I'm seeing and hearing about it 4 years later. That tells you the real power of modern feminism and a complicit mainstream media in silencing people or groups that don't follow their manipulated narratives.
We need to start calling it feminist privilege because any of their allegations or accusations against any person (witness Ms. Jaye as a victim of that propaganda machine) becomes accepted and normalized.

This was my first thought. Her message really needs more exposure, but I’m guessing the nature of her message is why it’s not getting the exposure it deserves. The exposure we need.

Tokra 1 If anything there were more people towards the end as some people I’m sure had already seen the film and just wanted to check out the q and a. This was a Monday afternoon (3pm) and it wasn’t heavily publicized. Cassie Jaye had it on Twitter and Honey Badger Radio made a mention. I was expecting some protest but nothing in that regard. Cal Poly is a commuter school so there’s less of that nonsense than what you see at other campuses.

They chose a very unfortunate name for the documentary. The Red Pill, was a term that already had a bad reputation and many who are against it will actually bring up things based on that term that has absolutely nothing to do with the film.
I have tried getting a couple of people to watch this, they hear the name and they just snarl in disgust and freak out, repeating essentially what the media pointed out, things again that have nothing to do with the film. You can try to explain that, and they just will not hear it. I am not kidding when I say, they treat it like you are attempting to show them some sort of Nazi propaganda.

Feminists tell me that "feminism is about equal rights and gender equality." But whenever I mention any men's issues, such as homelessness or rape against men, the feminists always get really mad and immediately insult and silence me. Anyone else with the same experience?

    • @DionysusVoice

It sounds like you've just put one foot in the rabbit hole. It gets worse.
Not only will they get pissed that you dared to bring up those issues from within feminism, NOW try to form your own men's group to discuss these issues. They'll protest it and tell you that you're wasting your time, because feminism is already working on gender equality.
      It's a catch-22. Oh, the things that dogma will do to one's mind . . .

    • @hazyhalfmoon
      @hazyhalfmoon 6 років тому +9

Feminists are okay talking about men’s issues only if you frame these issues under the feminist lense. So you can say “Men commit more suicide”, but only if you add “Because toxic mesculinity makes them repress their feelings”, etc . Basically you need to accept that all men’s problems are rooted in male behavior or the patriarchal system before the discussion is allowed to continue.

Cassie - I watched The Red Pill last night for the first time without ever hearing about MRA's before. I went in thinking "I'm ready to delve into this world of creepy men who blame their life situation on women". I was very skeptical. After ten minutes I thought "why not just have an open mind? After all - if they are as deluded as I expect them to be then they'll show that via their opinions." I have to say - my eyes have been opened. I finished the documentary thinking.......wow.........this has had a real impact on my world views and I'm going to have to readjust. Thank you for making such an enlightening film.

I showed my son the red pill and he started showing it to the men's groups that we're in.
    It led to good discussions.
But as for the women's organization I work for, I received backlash and I've been treated like I'm a bad man now. Everything I do, say or ideas I have gets shut down and I receive unfair attitude and treatment now.
It's pretty sad because none of them watched the doc but just go off what they think it's about and have a label placed on me whether they admit it or not.

I think Cassie is correct in asserting that this film will slowly build -- and I would say its fair to assume that much of the US is unaware of its existence because of the 'narrative' which public media tends to promulgate. I had no idea about any of this until very recently after beginning to go through my own political awakening. The Raw Files have been enlightening. But that's exactly the point -- more and more people are waking up to what's actually going on.
Thank you Cassie for the work you've done in fighting to bring these things, and the people who have been fighting for them, closer to the public consciousnesses -- and to mine. The many voices which have been drowned out are beginning to be heard.

Thanks for creating The Red Pill. Such a great and profound documentary. I bought my copy from Amazon through your link in the description. I've been subscribed to your channel for quite a while now, and I couldn't keep watching your Raw Files without having watched the actual film. I'm a male but I never knew about the MRA movement, thanks for bringing that movement and its figures to light for me to find. I've had a lot of the same concerns about the treatment of men in society myself. So I am especially grateful to you for showing that I wasn't alone in my observations of the imbalances in our culture when it comes to sex and gender. Again, thanks for creating this documentary, I wish you all the best success in your future endeavors. P.S. Keep the content on this channel coming.

I'm Australian and was pretty baffled by the Australian response, too. As far as I can tell in Australia, most people actually don't give a toss about either feminism or men's rights activism. However, there are definitely feminist and SJW elements that have made their way into powerful positions, which might have been part of the reason for the outcry.

I have felt the feminist grip on Australia for years. I've lost a lot of "friends"... I really don't know how to have hope for honest open dialog, when people are so unwilling to drop their ideological possession. I just want honest connection... The truth only hurts the deluded, and we all are at times. That's why we need each others different perspectives. I believe the "truth" is some where in-between them...

Much respect to Ms. Jaye for publicly acknowledging when she was wrong about various things that countered her feminist ideals. It takes guts and integrity to do so. It speaks to her authenticity.
There's no shame in realizing something new that was shielded from you all this time. Ms. Jaye represents feminism more so than all the modern radical feminism that conveniently forgot what feminism was supposed to be about, which is listening to and considering both sides for true equality.

I'm dispirited by how few people were part of this Q & A and that there seems to be only a couple of women who attended. I find when I bring up the Red Pill documentary and it's subject matter to family and friends their reactions fall between disinterest and hostility. Neither my mom nor girlfriend will consider even watching a few minutes to see if they might find it interesting and my mom in particular is angry that a film like this would even exist. I hope Cassie is right and the flame the film has ignited is a slow burner that will eventually pick up energy, but it doesn't feel that way. I fear that 10 years from now MRA issues won't be known or publicized any more than they are today and Cassie's wonderful film will not have penetrated the public consciousness enough to even be considered forgotten. I really hope I'm wrong.

I only heard about the film about a month ago, and I'm heavily involved in left and trade union circles here in the UK... not a peep about it among my circles; neither on social media or in person! Fantastic documentary and a very interesting Q&A.
You're correct Cassie about it being ahead of its time... I'm convinced that it will become a classic document of the changing direction of western thought; it's profoundly groundbreaking in my view.

I do think it's fair to put you and Jordan Peterson in the same sentence for it was YOU that made my eyes open (and then cry but I digress) first and while searching for mor info fueled by the new purpose YOUR MOVIE gave me that I found Jordan Peterson which then gave me more science-based facts and better psychological strategies to engage the conversation. You was not only an inspiration but the basicly fact that you EXIST (a woman, LA based, pretty blond californian feminist who DOES think that men are good in general) is really a ok-let's-push-the-suicide-idea-to-a-side-for-a-while in all honesty. I speak from knowledge of the south hemisphere so unfortunately not all the numbers and statistics is useful to me in particular but I just want to thank you for simply be. Just that.

I;m a liberal. It used to be all politics is local but somehow it morphed into all politics is identity. The democratic party has completely forsaken the working class for identity politics. This is not an accident, it is all they have since they take money from corporations and you can't represent the working class and corporations at the same time. Due to clanism humans have a natural
reaction to identity as us or them. So identity politics naturally divides not unites. I'm also a Bernie supporter, what I liked about Bernie was he wanted to unite people under universal policies that benefited all Americans. I didn't not agree with half his policies but I did agree with the other half. But what struck me was the universal nature of his policies. He was a uniter not a divider.
You can disagree with his policies but cannot disagree with his fundamental principle of wanting to help everyone regardless of identity.
Since the democrats are fully entrenched with every possible fringe identity they have forsaken the "privileged" white working class males. So what have the white males done? They naturally went republican and the democrats can't seem to figure out what went wrong. Must be sexism! It can't be self sex interest nor could it be they don't represent them. So what does the republicans have to offer white males? Not much but more than the democrats. All republicans do is lower taxes for corporations and in turn there is a trickle down of jobs to a degree. Not enough but something is better than nothing.
A word on Jordan Peterson. The Right seem to have adopted Jordan Peterson. As a liberal I find Jordan to be a rational smart person who isn't particularly Right at all. He only looks Right from the perspective of the college regressive left.

Most women don't care. Most men are white knights who think the purpose of their existence is to fall on their swords for m'lady. MRA's are severely outnumbered. You show your faces and you'll be crushed. And that's it.
