This is a beautiful car to look at and drive. It's not Italian in its performance, but surprisingly fun for a Volvo! And I'm brand loyal :)
When it comes to looks, the 1800ES is probably my favorite. So stunning!

My mother's pride and joy was a red one. I still say they are one of the ten most beautiful cars of ALL TIME.

The Volvo 1800ES was in Denmark nicknamed Snow White's Coffin.
Thank so much for showing this beautiful ES. I picked one up recently and I have zero clue where to start. It's been messed with and definitely not in the shape your's is in.
I love the look and the lines. Amazing the following these have, especially the coupes, but I prefer the ES.
My wife ownedone for years, same color even. Loved the car, but her’s was an automatic …with a 4 speed and OD we’d still own it. I was spoiled with my 1800S with that transmission.
I still ownthat one and a 2000V70XC.
Bought one from the original owner in 1989 for $6800; was 19 years old so I didn’t appreciate what I had. Sold it in 2006 for $3500 (guess I still didn’t appreciate what I had). If there’s a way to ban me from UA-cam please do so.

In Germany it`s called " schneewittchensarg " witch means Snow Whites Coffin effectively and not in a negative sense. 👩
This is a beautiful car. Had one like that in gold color ages ago and it brings back nice memories.

Beautiful car, beautiful colour. I've always wanted to drive an 1800, particularly an ES. I think I would fit. At 6'3" and a 34 inch inseam, some cars are quite difficult and some are impossible. I have had to be pulled out of more than one because I got stuck half way in.

Beautiful vehicle. The exhaust sounds great too. Although not as sweet as Ivy's six can sound.
Buying and owning a car back in the seventies was different. You could buy a car which had a unique character. The styling was quite different to a Ford or a GM. Today I'm sad to say there is a convergence of style, specification and driver experience. The good old days are gone. (sorry about showing my age)
There really were more different automotive body shapes and styles back then. The 1800ES is certainly one of the more unique. This is my car and I'm fortunate to have it.

This P 1800 ES is unique, even the rims, I know Volvo brought the P1800ES maybe 3 or 4 years ago, I believe it was a limited edition based on the original model
This is my car. These wheels weren't stock for the ES. The previous owner swapped in wheels from an 1800E. I am very pleased with them as they're my favorite wheels of all the 1800 models.
@@SteveLowtwait they look awesome,sporty, Volvo made a car that looks like the original P1800,just like your car but with modern tecnology,this was produced in the 90s or 2000 the car was made like a newer version of the P1800.

I like how the 1972 bumpers are tucked closer to the body. Different on my 1973. Seems to run great 👍🏻
This is my car. I hadn't known the bumpers were different on the two years of ES. I just looked up some photos and you're right. Interesting detail.
The changes in the bumpers were because of changes in bumper standards. In 72 the height range got standardized. In 73, front bumpers had to withstand a 5 mph impact and rear a 3 mph impact. Had there been a 74, the bumpers would have changed yet again, as they did on the 164, because both bumpers had to meet the 5 mph standard.

I owned the 1972 version of the car, same color. The cam wore down after 5K mile, then the fuel,injectors leaked. The OEM tires really built up my arm muscles nevertheless I still loved the csr.

Woo hoo first comment. Sweet car!! The steering wheel on these always look wrong to me, but cool at the same time. They almost look like a hearse on the inside when you look back from the driver's seat.
This is my car. Looking toward the back is even neater when the back seat is folded down for more cargo space.

The 1800ES is fuel injected. No carburetors here. But it does have a great sound!
full throttle and holding your phone with a cop in the side mirror, thats how you do it
There may be an issue with the gear driving the odometer/speedo cable. My 73 shows about 10% under in terms of mileage recorded. (Driving a "measured mile" on the interstate shows about 0.9 mi on the odometer). This has the effect of making fuel consumption seem higher than it really is.
Those seats look so comfortable, check out petrolicious P1800 Design Cue it sums these cars up perfectly.
This is my car and the seats are quite comfortable. And I've seen that Petrolicious video. It's a good one.

Mod? It has EFI.
@@delukxy IPD apparently makes replacement FI, but I agree with you, keep the Bosche OEM in place if you can get it sorted properly.
