    N class on Goods trains were quite common in the 1980's and 1990's prior to G class being fitted for DOO

    Now that's something you don't see everyday, an N class on a freight train, though soon it will be a very common sight that.

    Well done, Adam! It seems weird seeing N class on anything other than H or N cars! 😍

      @@BaileyChap N & P classes ideally, maybe even an A class. I hope they preserve some H sets and they're not all scrapped. Personally I'd prefer if they remained in service, or at least were replaced by another railcar, but the V/Lo's have supersceeded them on the intercity services unfortunately. I certainly think V/Lo's should not be on longhaul services though, would much rather new locos and carriages.

    Been waiting for a video on this..
    Geez SSR wasted no time in getting them out there. They only just got transferred to them.
    Edit: sad that it's all the places V/Line still runs rail services too.

    Disappointing decision from v line to phase these wonderful machines out before having a comfortable replacement, but glad to see them getting a new home ❤

      The V/Lo's are good for intercity services thus the N's are unfortunately superceeded there. I do agree though that they should not be on longhaul services.

    Great video mate, certainly different seeing the N classes on freight rather than their usual passenger trains

    N class hauling freight. SSR leased these N class for service with them. Idk what's next when V/Line is done with the N class locomotives. However I hope one or a few N class locomotives get preserved.

    SSR add yet another livery to their fleet.

    • @aidanthomas2510
      @aidanthomas2510 5 місяців тому +2

      This livery is only on it because it's leased from V/Line, apparently because they may need them back at a moments notice. Once they're purchased, which they probably will be once V/Line phases out locos, they'll probably get the SSR livery.

    • @silvesterpeel5379
      @silvesterpeel5379 5 місяців тому

      @aidanthomas2510 they may as well clean and repaint the whole loco since they're removing the Vline and PTV logos.

    • @aidanthomas2510
      @aidanthomas2510 5 місяців тому +1

      @@silvesterpeel5379 they probably won't be able to since they're still owned by V/Line and can be taken back at a moments notice, thus they'd still want it in that livery even without the logos. They only removed the logos because they aren't in V/Line service (though they can be taken back by them if they're short as they're leased not owned). Like I said once they're owned by SSR, which they probably will be once V/Line phases out locos entirely, the livery will probably be changed. Remember, it took SSR a number of years to repaint their P classes and they brought them because V/Line had withdrawn them entirely. V/Line still have N's in service, thus why they're only leased.

    • @Taitset

      Sunbury to Kyneton is all bi-directional, so trains can run on either track in either direction.

      @@Taitset It's great for versatility! I presume it's being used to allow the freight train to overtake/be overtaken?

    • @Taitset
      @Taitset 5 місяців тому +1

      @@BaileyChap Quite possibly, but they also just do right-hand running at certain times of day. The east line has a lower speed limit than the west line, and the weekday peaks are planned around peak-direction trains being on the faster west line.
