- The plaintiff rented a home the defendant owned. When the plaintiff moved out, the defendant didn't return her security deposit even though he had no complaints, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff didn't give him enough notice when she moved out, and she painted the walls and caused holes.

The government obviously feels like her or their income is accepted. Just because someone has section doesn't mean their rent is low. Section 8 could be paying a small portion of her or their rent. Section 8 makes you turn in all pay stubs etc.
A passport is like 150$ and vacations out the country can be as cheap as 700$ per person all inclusive. Get ya money up.

Why do you all assume section 8 recipients don’t pay rent? Or work? Or know how to save? All s8 does is allows the tenant to rent at a cheaper rate not free rent. And what does her man living with her have anything to do with it?!
Also donating furniture can help you get a tax write off.

A working individual who can't afford their rent and is honest about those in the household, I have no issue with them receiving assistance. HOWEVER, if they are able bodied, refuse to work and lie about others in the household, I have a HUGE issue with them receiving assistance. Of course we all deserve to be happy and take vacations, but it does hit differently when your tax dollars are funding those who refuse to help themselves.... Just saying....
Being on section 8 doesn’t mean that those people don’t pay rent or aren’t able to work. They just were able to qualify because they don’t make over a certain amount. They pay a portion of rent based on the income.
@@Queenofbeautiful I appreciate your perspective, however, there are a lot of people on assistance who choose to not work. Unfortunately, someone I grew up with is one of those individuals. They have 3 children, now married (hides the spouse's belongings during inspection, and actually admits it) and quit a job they had for less than a year because they were "over traffic". Yet, they still are able to keep their assistance. They are completely able bodied and have shown that they indeed can work, yet, they get to quit and still have rent paid by others.... It infuriates me and, I'm sure, millions of other working, tax paying citizens. If it does not bother you, that's your prerogative. Hope you have a wonderful evening 😊
What about when your tax dollars go towards weapons of war and keeping kids in cages? I know people who have section 8, their rent is 3200..they work so they pay 3000 and section 8 pays $200. So people need to stop believing in the rhetoric they've been fed. How about doing a little research on what percent of taxes come out of your income and how much money that really is before you decide to talk about how much money you're giving towards any social services. Besides those same people are paying taxes...we all do...except the right and nobody ever says anything about that. Smdh

You might have missed the portion of my comment that said some people work and still need help, and that's what the assistance was designed to do. I don't think anyone is negating that. However, as I previously stated, there are people who are able to work and choose not to and are somehow still able to receive assistance.
Depending on your dependents and where you live, you could make almost 6 figures and be on section eight. Lots of hard working people are on section eight. Usually these people are from NYC.

I LOVE how Section 8 people get to go on vacation!!!!!! I work 3 jobs, pay 1800 a month in rent with no help.. It really does pay better to be "poor"...Free food, college, medical, housing, dental, childcare.

We are supporting the life style of over 68% of a certain population. I was a landlord - rented to section 8. I was asking for $1,200 a month. after the section 8 inspection, the sec. 8 people said they would pay me $2,400 a month!. Double of my advertisement! this happens 90% of the time. They don't care about our money.. sec. 8 should be eliminated, it's a scam on the American people. basically paying for vote for the democrat party.

Section 8 needs to have a limit, 1 year! If you can't get your stuff together in that time then tuff. Its enabling people to just be extremely lazy and have no drive to do better for themselves. If you're not disabled, a single parent working and going to school or elderly, you have 1 year. Drug testing, monthly inspections, no animals... Like what the hell is wrong with the system, it is so broken and its creating broken people. 🤦♀️ Absolutely absurd ..
The defendant didn’t provide an itemized letter but I believe that the plaintiff was lying when she said she gave two months notice to vacate. First she said she decided to move right at the end of her lease, then when the judge questioned her she cleaned it up and said she told him in March.

Yes I'm on section 8..... I didn't find out because I was on vacation over seas! You can't make that up. I can't believe the huberance that this person is getting their rent paid for by tax payers who have to scrape & save for a vacation. It's just sad. People use to be embarrassed to be on welfare now they feel entitled to it. Obviously want to help our citizens who need help but if your going on vacation you don't need it! Not defending the plaintiff in this case, but she is in Florida. Overseas in her mind could be a cruise to the Bahamas. Cruises out of Florida ports can be had for a couple hundred bucks.
@bryanhenderson9637 government assistance is for necessities. So even if it was only $200 (which is completely low balling it) shouldn't that money's go to others in need instead of 1's vacation? Maybe a family went hungry that week because their wasn't enough benefits and budget came up $200 short. How would you feel knowing someone was on vacation though & you unfortunately were down & needed help feeding yourself/family & this woman is talking about her vacation? With Section 8, I don't believe the government sends them money directly. I believe the government sends the money directly to the landlord and the tenant has to pay the rent balance. So, it isn't like money is in their bank account to spend on other things.
Also, a 4 day western Caribbean cruise using Carnival Cruises start at 239, so, yes they are that cheap.

There was a time I was very poor and I had family member pay for my vacation just bc they wanted me to go and they knew my struggles. So you never know why or how she took her vacation. My sister was literally told by her case worker she should quit her job and she would get all the government assistance she needed as a single mom because she didn't qualify for any help working her full time job at Walmart! She chose to struggle rather than be supported by the system because she had too much pride! People that use the system want an easy ride and don't feel bad about it at all. Says alot about a person's character!

Legalities made JM give this Plaintiff some money back; the Plaintiff deserves NOTHING back. I do not understand how she is in a Section 8 apartment but saving up to go on a vacation; that's not fair to tax paying citizens.

You can travel for cheap. My sister went to Columbia for $109 (roundtrip) and stayed with friends while there. So she was out less than $300 for a full vacation. I can literally book a roundtrip to Spain for $219 right now. And...people get income tax or money from other ways and are allowed to live once in a while. You shouldn't want people to feel like sht their entire life, just because they can't afford things 99% of the time.

Landlords must always give an itemized repair list to tennants between 11-30 days (each state varies on timeline) if they are to keep ANY part of the security deposit.

I advise renters to video the walk through with the landlord with audio. Take pictures too because most will keep some or all of your deposit. It doesn’t matter if you leave the property immaculate!

I just moved out from a duplex .. Rented for 12 yrs, paid on time, no payment arrangements, property condition w/o debris, or damages. Suddenly, Landlord claimed deposit was a "cleaning" deposit, contrary to rental agreement that specifie, "Security deposit"

Over 50% of my tribal nation force the Government to pay something for them.
The Government builds them homes and within 5 years those houses are trashed because they know that the Government will come in and rebuild their homes.
People who live in the Projects destroy EVERYTHING because they know that the Government will come in a rebuild whatever they destroy.
I guarantee you that if they had to pay for everything that they destroy, they would learn how to respect what was given to them by the American SLAVES, (taxpayers).

The last family who I rented to under section 8 absolutely destroyed my house.
I had just remodeled the 1940s house in a very well kept neighborhood.
The bratty children decided to make Spaghetti out of the looped carpeting. They destroyed the new berber carpeting.
The parents decided that it was a good idea to make a large hole in the wall between the kitchen and dining room so that they watch their brats make spaghetti from the carpeting in the living room that was next to the herringbone hardwood floors in the dining room.
The front covered porch was surrounded with used brick about 4 feet tall. The pillars holding up the roof of the covered front porch were destroyed by their horrible kids, who took a claw hammer to the brick on the inside of the porch because they thought it would be cool to make a “getaway” hole.
Section 8 only paid 10% of the damages, so my homeowners insurance had to pay the 90%, which was over $100K in damages.
Yes I did have the parents arrested and charged with destruction of private property.
The parents got 2 years in jail and their hell raisers were placed in foster care. One child who was 17 at the time was also charged as an adult and spent time in jail as well.
I had section 8 housing for a few tenants in an apartment complex that I own. They too destroyed the apartments they lived in.
So NEVER AGAIN will I rent to someone on section 8 housing.
Each month that my properties cannot be rented because of people who have NO respect for themselves or anyone else, I lost money on.
I had one renter who lived in the same apartment for over 30 years.
She kept her apartment immaculate.
I offered several times to install new carpet in her apartment but she refused, so when she finally had to move into an assisted living facility I replaced her Orange, tan, yellow and brown Shag carpet from the early 70s, which still looked like new.
I had an elderly man who rented from me for over 10 years before he died of cancer. His apartment was immaculate as well.
I rewarded my good tenants with only raising their rent by $5.00 per month, when I’d have to raise everyone else’s rent by $50.00 to $75.00 per month. I hated to raise anyone’s rent but the cost of water, sewer and garbage kept going up.
For those who quickly judge her for being on section 8
I have learned long ago to stop judging how “poor folks” navigate existing in this world. While we focus on and judge the next person, no one is focused on the huge companies that make millions and get corporate welfare that we also pay for
If I’m going to complain I will focus on the billionaires flying private jets that are paid for by my taxes, not someone taking a small vacation

And just in case anyone is thinking I must be on public assistance, no , I have worked two nursing jobs and created a business that I am always nurturing on my days off
I just recognize that it’s tough for many to survive this world for a variety of reasons
I also know the wealthy in this world get many more breaks that are never focused on

and the wealthy keep doing what they do in plain sight but no one notices …

Best thing to do is video tape a walkthrough with the owner/manager or even alone making sure to prove the date(newspaper etc in video)

My sister owns a 3 floor house, fortunetly, she has never had problems or issues with renters who are on Section 8. But most of them are so entitled and feel like people owe them something but in reality, they should be THANKFUL and appreciative of landlords like my sister. My sister has bought this house years ago and has yet been able to afford updated nice furniture or carpeting for her own apartment but those who are on section 8 in her building have really nice kitchen cabinets, flooring, and up to date clean bathroom. It's sickening how these individuals feel like they should get everything for free. SMH.
Also when families are on section 8. They have programs to help them to be able to do more when the income changes for the better..

In all fairness, family members could have paid for her overseas trip. But she lied about damages being there when she moved in, she probably was scamming section 8 & did pay for her trip. But living in section 8, that’s how she saved the money at the government’s expense…

The $1000 given back to this man was an unfair amount because what is claimed as damage does not equate to the amount given to this man for not returning her security department. And it is sad there are those on Section 8 abusing this privilege.

What people DO know is if someone receives assistance it is because they don't have enough income to pay their full living expenses... so what angers people is the fact that if they have enough money to go on trips overseas they should have enough money to NOT receive section 8!

Landlords who participate in Section 8 are guaranteed rent & required to abide by inspection standards. You don't get claim damages when both parties signed up for it.
