I always craved his solos with the Civil Wars. It's lovely to hear him open up on his own. His voice is rich, tender and strong, and his guitar skills are enviable.
John Paul White is just something a bit special, his song writing is off the scale awesome, with a quite amazing voice. I was privileged to see him for the second time, at a very small venue in London, O'Meara's, a few weeks ago, he was sensational. I'm a fan for life.
He has an intensity like Orbison. I know I shouldn't wish for The Civil Wars to manifest again, but I do. His amazing voice, intensity and strong songwriting, and her, lilting, angelic voice (and writing skills) combined to create healing overtones for their listeners, I believe. I love his humanity. Conflicted, secure, creative, intense in the softest moments and the most tearing. An enigma to be sure. Thank you, JPW.
If you ever get the chance and his in your town, please go see him. I was amazed by his voice. Just awesome, talented. He interacts with the public and overall I can't wait to see him again. Worth it.
I didn't realize being a civil wars fan how incredible jph is , I think maybe he's the best singer I've ever heard and his guitar playing is second to none. His songs are great I've had him on repeat on my utube red app for about a month now and I can't get enough. Long way home is my favorite of the 4 . Hope I can get to Florence to see the start of tour.
Thanks for saying that I don't mean any disrespect it just seams that joy sang like on top of jpw to the point his voice was covered. Saying that I loved civil wars.
Agreed again! I guess "backup guy" wasn't giving him enough credit--I think Civil Wars had the tightest and most amazing vocal harmonies I've ever heard.
My dreams have all come true hits completely different this time around. It's tauntingly beautifully, knit together with a small bitterness. But a bitterness I feel in my heart I cannot put into words. & this song, let's the bitterness be what it is. With out leaving any holes. Expressing how I feel, with out taking the taste home. Idk how to explain it. I just love this song. This entire performance, but that song. Thank you. simply thankful for you. JPW
JPW is amazing. Saw him recently at The Bowery Ballroom and even got to talk to him before the show. I do want to thank Paste Studios for supporting this great talent. I've watched all your videos from The Civil Wars to this, and some other artists in between. Keep it going with the talents and you will keep getting my views and likes.
One of those people who makes me feel special because I'm hip to how great he is and most folks are just estupidos who don't. Used to feel that way about Gillian Welch. And the Honey Dewdrops. Not a real noble feeling, but hey, it's their fault.
Long time great music lover, born and bred on Beatles and Dylan... just discovering JPW. My new crush., at age 60. I hear a bit of a Jeff Buckley quality here. So, so good. Thank for sharing your talent with the world. :)
The other half was pretty damned good, HOWEVER, a tendency in the industry to WRITE SONGS FROM NO EXPERIENCES IS QUITE APPARENT THROUGHOUT: I wrote a number of the storylines for a shitload of hot in the wires currently...but they arrive to these artists from a foot. High stack of experiences over the course of 30 years and more recent catastrophic failures. : I DONT JUST MAKE THEM UP AND GET ALL RILED UP ABOUT IT. There is nothing entering here to suggest remotely I live proximal to any where near this man’s musical experience: MINE WAS INCIDENTALLY MUSICAL WHILE BEING INCIDENTALLY A LIFE OF THE 60’s 70’s 80’s90’s, etc
Since I also write many of Ryan Adams, Allison Moorers, an entire cd for sir Elton and even contributed one to sir Dylan, I at least am fairly certain the iambic metres
Dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf these days :)
find a way john ...gotta get back back with joy. there is nothing in this world better than the two of you together. find a way.. I hear your new songs and her new songs and and something is missing which is both of you together. we ( fans ) are all waiting, now is better than later. Make the call
The songs and guitar playing here are fine but pedestrian, not electrifying like The Civil Wars, which was alchemy we'd never heard before. Does anybody remember Mick Jagger solo albums without the Stones ? Domestic bliss is important but when you're handed a bottle of lightning and you smash it on the rocks the universe cries a little.

His live performances are much better than the studio versions, much rawer and inviting to listen upon. Hope I get to see him perform someday.
He has a deeper talking voice than I would’ve thought from listening to his music.

Totally agree. I kinda saw him as the backup guy in Civil Wars, but he is amazing. I'm very happy my eyes have been opened to this fact.

Can't stop thinking that a collaboration with Ruth Moody would be awesome.
@@airy-mountain Wow. Good call.

Pure magic is JPW and everything he lends his voice, songwriting and musicianship to is just beautiful. Thank you Paste Studio for this.
JPW is THE BEST !!!!
Epic voice. Fantastic!
JPW has it all! An incredible songwriting ability that that he articulates with his amazing and passionate voice!
My God, his voice.

I love John Anderson and I can see you two together. I love this solo.
I meant Whispering Bill Anderson
Love it, thank you!
My goodness, he is so, so good
FANTASTIC! I hope he makes it back to Michigan!
The Ark, Ann Arbor, in July!

Best half of the civil wars how the hell does this only have 3k views
Joy Williams does well too though: ua-cam.com/video/cX04ymrpDT8/v-deo.html
Paste posts like 50 videos at a time so it's not going to get enough clicks from subscribers to enter the "UA-cam algorithm"

no.
@@Saltee yes.
never going to happen.
Absolutely amazing.
lets drink to the long way home!!!
John paul White é um dos melhores cantores do mundo. Eu amo suas músicas.
Damn! Voice sounds epic! Thanks for the post.
The first song reminds me a lot of KD Lang. Lots of yearning here.
This is the guy that Fleetwood Mac should have gotten after firing Lindsey. Oh the potential
Great idea, get Hope Sandoval to replace Stevie Nicks and you got a deal
Great idea! I'll run it by management. ------Mick
Can anybody hear the voice of Joy in the air?
Imagine Joy Williams harmonizing to this in their home.
I like him better solo. First song has shades of Roy Orbison to me. Props buddy
😍

It still kills me that his secound half "on a music standpoint" isnt there. When they played together, there was just chemistry.
