- The Gregory brand makes some of my favorite day packs for hiking! I have owned 3 Gregory day packs and have gifted them as presents as well. In this video I talk about some of my older packs and how my newest Gregory Jade pack compares to the older one.

Something I'd point out is the elastic on the front of the shoulder is designed to hold sunglasses. I use mine all the time and I drop my glasses a lot less. I love everything Gregory as well. Thanks for taking the time to share the love. Still a great channel.
Yes I use that to hold my sunnies as well. Great feature.
the 4 looks like a great pack an going to pick one up today thanks for the showing
Nice! I have been using a Z30 as my daypack for many years. For backpacking, last year I got the Gregory Optic 48 and it has been great! I did consider the Paragon but went with the lighter Optic. I tried Ospreys and have always found that their center of gravity seems further away than the Gregorys.
I agree with you. I have a Gregory 43L and love it.
We do like the design of Gregory Packs. Especially for mountain biking/trekking. Deuter & Badlands also make comfy packs for the long haul. I think it boils down to what a single person wants in design, color, appearance, and of course...the all important brand name. What they all need to consider is the "Toughness," of the material a pack is made from.
I have a vintage Gregory Shasta and Evolution and Banshee. Thanks for the video.
Nice.
I purchased the optic 58 as my hiking pack. It was lighter than the Exos and has a hipbelt. Also didn't break the bank like the arc blast and arc haul.
I love it.
I have never regretted my Optic 58, I consider it and it's replacements to be far superior to many "ultralight", frameless, gimmicky, overpriced packs on the market.
I tried the Gregory (in store) but favorite day pack is the REI Traverse 35. Very comfortable suspension system and compresses well when not carrying much stuff. As a bonus picked it up for $50 on sale :)
Nice!
Just bought the Miwok 18. Looking forward to some day hikes around Haceta Head on the coast as well as the gorge and central Oregon.
Have fun!!
Here in Alaska, we really like our Gregory backpacks ❤️🎒🥾🏔
Nice!!
Hike Oregon , you’d love hiking here. 👊
I have the Zulu 40 which is working great for long day hike with full frame DSLR.
Excellent!👍🏼
Starting to turn into a gear junkie I have that problem as well. Upside I always have gear to take out people who do not have any or want to try something out.
That’s my goal. To have enough gear to be able to take someone else out on day hike and/or backpacking trips.
Great review !
I'm hesitant to buy the men's version of the backpack - Citro 24.
My only concern is the aluminum frame that holds the back of the backpack away from the mesh back. As far as I understand the backpack does not have a hard back, and relies on the aluminum frame to stretch the very back of the backpack. If there is more bulky luggage to inflate the back of the backpack, is it possible the back of the backpack to “stick“ to the mesh back. Especially if I ride a bike and the weight of the backpack is on the back.
For example, Osprey Stratos and Deuter Futura have a hard curved plastic back, which, regardless of the volume of luggage, always keeps the back of the backpack away from the mesh back.
I will be very grateful if you share your opinion on this issue and whether my concerns are justified :)
The frame does not bend. Meaning I can stuff as much stuff into the pack and it will never Bend outwards and touch my back.
That's a very fair point
How durable is the stretch mesh on the gregory packs ? Ive been looking at a gregory miwok that has that.
It depends. The mesh on the bigger packs is more durable than on the smaller Citro. That one ripped when I was going under a tree and it got snagged on a branch.
Great vid!!! Thanks. Did you contact Gregory..perhaps they would've discounted some on the new pack? I learned you don't ask you don't get.....:)
😉
This not a dig, but I'm just curious what you're carrying that a 25L isn't big enough? My go-to for a full day summer hike is the Osprey Raptor 14, and I would consider myself an overpacker. I know everyone's needs are different so i'm just curious
I carry a lot of photography stuff like different lenses. I have a large first aid kit, a puffy coat, rain gear, food and 3 liters of water. I also have sunscreen, a buff, chapstick, a knife, sometimes my filming camera, trekking poles, my trowel and TP.
11:31 Keep up the great work! Seeing you work hard on your channel inspires me to work hard on mine! Thumbs up 👍
Hmm, I haven't seen Gregory here in Norway. Currently looking for a day pack around 20 L. I need something in between my 9 L and my 36 L :)
Can you buy it online? Gregory makes awesome backpacks but I know Europe has some pretty great outdoor companies as well.
Have you tried Lowe Alpine?
You can stich a new velcro strip on your old pack and repair the seam that is coming apart. No reason to throw away a pack that can be easily fixed.
I had used this pack for years and it smelled soooooo bad! It was definitely going in the trash, otherwise I would have donated or sold it for sure.
Where can you buy these? I assume not REI. Are there other stores in Oregon where you can try the packs on?
Yep you can buy Gregory packs at REI, on Amazon and gregorypacks.com I put all the links to the packs I talked about in the more info box below the video.
