    1:17 Jazzy Intro
    23:54 Intro/verse1
    33:49 Prechorus1
    37:14 Intro/Verse2
    37:55 Prechorus2
    42:14 Chorus1
    50:34 Verse3(Chord verse)
    57:40 Prechorus3
    1:00:34 Chorus2
    1:01:47 Jazzy Interlude
    1:19:44 Prechorus4
    1:21 Chorus3 & Ending
This is my attempt at rolling three of my early videos into one updated complete one. This is the Jazzy Intro to Neon from Where the Light is, continuing into the full song, including the middle jazzy interlude, all with onscreen TAB. I redid the entire TAB from scratch and fixed a lot of minor errors and timing issues here and there. My old vids taught the sextuplet raking in a way different from what John Mayer was doing so this also corrects that bit.
The TAB is note for note but I do switch to "economy" instruction for the 3rd and 4th choruses and 3rd, 4th, and 5th Prechoruses in the video for example. I'm sure you'll agree that the variations are either minor, or on the other hand, so greatly improvised that it is best to give a general idea over note for note instruction in those cases. The Jazzy intro and Interlude are all note for note, as are the major variations like the chord verse in verse 3.
It's on the long side, even after I edited the heck out of it to make it as short as could be, but all of my vids turn out like that. If you want note for note detail, things tend to get loooong. People wanting short and sweet will have to look elsewhere.
I'll be pointing the old videos to this one over the next few days.
On another note I'll be putting up PAYPAL donate buttons on my vids soon. Friends have been telling me for years to charge for the tabs, even $1, etc, and considering I spend weeks on them and days on the vids, it sometimes doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I'm all about FREE and just looking to be kept in fresh guitar strings. A donate button may do the trick. In any case, the vids will always have tabs onscreen even if I decide to sell the electronic copies down the road.
    I hope you enjoy it!
    Cheers!

This guys getting into heaven for sure. Learning the hardest John Mayer song and then making an hour and a half long tutorial for it for free is definitely a ticket to the good place lmao

You know other than learning the song, the main thing that I got out of this video is that it reassured me how good of a guitar player John Mayer is.

It may not sound like much, what with me sitting behind a computer and commenting..but I greatly appreciate this video. For the past month, I sat down, learned, and played along with you. Countless hours rewinding this video trying to get it down perfectly. Your did an excellent job, enough to make me comment (which is something I hardly ever do). Liked and subscribed! -Thanks again bro!

@6bonsctt heya! So it seems like you know a LOT about this tutorial. So how accurate is this to the song itself? I'm asking this because I'm comparing this between 2 different tutorials, and this one doesn't have a preview so I'm a bit skeptical about learning all the way to only realize I've been playing it wrong. So what do u think of this tutorial? (Also sorry for bringing you back to a comment u made like 4 years ago haha)

@@seanh9882 its awesome. learn it entirely (at least the riff, chorus, pre chorus and interlude 1 round). Once you know all those groovy parts, you can modify them t your choice!!!

@@seanh9882 Don't even think about trying to learn the tab exactly as it is/note for note...IMPOSSIBLE...this guy has made the tab way too overcomplicated...A lot of the notes this guy puts in isn't actually heard in the actual video..If JOhn Mayer saw this tab he'd be like wtf over complicated.
A lot of the notes played are unintentional notes as well and don't actually make a difference at all if you leave them out

That's so incredible, man. I must say that I have much respect for you now for making this video, and taking the time
to learn the whole live version, cause I'm sure it was tough and challenging and that it required patience.
I have to say I wasn't a big fan of your tutorials, due to your sound and technique, I read some posts talking about this
in previous videos, and I kind of agreed with them. But I realize now that it doesn't really matter how you sound in
the tutorials, not to mention opinions are all subjective.
The important thing is that you are really passionate about what you do, and one can tell that in every tutorial you've made. Besides, since it's a tutorial, maybe you are not that focused in playing the songs the perfect way or getting the coolest sound out of the guitar. But I'm sure playing live, you rock.
I really hope you keep doing this kind of things, because it's so helpful to all of us guitar players and beginners, who are
dreamers, just like you are, man.
This song in particular I've always found it so cool and complex, and in my opinion requires an advanced fingerpicking technique. And that's one of the reasons I didn't want to learn it then. But now I've challenged myself to go ahead and learn it from the very beginning, and I know it's gonna be hard and tedious, but that's the way it goes with this kind of music. It wouldn't be that cool if it weren't hard. And it's so great that people like you become passionate about artists like Mayer and dedicate a big part of their time teaching and transmiting good knowledge to the viewers.
Wish you all the best, and never stop dreaming!
    Thanks for everything.

Btw funny how John mayer makes a new solo for like every live performance. Maybe you should do an entire video on solo variations :)

This is awesome! I am so looking forward to learning this...John Mayer is one of the reasons I wanted to learn to play! My *former*guitar teacher doesn't like JM (huh?) and so wouldn't teach any. Finally, the real deal. Thanks!
