I’m going on vacation soon and was excited to have the time to whittle, but worried about having a place to do it. I will now be sitting by the pool with my whittle box. Thank you! 😊
@@whittler0507 We do go back a long way! I'm amazed at the number of videos you have made since we first talked about those first ones! Keep on being an inspiration my friend! You're the best in my book!
Thanks my friend .. so excited to hear your working with WCI ....Their going to be lucky to have you Doug .. Thank you for all your doing for carvers everywhere ..Goid Bless
Hello Gene, thank you for another video! for the ladys I have a big tote bag. I have my knives in a pencil box. plus a small V and gouge. keep them in my big bag with my glove and thumb guard. I also keep a plastic bag in side the tote bag for all my chips. and if a few do inside the tote easy to clean. I call it my " On the Go, waiting room bag."
Love your videos. They are all full of useful tips. Always learn something new and you are so clear in your instructions. Definitely couldn't take your mobile carving box out in the Dr's waiting room..... they would have a fit of the vapours then get you arrested. LOL .... but a great idea for the car. 🏴 😁
I use a reusable shopping bag the same way and you can even arrange it so no one can see what you're doing if that's an issue. Whittling is much more interesting than staring at a phone the whole time.
Gene, check out a carving apron with pouch. It’s specifically designed to catch the carving shavings and you can carry it in your harbor freight box. I wear mine when I’m carving
I know what you mean..this is so crazy! On the other hand I guess you can go and have a picnic somewhere with a much bigger kitchen knife. People don't understand that it's all about bad intentions, not the "knife" that can hurt someone. You may have a different object that can hurt someone much worse than a little knife..
I do, if you have good reason it's OK. Yes I've been questioned by a passing community support officer - twice on separate occasions (pretendy police person) and given the all clear
I was just thinking the same thing as I watched this. Can you imagine going to the doctors and pulling out a knife while you waited (if you could get a doctor appointment that is) 😂😂😂. I can find very little on UA-cam for carving/whittling in the UK do you know of any UK channels? I am just starting out in this hobby, in fact my first order of a couple of knives and some wood are arriving today, really looking forward to it.
I do, whittling is good reason. I sit in the nature reserve with my carving jack and a bit of wood. Never had an issue and I've been seen by both rangers and the police patrols.

Gene, I use an old pillow case split down the side seam and drape it in my lap between my legs to catch the chips
Sounds like a good idea ..excellent ideas for whittling outside the home

I will ..Thank you
I've got one and put in extra little pouches to hold my knives so they dont get buried in the shavings..I love it
@@clivegreen5492 Sounds like a great idea Clive ..Thanks for the info ..God Bless
Thank you
Thank you my friend
What if you left the tray in and let your shavings go in there? That way you don't have to take your tools out to dump the shavings.
The tray in this box was very small and wouldnt hold many ..but not a bad idea ..Thank you
Shame we couldn't get away with doing that here In the UK..the Police would soon whisk us away for having fixed bladed knives in public 😔

Truly sad what the world has become.

Gene do you use corks to cover your knife blades?
Yes I do ..very easy to slip on and off and a great knife protector
@Gene Messer where can I get them.
I’m not trying to judge but your voice sounds like Johnny Knoxville
🤣🤣🤣🤣Now I havent heard that one before .....Thank you for watching David
