Ristar is a very pretty game that doesn't have much else going for it. That said, I think it's a game that could've really come into its own if it got a sequel.
I remember playing game once on an emulator many years ago, so seeing this brought back sooo many memories. It’s a bit sad that the series isn’t well known, I think it’s got such a cute mascot that would’ve gone places imo.
the only mention / acknowledgement of Ristar that I can recall is him appear as a statue of some sort on one of the tracks in a recent Sega racing title that and being included on the Sega Genesis collection (ps2 PSP) & sonics ultimate Genesis collection... so not TOTALLY forgotten but still not enough love. Ristar is one of my all time favs. would most definitely put it in my top 10 of all time
I love classic platformers, and I may need to try Ristar. Also, you may want to take a look at Aero the Acro-Bat as well. That's another overlooked classic platformer. Also you deserve more views, the production quality is great. This video is seriously something I expect form a bigger content creator.
Can you review some Treasure games? Like Gunstar Heroes, Dynamite Headdy, Alien Soldier, Mischief Makers, Radiant Silvergun, Sin and Punishment and Ikaruga?
I enjoyed the video, but you should have it in a 4:3 ratio, since that would make it suited to 4:3 displays (rather than having the video windowboxed). I've a 4:3 CRT, so that's the best way for me to watch this, given that the visuals look kinda crap on flatscreens (at least for me). There wouldn't be any issues for 16:9 displays, since UA-cam automatically adds bars on to 4:3 videos.
I also played Ristar on a Collection - a GameCube one. Its gorgeous but its gameplay kinda sucks - though I was more disappointed with how absolutely generic its design was. I've beaten Ristar twice and its forgettable aside from that final boss. A reboot could do the game wonders as all it needs is some decent lore and improved gameplay.
huh, I always thought it was pronounced “rye-star” like, Rising Star…🤔 Though it is a Japanese game, so I can understand why you’d use their pronunciation of “i.” Although just because Japan pronounces it a certain way doesn’t automatically make it correct to Western English. (I’m looking at you Titus from Final Fantasy X!!)
It's kinda cool being one of the first to join this channel before it gets really big. Because this channel is definitely going somewhere.
Haha, I'm glad to have you on board and I hope you're right!
I absolutely love Ristar! One of my favorite genesis games. Just found your channel randomly, love this type of content. Looking forward to more!

1:17 "grabbed me the most" nice unintentional pun 😅

You should do a video review on Vectorman. That’s one of my favorite franchises ever for the Sega Genesis.😃
Great video. Keep doing more like these.
Recommend the Chibi robo, Ape escape, or Conker

I believe it is technically pronounced rye-star. I just grew up calling it ree-star and never heard differently.
I sware the Game Gear is better.
