i love how at the end of the dark i know well martha walked back to the side with the adult male and ilse ran away to the other side, showing that she got out. that was a cool touch and i don't think they did it in the original show. it was also really powerful how they had the boys behind them putting their hands on them and martha and ilse just stood there super still and helpless. this production is really well done.
Wow, I am absolutely blown away by the actress who plays Wendla's singing. Damn. She's as good as original Broadway cast in my opinion! All the girls harmonized so we'll!
this is literally hands-down the most gorgeous production of this show I've ever seen. the choreography alone literally almost brought me to tears, and the casting could not have been more perfect. this was the most loving and genuine performance of The Word of Your Body Reprise I've ever witnessed, even more than the obc and dwsa productions, and just all the little expressions from the actors made me so insanely happy. this is truly the only version of this scene where it truly showed that they love each other. this production was just breath taking and im amazed by everyone involved!
the choreography throughout this entire show is absolutely amazing, it just takes an already amazing show to a whole new level with even more feeling. but it was especially the choreo in touch me, dark i know well, and left behind that really caught my eye. also chip might be my new favorite melchior edit: i just got to word of your body reprise and god damn that was perfect edit part 2: i’ve now gotten to song of purple summer and oh my god this is the best ending i love it so much and madeline is now my favorite ilse, literally everything about this production is done so freaking well

Wow! I'm usually rather critical with amateur productions, but I couldn't fault it! Absolutely fantastic performance- the choreography in particular! Excellent job 👏
I love the "Mama Who Bore Me" reprise. It's my fave song in the score. I was thrilled to see the staging and movement. So powerfully done and vocally SPOT ON!!!!
@@ringerpaul3118 Yaaaaaasssss! I teach young people musical theater and one of my high school senior students was cast as one of the reprise singers and she told the musical director, my old teacher is coming so we better have those harmonies right! Happy to say they sounding like bells pealing, the harmonies rang so hard. SIGH!!!
It was so so good! My only comment about this cast is they had no soul. All the songs were a little flat emotionally (not in tone). It didn’t have that pop rock grunge. But this is a awesome cast. All together maybe this wasn’t a school with very strong singers, maybe straight actors who happen to sing. Not Musical Theatre Actors. But the ACTING itself was pretty good and the choreography was good.
Really good overall performance completely undermined by a too-electric, too-loud pit in which someone should have told the bass player that he or she was upstaging and overwhelming absolutely everything else. This production should have been called Bass Awakening.
There was a lot about this production that I appreciate - and that even does better than the Broadway version. But the choice to insert an actual gunshot sound effect, followed by a certain someone wandering dazed around the stage super took me out of the moment and made me think someone who doesn't know the show would be confused by what just happened. It was literally the only time when that scene has made me feel nothing instead of the usual stopped heart/breath and overwhelming sense of loss. Not digging that choice.
agreed, even though this is by far the best non-broadway version i've seen so far, i didn't like the gunshot sound effect and seeing Moritz wander around after (this is the second production i've seen on UA-cam that made this choice). i just don't think it's as powerful as the silence and immediate cut to dark, which makes you see death from Moritz's perspective--- which is just darkness and silence. but, for people who haven't seen the way it's done in the original broadway, maybe it works. it's hard to not compare them when you've seen the original. that said, this Melchior and Wendla were both absolutely incredible, and props to them going so far with the sex scene. Left Behind, Dark I Know Well, and Totally Fucked were also SO good here.
Great show. Very well done. Strange choice to put the masturbation scene on the catwalk. Maybe you should of offered the people sitting underneath umbrellas or something.
I officially have a new favourite ilse Her voice is so beautifully silky and unpredictable and in IDDS that contrast with Moritz’ gravelly vocals that are almost him yelling in pain Are just unexplainably chefs kiss 😊 Edit 1- i find nothing funnier than in totally f the screech of AnSWEr MEee
