- Today I'm sharing my Top 10 Marvel Omnibus Editions for 2023! A couple notes on this omnibus list: these are books I picked-up and/or read in 2023, not all of them were necessarily released this year.

What have been your favorite Marvel Omnibus editions this year? 📚🤔📚
Difficult question has got to be either thunderbolts uncaged or Thor Aaron… I have Definitley forgotten some important releases that I have read…
I think for me it would be:
Immortal Hulk
Spider-Man 2099
Hickvengers 1-2
Black Cat (still need to buy it)
Spider-Man vs Venom
Spider-Verse/Geddon (mostly for the mapping, I hope we get more event omnis like this one)
I only picked from omnis released this year (new omnis and reprints)
For Next year I already see:
Judgment Day
Spider-man 2099 vol 2
Spider-man Michelinie & Bagley
Spider-Man Michelinie & Larsen
ROM (not for me, but it will probably be received well) Micronauts as well maybe

@@VenAuri excellent picks! I was stoked to get that Spiderman vs Venom collection as well! And yeah 2024 is setting up to be a wild one hoping to save for a few Omnis. Would love those Spidey collections

Literally watched this video right after ordering Spider-Man 2099 for myself! So excited to dig into that. Great list, superior and new xmen were both big pickups for me this year that I’m so happy to have in the collection. Also picked up a ton of Claremont’s Uncanny run in Omnis and planning to dig into that in 2024
I’ve made my way through the first 4 volumes of UXM by Claremont I reviewed them on the channel. Love that stuff!
And Spidey 2099 is incredible hope you love it!
Now you see why I was so hyped about that Thor by Jason Aaron Omnibus. That run was an absolute EXPERIENCE for me bro. Love your list so much. I would love to see you do a DC one now.
Brother that book is SO GOOD! It’s hard to put down, hoping to get the vol 2 for Christmas 🙏💪
And I know Immortal Hulk is on that list for you but any other Marvel Omnis this year you were particularly excited about? 📚
And I’d love to do a DC list but I didn’t get that many DC Omnis this year. I do plan to do a general best of DC list for myself though before end of year I hope. Have to represent the distinguished competition 👏
@@TheComicBookReport Bro I’m so glad you’re loving it. That run is AMAZING. And this year for me: Ultimate Spider Man Vol 3, Thor By Jason Aaron Vol 2, Captain Marvel by Peter David, SAVAGE Avengers, Trial of Captain America, just to name a few ha.

And yeah the last two Brubaker Omnis were definitely highlights for me as well been eager to round out that collection in Omnis and I had been missing those
I have 2 of these 10 Omnibus on your list. I actually just purchased the Superior Spider-Man Omnibus on a whim. It was a total impulse buy because I already own all 3 single Volume Hardcovers. Also, all 3 are signed by Dan Slott & Ryan Stegman. I'm not regretting buying it because it's cool to have all in one. It's such a great story too!
I also have Jason Aaron Thor Vol. 1 Omnibus. I was at first trying to piece together this Omni in the 4 OHC Volumes, but God Of Thunder Vol. 1 OHC was still super expensive. Love & Thunder hadn't released yet. I got 3 of the 4 Volumes, then decided to just buy the Omnibus cuz it was cheaper than the 1 single Volume HC.
Great list! I also have the Infinity Event OHC that collects a good part of the HickVengers Vol. 1 Omni. It's also in my reading pile! I need to finish the Jason Aaron Thor. I'm currently reading Vader by Gillen Omni.

I collect mostly DC omnis, but this year I picked up Ultimate Spider-Man Vol 3, Ghost-Spider Vol 2, and Gwenpool. All good reads.
Next year, I’ve got Remender’s X-Force and Waid’s FF on my list. Most of my Marvel money will be going to Modern Era Epics. Those are going to drain my wallet 😅
Your marvel Omnis for next year are probably my top 2 choices as well!
And I missed USM 3 😩

My collection is fairly small just a few bookcases but maybe I can try to get a video together in the future :)

@@TheComicBookReportHard to say. Depends on the mood. They all have their pros and cons. I guess I like Soule’s run best. But I haven’t finished Waid’s omni yet and I am loving that one too…

Great list! I highly recommend JMS's Thor run but, while it started out great, Donny Cates' Run on the character was cut short by a car accident and all of his plot threads were unable to be paid off. I'm not sure if you've read it but the Black Cat omnibus by Jed MacKay is a super fun read that I think you'll enjoy and be surprised by.

This is truly a tremendous list. I'm not so into the Millar FF but everything else is a chef's kiss.

@@TheComicBookReport It's been very much a DC year for me. I would add an honorable mention: The Immortal Iron Fist Omni. I think I would only give it an HM because once Fraction/Brubaker/Aja left it went from spectacular to just okay. It's almost like two omnis. The first half is top 5 for the year. The second half is forgettable (but not bad).

Did you like the Fraction or Aaron Thor run better?
So I read all of fractions and enjoyed it but I’m only starting Aaron’s I’m maybe 15 issues in? So hard for me to make a judgment call so far but I have a feeling I’ll lean Aaron. These early issues themselves are incredible
You should read JMS's run, it is one of the best Thor runs---its main problem is that JMS departs the run too soon. I'm a huge Thor fan and this is one of my favorite runs, up there with Simonson's. It's way better than Aaron's for sure---in fact, I'd say that Aaron is one of the worst Thor writers. Outside of the God Butcher arc, Aaron ruins Thor's character (retconning the Phoenix Force as Thor's mother AND also making it as Thor's old love interest; showing Thor as incompetent compared to Jane Foster and She Hulk, who basically devolved into Hulk with boobs; etc.) and Odin as well---suddenly making both of them into crippling alcoholics is...a choice. Aaron's Thor is not a clever, compassionate warrior god; he's a dumb, whiny, unworthy (for the 1,000,000th time again, wow) barbarian and it feels like a devolution from his previous runs.
Edit: there's also a case to be made that Aaron completely stripped his Loki of the character progression he had in Gillen and Ewing's runs; for the most part, Aaron's 'deconstruction' of the gods into barely competent, alcoholic oppressors with no redeeming qualities whatsoever despite character growth in previous runs is just horseshit.
Very exciting to get more Thor recommendations! I’m still making my way through Aaron’s Thor I’m enjoying so far but it’s nice to get some more opinions on it 💪👏📚
@@TheComicBookReport if you decide to get into JMS’ run, there’s no better time-the updated JMS omnibus (now including Gillen’s follow-up run + the main Siege event) comes out next Feb!

Likely not for Omnis because I didn’t pick up that many this year but I will try to do a list of DC top books for 2023 if I can!
I have a lot of best of 2023 content I’m trying to get out before year end as able :)
But oh yeah need to do some kind of DC best of soon!
Cates Thor omni comes out next year. Pick it up. I can’t recommend Cates enough. It’s a shame what happened to him

I wanted to read nothing but FF unfortunately they've been a slow read for me. Have not been able to bienge read em in comparison to other comics I've been reading.😔

@@nicholasbryant8268 totally. Have you read much silver age before? I know it’s a very different style compared to modern comics. I love the classic run but there are times it can drag on it bit.
@@TheComicBookReport what exactly is silver age comics??? If they're just the classic ones of any comic than yes. It's just the FF ones I've been slow with. Usually one issue a day.
@@nicholasbryant8268 so silver age isn’t a hard date but roughly comics around 1956-1970 is considered the silver age. It coincides with a big comic book boom and around the time Marvel Comics showed up
