His music is unique and delightfully beautiful. His musical whimsical phrases are voyages through time; some won some lost. You really must appreciate his music for what it is! Thank you Erik Satie.

My sister-in-law chose to play this for a reflection time at my father's funeral service. It's like a warm bath of sun in an empty room by the ocean with ocean breezes to clear the gloom. He would have loved it!

It reminds me of the ending of , as Wally uses the dinner money that Andre spared him the expense of to take a take a taxi. He stares out the window, reconnecting with a world he hand't seen since the last time he traveled aboveground. The meter softly beeps, but not so as to distract his reminiscences. Money worries no longer dominate his thoughts and smother his sentiment, as at the start of the movie. With Satie the background music, the scene is a quiet revival.

Inspired by the work of Erik Satie and his variations of 3, I once wrote a piece of music for my daughter Samantha. It was shorty after she had an operation on a brain tumour. I was very lucky and managed to catch her on video capturing a butterfly in a glass and then releasing it into the garden. The ironic thing being, it didn't want to fly away. At the time I wrote the music I was trying to think of a title for the piece and was thinking shall I call it number 4. (Trois Gymnopedies -3 dances) I Thought again..... well 3 x 3 is 9 so I'll call it number 9. Later when editing the file to include as a backing track to the video I was quite shocked to note the date on the file..... it was 09/09/2009....Coincidence or fate.....who knows, but spooky indeed.
Alas' Sam passed on to the place where all the Butterflies rest in August 2011....
So for me her spirit lives on in this Video and the music I wrote for her, inspired by Erik Satie.... Butterflynumber9

How would one describe this music - you have the reliable steady certainty of the left hand and walking hand in hand with the 'feminine' right until she runs off a little way and shows her charm and then returns to her faithful left hand. Calm certainty , together they are one in harmony , and serenity, they will never tire of each others charms, their motion together is perpetual. A perfect expression of calm..

Cupping a mug of hot beverage with both hands. Maybe a shaw or throw over the shoulders or across the breast/chest. Taking an anti-(fill in the blank) medication whilst the soundtrack to every person's "inwards/inner" life plays. My mimd cannot help but to think of the oximoronical as it envokes a lugubrious joy as I listen😑
Never knew the name of this composer nor the composition. I had heard it* (*this composition) in several iterations of media. I clicked on it by accident. Thanks for posting, keep vibing.

Two hours of French composer Erik Satie's Gnossiennes 1-3 (c. 1890-93)
    ua-cam.com/video/Y1vGBukbYAo/v-deo.html
Erik Satie (1866 - 1925) invented the word Gnossienne to represent the ritual dances of evocation performed in the ancient city of Gnossos.
The Gnossiennes were composed by Satie in the decade following the composition of the Sarabandes (1887) and the Trois Gymnopédies (1888). Like these Sarabandes and Gymnopédies, the Gnossiennes are often considered dances.
The first three Gnossiennes were composed around 1890 and first published in 1893.
The Gnossiennes Nos. 4-6 were published only in 1968, long after Satie's death. None of these appear to have been numbered, nor even titled as "Gnossienne" by Satie himself!

It 's the sound of a hopeful beginning after an arduous walk; a certainty of rest and abundant life surrounding you in harmony. Beautiful tones. Makes you feel as if you can walk into a child s painting fiiled up with the abscence of pain, full of innocence and love.

It was in my bedroom in Westerly RI in the late 1960's that I first heard Satie's music. I put on one of father's records to listen to Debussy's La Mer with Serge Koussevitzky conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Satie's Gymnopédie No 1 was on the second side of the record. I had never listened to that piece before and was struck my its beauty and allure.
