Some useful vocabularies and structures in this video, hope it'll help:
    1. sth saves my bacon: save my life, save the day, improve the situation
    2. the 3rd conditional: talk about the past, we imagine things which didn't happen.
Example: If she had studied, she would have passed the exam
    3. The more..., the more ...
Example: The more expensive the gift is, the greater your love is for them
    4. equate (v)
example: The amount of money doesn't equate/isn't equal to the value of the gift
    5. reinforce(v)=help build up=boost the relationship
    6. I don't do birthdays=I don't celebrate birthdays
    7. fill others with meaningless stuff
    8. used to do
    9. recall=remember=retrieve
    10. constantly=all the time=often
=> It's all about presence, not present
Have you ever given handmade gifts to other?
-> I used to make a colorful origami pig for my mother's 40th birthday. I know it seems meaningless and ridiculous but this idea suddenly sprung up to my mind. My mother, however, was incredily glad and delightful when receiving my handmade gift.
What's the best gift you've ever received?
-> My father gave me the latest and luxury Lamborghini when I successfully passed the final exam with a flying score. I can't put my feelings into words when receiving it and I can remember vividly how eager and impatient I was to flaunt this car to my besties

Some fab advice here! I love the answer! Very creative!
However, a little feedback: it should be "vocabulary" (uncountable), constantly would be VERY often, and an idea usually "springs to mind".
-> My father gave me the latest and MOST luxurIOUS Lamborghini when I successfully passed the final exam with flying COLOURS. I can't put my feelings into words when receiving it and I can remember vividly how eager and impatient I was to flaunt this car to my besties
      Hopefully it helps =]

    My answer to dislike gift:
Well, if I'm not mistaken, no I've never obtained unwelcome something at birthday party or event like that. I constantly appreciate gifts from my friends or relatives. Thus, I suppose, gifts are a way to show people's express thanks, gratitude for someone. So I respect them.

This is an interesting possible answer, but some advice: words like "thus" are usually not used outside of a lecture. Hopefully it's helpful =]

Second question Rory uses all the time 'then' . I think it's pretty different main meaning

I think that might be the word "them"; you might need to slow the video down to hear it clearly. =]

What a nice example answer (though a little feedback: it should be "I got" not "gotten" for a finished time in the past). =]

Which is why or that's why or the reason why what's the difference between them? If you explain that I'll appreciate it

    • @SuccesswithIELTS
      @SuccesswithIELTS  Рік тому

They all have a similar function: explaining, but (out of context like this) there is a slight difference:
      1) Which is why = is used to add information about a subject (it could be a specific one or many things) - this is used after the subject mentioned.
      2) that's why = is used to give specific information about a specific subject - this is used after the subject mentioned.
      3) the reason why = is used to explain a single reason - this can be used before or after the subject mentioned.
      Hopefully it helps. =]

I would have been upset, if she had not given me that glasses on my birthday (just tried to make sentence for third conditionals ) is it correct?

    • @SuccesswithIELTS
      @SuccesswithIELTS  Рік тому +1

It is indeed, though for speaking you might want to use contractions and bring up the score for pronunciation =]
