      Thank you for saying that! Videos take a lot of time for me (I'm pretty slow at it), so it feels nice to have someone see the effort! 🥰

    This is such a helpful video! We just switched from Math With Confidence Grade 1 to Primary Math 2022 1a. So far, we really like it. Please keep us updated, I'd love to hear how it's going throughout the year!

      Thank you! And I'll try to update as time goes on:) We originally switched because I didn't feel like he was quite ready for grade 1 (he is young for his grade), and its been a great fit for him!

      Hi Amie!
      Why did you switch from MWC to Singapore?

    This is so helpful! Thank you! I noticed in your most recent kindergarten picks that you're using TGATB math this year. How does it compare to these?

    • @karifacer
      @karifacer  2 місяці тому +1

      I’m so glad it was helpful! That’s a good question! I’ve been comparing them in my head the last few months haha. I really love the Good and the Beautiful. It’s simple in that it doesn’t require a lot of prep work or tons of manipulatives. It’s fun and the activities are very engaging! I enjoy it and my son loves it too! One complaint I have is that I wish it were more systematic in how the concepts are taught. It also feels slightly more advanced in certain topics than both the other curriculums, like you learn numbers greater than 10 very early on. So I wouldn’t use it with a kid that struggles with math. I would definitely download it for free on their website and take a good look at it! I’ve been debating on using MWC or TGTB for the next level since we are almost done with TGTB Kindergarten math.

    So, you completed MWC & then did Singapore for more practice? Which one do like more?

    • @karifacer
      @karifacer  2 роки тому +2

      Yes! I didn't feel like my son was quite ready to move on to first grade math so we did Singapore. And to be honest, I don't know if I like one more than the other. My 6 yr. old seems to prefer Singapore and I think it is a better fit for him. But if I were doing this with my older son, I would have picked MWC for him because he prefers more games and less workbooks.

    So, I already bought Math with Confidence K to use next year. But I would like to add more number sense without buying a whole new curriculum. Any ideas to do that?

    • @karifacer
      @karifacer  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Amy! Something the curriculum suggests at each checkpoint, is just re-visiting the activities in the lessons until you feel they are ready to move on. There are also lots of free game ideas on Pinterest. Kate Snow does have a couple supplemental books, Addition Facts that Stick, and Subtraction Facts That Stick. I haven't used either of them, but the reviews are great! We have also bought card games that have math built into them, like, Clumsy Thief Jr., or Rat-A-Tat-Cat. I think most kids probably do just fine with the amount given, my son was just on the younger side when we used it last year, and Math is just trickier for him to grasp!

      I just had one other thought! The Good and The Beautiful do offer their entire math curriculum to download for free. We have occasionally printed off pages from them to do as well, so that might be something to look into!

      @@karifacer Oh this is so helpful!! I definitely want to add more math games into daily life. My daughter will be an older K. She will turn 6 in October. So, it may be just right anyway. :)

    How do you think of this compared to horizons math or apologia ?

    • @karifacer
      @karifacer  10 місяців тому

      I actually haven't looked into Horizons or Apologia much, so I'm not sure.

    • @ann8786
      @ann8786 14 днів тому

      Based on the research that I had done, Horizon is very traditional and has lots of colourful work pages. Apologia is more fun and hands-on, but not thorough. Personally, I prefer MWC or Singapore math. I have both for my kids.

    Is it because mwc is spiral and they come back again to it in grade 1?

    • @karifacer
      @karifacer  Рік тому +1

      Are you referring to the addition and subtraction practice? They do come back to it in grade 1! But it is similar to the kindergarten one in that they cover many topics over the year and then also advance to more difficult topics. You should be able to view the table of contents online though to see what the topics are. I think most kids grasp the concepts fine with the amount of time given, my son just needed more practice!
