  • Hi!! Thanks for visiting my procreate watercolor painting channel 😌
    __________
    👉🏼 RESOURCES:
    To get the effect/texture, I'm using a watercolor paper texture along with some brushes.

    👉🏼 ABOUT THIS VIDEO
    In this video I show you how to paint simple moths and butterflies in procreate. These are really fast and easy, and you can turn them into a collage that makes for a great print.
    How do you paint watercolor in procreate?
    By combining some special brushes and a watercolor paper texture, we can paint in this watercolor style. All the brushes, textures, and materials are linked above. They all come with video instruction on how to use them, so it's something your can use even if you are totally new to Procreate.

    👉🏼 PRINT YOUR ARTWORK:
    Here's the printer I use:
    amzn.to/3q2mKk7
    I prefer this one because it's just so easy to get amazing colors and rich, textured shading. This printer is not suitable for printing tiny stuff, like postage stamp size, because it's only going to do 150dpi. That's good enough for a greeting card or anything larger (I prefer to print larger stuff anyways).

    You have the best UA-cam voice out there. And I love what you said about struggling with your own perfectionism. We all have to let perfectionism go. Keep making videos please.

    I never would have considered moths as a subject, but they look really neat. I’m completely guilty of over-perfectionism, so thanks for the reminder that what I see as a “flaw” is someone else’s “character”!

      💕 thank you so much! Perfectionism has always been my struggle but I'm trying to get better. Simple and loose projects like the moths are great exercises that help. I think allowing flaws and working with them is the fastest way to find your own unique style of painting.

    Beautifullllll as always! So simple! I would have never picked these colors (I tend to go bright and fairly saturated) but these more muted tones are so calming! I can totally see this being beautiful nursery room art! Thanks for sharing, Calvin!

    Hi Calvin, thanks for the video, it's great 🙂 I've noticed that when I use Splatter Abstract Round, with each touch/stroke, the color tone changes. Which brush feature in the settings section causes this effect please? Would you consider making a video about all your brushes and what effects we can get from using each? Of course it comes with practice, but a dedicated video would be much appreciated 😊

    Thanks for the tutorial. Would you consider making beetles? Also can you advise the size canvas and color setting you would recommend to use if day I want to print artwork to be framed on a wall like your examples? Tía 🙏🏽

      Beatles are a great idea!!! Thank you so much for your ideas and kind support of my channel.
      People have very different workflows, but I have found that 4000px by 5000px is large enough tho print almost any size of wall art. Larger prints are usually printed at lower DPI anyways, because you aren't looking at a huge artwork extremely closely. I have always preferred to work in sRGB because I can always convert down to CMYK. In fact, I hardly do that becuase printers usually have a near perfect conversion to CMYK built into the machine.

    Hi, i really enjoy all of the watercolor painting here, can you make a video how to draw one of the animal that i haven't see here, a cute dog... I really love dog, but was unable to find a tutorial, many cats, but no dogs at all ... Sad...

    • @calvinatdrifterstudio8438
      @calvinatdrifterstudio8438  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much 🥰
      I'm working on a process for painting dogs but it's really difficult because each breed has a unique shape. Cats are easier because it's mostly the fur that makes them different. I'll make a video as soon as I find a way :)

    I’m using the same brushes but your work looks much more textured. Also when I draw over another line it doesn’t blend, it creates big awkward overlays. How do I fix this?

    • @calvinatdrifterstudio8438
      @calvinatdrifterstudio8438  7 місяців тому

      There are a few common things that I see going wrong - it's easier for me to see which one if I can see a screenshot of what you mean. Can you send me one on etsy using the chat thingy?
      here are the common issues with the texture:
      1. not using the paper texture correctly (make sure you watch the setup tutorial for the kit becuase it shows this visually and I think that's easier to understand)
      2. painting above the paper texture instead of below
      Regarding the brushes not blending, I'm not exactly sure without seeing a screenshot, but here are some things to check:
      1. are you using an Apple Pencil 1 or 2? or is in another stylus?
      2. are you using the water blending brush?

  • @samanthawoodall3059
    @samanthawoodall3059 2 роки тому +1

    Any tips for blending? I bought your set from procreate but it never looks like your tutorials 😭

    • @calvinatdrifterstudio8438
      @calvinatdrifterstudio8438  2 роки тому +1

      Hi! Thank you so much for your support ❤️ can you send me a screenshot of what your brushes look like when you use them? You can send it to me with the Etsy 'message seller' thing. That will open up a live chat with me and we can find out what's going wrong. Usually it's something we can fix in a few minutes 😁
      If I had to guess, there are 2 common reasons for brushes not looking right:
      1. The brush require an apple pencil so they get pressure sensitivity data
      2. The brushes work best with the default procreate pressure curve settings. You might have to reset your custom setting back to defaults.
      There are a few other more rare possibilities, but I will be able to tell the exact cause from seeing a screenshot of exactly how the brushes are working in your specific case.
