At first I didnt really like the video as I thought Hank is far too apathetic to want to be loved or cared for. But then I realized that that's kinda the point. His apathy becoming less of a strength as he doesnt have any morals and thus has a higher chance of surviving but sacrificing his humanity as a cost. You did damn good man, and that ending hits like a brick.

Perhaps from Hanks perspective all of the changes to their world (and to himself) have driven those he cares about away from him. Alternatively, Hank thinks they have adapted to the changes easily while he hasn’t. A major theme with this animatic appears to be Hank’s horror with what he has become. At the end, Hank let’s himself be covered by the butterflies, which might be him “accepting” change. He hasn’t accepted it in a good way however. Rather than continue to reach out to his friends, Hank convinces himself that nobody would save him anyway. He has tricked himself into thinking either that his friends do not care about him, or that he is unsaveable… Red has many meanings: life, health, vigor, war, courage, anger, love, blood, and passion. I wonder which ones apply here…probably not health and vigor lol

As you Can see, the butterflies weren't covering Sanford and Deimos, they were flying out of them, as if they brought the change, they brought warmth (red). 2b accepted the warmth, as he gets covered with the butterflies. Hank feels betrayed, that the only one who was at the same mindset as him accepted that change, so he lets himself accept the change, and just like you said, not in a good way. I want to thank you for taking time to actually do reserach on this, this is Amazing.

When I came across the association between butterflies and metamorphosis, I started to think about why the butterflies surrounded the Hank _last_ when he was the one who changed the most dramatically. Suddenly the entire animatic started to click into place- how the line’s “I don’t want your pity” and “guess I’m a coward” fit in, his growing horror during the progression of his appearance, the photographs, the way his appearance kept swapping as he looked into the mirror. His words at the end. This was about dealing with change, and about the loneliness caused not by being alone, but by _believing_ you are alone. THAT is something I can can empathize with. Everyone struggles with change, and thinking others are unaffected by stressful circumstances and being too stubborn to accept help are mistakes I have made personally. When I watched it again I cried actual tears for Hank J. Motherlovin’ Wimbleton because “Hank, buddy, you’ve got it all wrong! You can’t spend forever resenting change, but you’re not alone! Don’t hurt yourself like this!” You made me cry for a character I did not think I could empathize with, which still blows my mind.
This really shows how hank feels a lot of the time he’s sad and lonely and has to deal with lost of trauma is hank was a real person I would be by him as much as I can to help support I think a lot of really big madness lovers will understand. This would kinda represent Hank's experience through the series and the Allies he's recieved. The only ones we know that are on Hank's side are Doc, Deimos, and Sanford. Those three (or two since Doc was never there throughout the entire series except for the final episode of Dedmos Adventures) are the only people Hank has which is probably why he decided to save Sanford and himself in Abrogation. Great work on this btw. I use my finger to draw as well.

Ahhhhhh this is so good! I can def see Hank becoming like this by mc7, he can hold his composure during missions, but after he has to take a moment to process all of it. He’s not like Deimos, Sanford or 2bdamned, who are all former agents and are used to the bloodshed, he’s got compressed emotions that he needs to release sometimes
