[Feedback Friday] How To Stop Your Legs From Slowing You Down

- By simply keeping your feet in line with your body (instead of having them splaying wide) can change your speed significantly. The amount of drag it creates can slow you down up to 5 seconds per 100m based on what some of our members have seen recently.

I like your videos very much. They have very details of analysis of incorrect swimming from most of us and you also have good recommendations for correction of errors. Love it. Thanks.
Brent your analysis is very good... i have worked on breathing onto the other side as the other side is quite good and this has helped me to improve my right side too,,, with a narrow kick
Through a video I discovered my legs did this. Likewise with my hand entry and crossing over. Used some of your drills over only 2 sessions in the pool and knocked 9 (nine!) Seconds off my 100 m time. Thank you!
Love your videos, love your analysis, love your analogies, I love everything about this channel. It helps me a lot!
Thanks Arslan!
Me too
I recall an analysis Brenton did on Katie Ledecky's breathing technique during one of her races where he pointed out that she slightly lifts her head before turning to breathe. It was very, very slight and difficult to spot with the naked eye, but there it was (on stop action). She could use Brenton's help and set more world records.
Katie is just super strong, very male, her technique is awful. Put her in a men's race and her bad habits turn up, but as long as she swims with girls, she's a world beater isn't she?
good analysis ... will it be better to do one arm freestyle with a snorkel so that you can concentrate only on the straight pull
enjoyed listening/watching the analysis - very helpful for even the novice swimmer like myself
Can you explain more about staying relaxed and breathing with your diaphragm? Cheers!
you need study Chi,,first
Yeah and i want to know about letting air out without controlling it ( relax and let it goes... If u controll it you wont let everything out but let it by itself making it easier just loose yout self)
what i m doing is right or no?
I RESPECT YOU MAN
I CATCH YOUR LESSON
The swimmer's right foot / ankle is almost completely flexed at times, that can't be good.
Could you do a video on pro swimmer's diet? Do they maintain a caloric deficit at some point? What are the % of macronutrients they take? I think could be interesting since what you eat heavily affects your performance.
There’s a wide range of diets they use. Take a look at Michael Andrew’s UA-cam channel. He talks a bit about his diet which is Keto I believe...
Effortless Swimming the scientists say keto is bullshit
Diet depends on the period of training. If the training volume and intensity is high, then the caloric intake should be higher.
% of macros depends on the body composition goals (more protein for weight loss and muscle gains), nevertheless the normal diet proportion is ok. 15% protein, 30% fats, 55% carbs.
@@lukas_mena mate so much research questions this. Yes a keto diet sheds some fat in the short term but will cost you in the long term. Low fat/good fat predominantly plant food based diet for the win. Don't fear complex fruit and vegetable based carbs! Plant foods are rich in Aminos which your body requires to assimilate proteins. I'm not a vegan btw.
Great video!!
Good one.
Could you tell what software you use to analyze the videos? (slowmotion, calculating angles)
Skillest
you can try Kinovea too
I had the same mistake. Simple reason, the core is not engaged
what song is that intro music? i want to try listening to it before i swim :D
What happened to all your other videos?
hes crossing his hands
Please turn on the subtitle function! I am exactly the mistake I made! Thank you
Lovely
My problem is breathing sometimes but why I do know because my freestyle so slow it takes time and energy, breaths too that's why. If I could finish lap fast then there will be no problem
And any tips for goggles squeezing (mine 16ft). No problem breathing but goggles squeezes so badly bcz of that I came up fast. I did touch 16ft but I got pain in cheeks so badly....
I was shocked how bad my stroke was when I saw a video. Legs all over the place. In my experience it starts with wrong arm entry and cross over.
I found practice using a pull boy helps to force a correction.
My legs even sink when putting the ankle band AND the pullbouy to my ankles. No, I can not imagene how I sink my legs with the bouy, but unfortunately I'm able make them go deep :(
You might need more core engagement
@@EffortlessSwimming Thank you!
I'm member of your video courses, which class/course talks about this, which one should i watch (again)?
I don't lack core strength, i think it might be a combination of not activating my core muscles plus a desk-job short and tight hip flexor, plus tensing my whole body and not relaxing (martial arts + strenght training background).
thank you, syou are still the best :)
he need point his toes back . he feet pointing down
From above he clearly is not crossing over the center line with his arms.
From above it's not the same swimmer
too long
Well we could make the lesson shorter but then you would only get halfway across the pool...
