      Lol, growing my dad use to make it all the time and honestly it wasn’t my favorite but I grew to love it. The veggie chunks and ackee is a must try. I’ve had them separately on the same plate but not cook up together.

    People like to diss turn cornmeal but it’s actually delicious. Went to a job interview at a very reputable company in the states and this thing called “polenta” was on the menu. It was supposedly an Italian dish, come to find out it’s our same old tun cornmeal. It was delicious as I’m sure yours is

    • @AuthenticPlantbasedEats
      @AuthenticPlantbasedEats  4 роки тому +1

      True, the polenta and the turn meal is the same thing just the preparation and ingredients might be slightly different.
      I agree with you. For something that taste soo good, cheap and convenient some people look down on and wouldn’t eat, while it’s top class at various restaurants. I love my turn meal, and especially in a time like this, it comes right in hand.
      Thank you, it was delicious!

    • @AuthenticPlantbasedEats
      @AuthenticPlantbasedEats  4 роки тому

      Thank you! I currently resides in Florida and this specific brand I bought at a local supermarket called "Western Beef" in the international section. However you can purchase it at any local supermarket such as Walmart or any Health food store. If you cannot find it at the store you can purchase it online if possible. The veggie chunks comes in a variety of brands. If you don’t see veggie chunks look for soya chunks or Texturized vegetable protein.

    Taste and flavour was great! But how do I get the chunks to not be so chewy? I did add sweet potatoe, carrots, butterbeans. Thanks

    • @AuthenticPlantbasedEats
      @AuthenticPlantbasedEats  Рік тому +1

      You can boil the chunks for 15- 20 minutes instead of soaking in hot water. The chunks will be softer/a bit less chewy.

    Tun cornmeal looks delicious, do I have to put the coconut oil? Whats the purpose of using it?

    • @AuthenticPlantbasedEats
      @AuthenticPlantbasedEats  4 роки тому

      Thank you! Honestly it’s optional. I just like the flavor that unrefined coconut oil gives the tun cornmeal.

  • @DippySippy
    @DippySippy 3 роки тому +1

    It was similar to an africa food untill you put the veg in the fufu. Cant the veg be blended instead of chunky in africa we swallow our fufu aka corn meal lol. Everything else pefect. Thank you.

    • @AuthenticPlantbasedEats
      @AuthenticPlantbasedEats  3 роки тому +1

      Lol you’re welcome. You can try to blend it to recreate that dish. The texture/ consistency might not be the same though.

      @@AuthenticPlantbasedEats we usually dont add anything to the fufu ( which is corn meal, plaintain flour, cassava flour and yam flour) but i will add some of your engridient blend it all, so it can be easy on swallowing. Thank you so much im loving your recipes. I also make nice recipes. Are you on instagram?
