Visiting our country is good. But long term residence and citizenship for foreigners would not be adviced as we are already overpopulated and we are still a developing nation. So hopefully in 10 years we could be in better situation. Worst case senerio maybe 20.

about the "permission" hassle for HIKING in FOREST , there is a background about this security concern specially for the safety of foreigners. This Chittagong Hill tracts still have some risk zones deep into the hiking trails where some "non-bangladeshi" separatists group lurk in through the unprotected border with Myanmar and Mizoram and abduct NGO personnels mostly. Our security forces , ARMY and Border Guards are eventually conducting safety drills throughout the year to make this place more and more safe than ever. It'll need some more time to fully withdraw this "Permission procedure" for the safety issue of our guests - foreigners. More border roads and Security Force outposts are under construction. Once fully guarded border is ensured, hopefully these issues will soon be eradicated.
On the last part of Hotel issue, it's really shameful for the Hotel authority for not treating our guests in an appropriate manner. We are really sorry for you having to face this unfortunate issue with the hotel management.
Love and respect to you guys.

And in Sikkim same issues come in front and we had faces so many obligation back in 2017. But nowadays it became change and they tried to make more easy and quick permission procedure and bla bla. But I surprised the Hotel authority should not act like with the any kinda tourist. He clarify this before check in. MICHAEL I dont wanna see ur gloomy face ever u r the guy full of CHEERs. Always try to keep smiling. I m sorry buddy best of Luck.

White foreigners / westerners I guess are seen as *"Ransom-mines"* (like 'goldmine') by these armed criminals, terrorists, separatists, bandits and what not!! These restrictions may feel saddeningly restrictive, but they are wise nevertheless.

Tourism were open on those places until 2015 where there were some problems with local insurgents and two Bangladeshi tourists went missing. After that, many places are still restricted not only for foreigners but local tourists also. You might find it interesting that the top peaks of Bandarban was first explored by a British traveler in 2005 and he set the route to some other difficult peak as well.
Anyway, bandarban is really a gem. I was lucky enough to explore in many places deep inside Bandarban. And the three country intersection is not accessible from the place where you are standing. You have to go there from neighboring district or you may also start trekking from Ruma which is a long hike. Enjoy your time here.

As I shared my opinion about visiting Bandarban District; when we met in Dhaka after you returned seeing Daud Kim at Banani... It's the best place in Bangladesh to explore and adventure together. We visited these places in May 2017 and you just brought back those magical memories.
Try to visit again during the rainy season because the cloud comes lot close after the rain and sometimes you can go above the same if you stay in a higher position on the mountains... just magical experience indeed.
Last recommendation : please try to spend at least 1 day+night at 'Sairu Hill Resort' to have memorable evening time with coffee at the Amazing Dining Room.

Hi Michael and Gigi! I've been watching your adventures in Bangladesh since you guys came here. Your videos are absolutely amazing and I love that you're going to a lot of remote places where foreigners hardly ever go! I love how you two have embraced our country, especially the way you try to speak Bengali. Big fan🙌🏽🙌🏽
I'm sorry you had to face some hassle in Bandarban. Actually, the hill areas of the Chittagong division only opened up to proper tourism very recently and sadly it is still very much a local thing to do. There are some insurgent groups that operate from the deep forests in Bandarban and other hill districts. That's the reason why you needed permissions from many different authorities. Trust me, it's for your own safety. Hopefully you guys will be back again soon and hopefully things would improve by then!
Also, if I may add, the word উপজাতি (upojati) is actually quite derogatory for the tribes that live there. You can use the word আদিবাসী (adibashi) instead in your video title.
Lots of love and admiration for you two for the way you're displaying my beautiful country ❤

Verry good suggestions guys about preserving the local culture and making it easily accessible for foreigners. The reason behind this place is being highly monitored is because there are insurgency groups in cth hill tracts and you guys being foreigners, those groups can cause you harm. Those groups are not that active after the peace treaty in the mid 90s but every now and then they cause isolated incidents and that's why the gov & the military has put some restrictions on free movements in that region for everyone's safety.

Amazing video... at the end of your trip, it will be great to see a recap vlog, where you share experience /views on the different parts of Bangladesh (from the small village of Shimulia, tea gardens in Sylhet, skyscrapers in Gulshan and Chittagong hill tracts).
As for the challenges mentioned in this video about traveling to Nilgiri, despite some of the security issues outlined by others in the comment section, the government can make it much simpler. For example, have foreigners submit an online form (with the ability to upload ID), which records information and gives an instant pass. Will reduce the hassle greatly.

Really loved how organic and true your travel story. Hill tracks are very restricted in Bangladesh. I have relatives, colleagues who are internationals and this is also a hassle for us to get the permission. There has been many unrest before. Hope you found more things to enjoy in your Bangladesh trip!
