Thank you. My sister is a nurse and said 90% of people have hsv1, so her clinic doesn't even test for it unless someone ask... I didn't have an outbreak, but my doc just tested me for sti's and that came back positive. Ya.... Have always had mild cold sores on my tongue. Have a current partner who is VERY efficient. So after dealing with lots of stress because of my divorce, I came down with a horrible outbreak. Bad sores both orally and genitally, fever, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, whole package. 😕
Hey guys your not alone I have an outbreak right now, everyone who says they don’t have it.........think about how likely it is they’ve never been tested, all the partners they’ve had and just because they show no signs they think there good. Then think about the percentage of people they know have it, and then think about how that number might be dwarfed by all the untested people. I don’t think I know anybody that’s been tested.
Even if they get tested they may have it. Drs don’t usually test for hsv

Why everyone typing the same thing
I tested positive today but i have never had a outbreak my test came back 41.30
I'm. 48 and since the age of 27 I always had it on my leg. It was a shock but I started to learn to live with it and since years taking loads of lysine always did wonders, preventative and during the outbreak. I was always super happy I didn't have it in my face! Now all of a sudden I have all these spots around my mouth and am freaking out!
We'd really suggest you to get tested and see what it is.

Good diet and exercise plus taking vitamins have reduced the frequency so much that I almost don’t get them at all anymore, however I I do still get them about a once a year sometimes a bit more

I have HSV 1 and never had a cold sore in my Life. Apparently like 67% of people have it. Its like HPV, like 80% of people get that. But you hear Genital Herpes and Genital Warts and people freak out.

I’m a little confused🥺 Yesterday I found out I tested positive for HSV-1 but not HSV-2. So does that mean I got it most likely from kissing someone? And is there any way to pin point who we got it from? I had sex with someone new 3 weeks ago and went and got tested 2 weeks after the sex. Can it even show up that soon if I got it from THAT person? I do remember my baby’s father had a cold sore on his lip but that was a year ago and I joked about herpes and he got kinda mad and said he just get the cold sores when it’s cold. So now I’m thinking could I’ve gotten it from HIM a year ago or maybe I’ve had it for a long time and actually maybe gave it to him
HSV1 can be both oral (cold sores) or genital herpes. There's no way of knowing where exactly you got it from, unless all people you've ever kissed or had sex with, would test negative, but one.
Herpes can stay dormant in your body for years.

you probably had it before, i’ve had it since i was a child it can be passed just by drinking from a cup, but hsv 1 is normal it’s just a light scab on your upper lip
When you get tested you have to wait 6 to 8 weeks to get full results. Just giving you the heads up
Yes, that's correct. Many people are asymptomatic, so that's the estimation, because many just don't know unless they get tested

@@besmart2350 my eyes are fine now, but my optic nerves is permanently inflamed causing dry eyes due to the virus. If i overstrain my body the inflammations gets worse. If im well rested, my healthy body immune systems will keep the virus in check with less dry eyes.

I have genital herpes HSV-1. have there been cases in which people have been completely cured of genital herpes hsv-1? I've read stories when people were cured of herpes, but I don't think anyone had genital
Honestly, we have not met anybody. There are a lot of scammers there, claiming to have a cure for herpes, but they mostly preying to people's vulnerability and want to get easy money.
So HSV 1&2 exist in the Nerve Ganglia correct? Stress can “ignite” an outbreak correct? So is there any cure for HSV? Do Retrovirals help with HSV?
No cure yet but theyre close to a vaccine; testing on mice and guinea pigs hve shown great results....
I've been stressing because I think I have oral herpes after going down on a guy and I got tested for gonorrhea, chlamydia but my doctor doesn't want to test me for herpes. I currently have sores not on my lips but close to them and I've been stressing because it's gonna affect my intimate life
Usually herpes can’t be tested until 7-14 days of infection. If you have sores that are spreading tell that to a doctor to get an std test of everything under the sun. If you test positive you have to own it and adjust accordingly. Good luck

Stress won't help. It will mean you get recurrences. The goal is to not have them often. So little that you get on with life.

I feel like shit absolute shit. My partner had a cold sore on they lip that was in the process of coming on , I didn’t even know they had this going on but they gave me oral sex and didn’t tell me now I have hsv1 on my genitals 🤦🏾♀️ this hurts really bad and makes me feel disgusting. I work in the medical field so when I felt what I felt and saw what I saw I immediately knew what it was and went off on him cause it got bigger on his lip and that day I asked him to take me to get tested was the day I seen he was trying to hid it saying he didn’t know it would effect me. I’m embarrassed and in pain 💔

Yes, it is possible. Look at what could be a trigger for it.

What if your diagnosis with type 1 but has no symptoms or break outs
Many people are asymptomatic, meaning the herpes is staying dormant in their systems.
@@lifewithherpes It seems like the discourse on antiviral meds addresses outbreaks. Should/can asymptomatic people take antiviral meds indefinitely? It’s hard to find recommended medication dosages and frequency for asymptomatic folks, for either strain.
@@lifewithherpes it’s not dormant, your immune system controls it like chickenpox. Latency theory was proven false. The virus is constantly trying to replicate but many ppl have immune systems that can handle it.

If you’ve only had outbreaks on your genitals and never orally but your test shows that you have both type 1 and 2, does that generally means you also have it orally and not just on your genitals ?
We don't know. The only way you'd known, is to get a swab test when you get an outbreak. The test would show you which type is causing an outbreak. However, that's probably a lot of testing. Just assume you have both types genitally, if you never had an outbreak elsewhere.

It's nearly impossible to avoid oral herpes. If you wear a mask your entire life and you do not kiss, touch or speak too closely to someone you might have a chance of not getting it. It's good to know when you have it because you should take precations when practicing oral sex to someone. You can use some meds to supress the virus and be able to enjoy oral sex too. I tested positive for HSV1, with no sympthoms at all. There is no need to worry too much about HSV1 or HSV2.

They are! They can both be passed orally and genitally. If you have HSV1 You're just unlikely to transmit it to someone already having cold sores because they already have antibodies and their immune system knows how to eradicate the virus. your welcome ;)
They are the same. They both cause blisters. The blisters go away and reappear. Type one can end up on your genitals and cause severe outbreaks. You take the SAME medication to heal the outbreaks for both types.
They kinda of are the same. It's just that certain people are more sensitive than others. Honestly I really don't care about Herpes. I have HSV 1, never had a cold sore. It isn't something that I personally worry about.

I smoked from a bong (hooka) with 3 other guys, I know it was stupid cuz I didn't know them, but now I'm concerned if I could get herpes from smoking from a bong, you know I put my lips in the bong where 3 strangers put their lips too now I'm worrying about contracting oral herpes... is it that easy to get it like that from other people? Even if they didn't have any cold sores or blemishes? I also didn't have any cuts or nothing on my lips but im afraid that if any of them have had herpes in the past but they don't have any cold sores or nothing now i could still get it if they left a little saliva in the mouth piece and i touch it with my lips, Or does it needs to be a lot of saliva from the infected person for me to get it? , is it enough just to touch with my lips the mouth piece to get it? If one or more or them actually did have herpes and were just shedding (please see viral shedding), you can catch it the way you described. But the chances are low and you don't even know if they have herpes, it seems.

You are right, idk if any of them actually had any herpes , im just assuming what if they have it? Herpes is transmitted with skin to skin contact, so this will make it easier for you to avoid that area where herpes is located for you. You can get a treatment, so if you tested high for antibodies for the hsv1 strain, you can get prescribed medication over the internet that will suppressive the virus for a good time. I think they treat you for 1 year, and you take a daily pill. After a year they stop the therapy. The therapy is to help dormant the virus if you are experiencing outbreaks frequently.

I have a question. My partner just found out he has antibodies for HSV-1 today and we had oral sex three days ago. Is it possible that I have genital herpes? When should I be getting tested?
The test would usually show positive after 4-6 weeks, but it could take up to 6 months. Unless you'd get an OB before, of course

HSV1 can be genital herpes as well. And you can definitely get it from oral sex. Herpes is transmitted with skin to skin contact, so if someone has genital herpes and you would perform oral sex on them, you are at risk of getting it.

HSV-1 is mainly transmitted by oral-to-oral contact to cause oral herpes (which can include symptoms known as “cold sores”), but can also cause genital herpes.

@@lifewithherpes I’ve only had 1 sexual partner my whole life which is my wife she testing negative for herpes type 1 and my parents are negative as well and I tested positive what could be the reason ? I was recently sick with Covid and have really bad allergies I was just hoping it was a false positive but Tht can never be the case ?
So, you can try Western blot test. Especially if your values were really low, you can see if you really have it with this test. It's the most accurate, but your insurance won't usually cover it.
Also, it is possible you got it from kissing somebody else, or an aunt with HSV kissed you when you were a kid, or something silly like that. You can potentially get it from drinking after someone with it, or small things like that. It is a very common virus.
Hsv 1+2 IgG positive means oral or gentle
Neither, one or both. A lot of people are Asymptomatic. I have HSV 1, but never had an "Outbreak"
So after getting outbreaks with genital herpes, can you still get it outbreaks orally?
Once you have the antibodies, no. But you can infect yourself with another type. If you now have hsv2, you can still get hsv1. Some place or another

Sadly, there's no cure at the moment and there are a lot of gimmicks out there, claiming they can cure herpes.
You can surely control your outbreaks with diet, stress, sleep, supplements and antivirals, but it never disappears. The best you can do - and it does happen to some people- they would lower their antibodies to the point where herpes is not detectable anymore, but sadly, it doesn't mean it's gone. It stays in your body for life. 🤷
Im really scared i havent had sex in almost three years im celiabte but super scared the last guy i kissed was 18 days ago but tested 2 years ago came back negative so not sure if he gave it to me or sometime in that 2year span we didn't do anything else i was wasted like an idiot but just did blood work 2 days ago and tested negative for everything but herpes 1 i have no symtoms i am just so depressed and fill like i don't want to live anymore plz help
If you were both negative in the beginning, and did not come in contact with the virus in that time, you could not have gotten it.

I wonder why there is SOOOOO much contradictory when it comes to this? How and why if its been around so LONG is it still extremely CONFUSING. If there are slight differences than they are different. Oral is most likely confirming 1 and gential is 2. SMH! Over all you still have it and I think since the medical field has made it seem so WHATEVEE, ppl actually pass it to each other telling themselves, its no big deal EVERYONE has it. Its not easy to deal with because I know ppl who have it (women) and it seem extremely stressful, painful and damaging on self esteem, on the mind & the body. As a whole we should do better. You’re all wrong, sexual practices such as oral sex have become far more common, hence HSV1 has migrated to the genital regions. She didn’t explain it very well, it didn’t just magically migrate, it was due to oral sex.
When does the first outbreak occur?
Usually within 14 days. But it could be weeks, months even years - or never. Some people get infected, but never get outbreaks.

I have the same concerns! I think it is best to avoid kissing infants (their weak immune systems can't handle the virus and they could die from infection) and to avoid kissing older babies on the lips.

My cousins wife’s younger sister has type 2 but a cold sore was present last yr
She got her tested and she was positive

If you have brushed your teeth in a short time after she has been using it, it's possible, however, not very likely.

The outbreak will go away on it's own. You can use different products or medicine.
Of course, you will probably get more outbreaks through the years.

If the person had an active outbreak, then very likely. If not, then the chances are about 1-5% in general. The amount of time doesn't really play a role.

If you have no hsv 1, you probably a monk or have no friends.
So, i had bloodwork done and the lady that called and told me i have hsv1 oral herpes of the mouth and she pretty much told me to.google it. The reason i went to the doc if because i have been having bumps all over down there and it would not go away and was painful itchy and some look like white heads but idk if its genital herpes :( i havent had sex with another person over three years. I call my doc office for a call back and they were suppose to call within 72 hrs and its been over five days. It just stressful not knowing if its genital herpes

If you have active sores, we'd suggest you to ask for a swab test. That's how you will see if what you're experiencing is genital herpes. However, if they're already drying up, the test would most likely come back negative.
Otherwise, hsv1 can be genital herpes. It's not uncommon, but it is usually referred to as oral herpes, which can be confusing.
@@lifewithherpes I ended up going to my gynecologist today and she said it definitely is not herpes down there I havent been experiencing any bumps other than my pubic area and hasn't been painful to sit down she said it is folliculitis which is self inflicted on my part. This make more sense since i havent had sex with anyone to have a breakout down there i know it could happen years later but i do get cold sores around the mouth or inside my mouth like i have a little bump under my lip and one near my wisdom in the back which could be the oral herpes
Is hsv1 in the genital area life threatening if it goes untreated? Or is it just painful and that is all to it?

No, herpes is not lifethreatening. You can manage it without medication, it may just take longer to heal. However, there are many people that do not use antivirals. Your body is totally capable of dealing with it on its own.
