This is completely wrong. I was there . The drones that dropped out of the sky did not hit anyone as they fell. One drone clipped another in the air and flew straight away from the show into the crowd 10 feet from where I was with my family. It is that one drone that hit the kids on the chest . The drone show WAS NOT over people and was over the lake . Where you see them dropping to the ground is the launch site and no spectators where in that area .
Exactly right! There is more to this footage where you can clearly see rogue drones flying parallel to the ground, towards people, at very high rates of speed. I'd guess 50+ MPH. I'm a drone operator in Orlando and pilot them for real estate every day. Even the drones that were going straight down to the ground seemed to be doing so at a speed faster than free fall. I have a feeling the drone show company got ahead of this reporting and offered up that diagram to mislead the news.
When a drone crashes or fails, the ability to maneuver the drone is gone and aerodynamics takes over. It would easily travel at a higher rate of speed outside of the designated fly area.
Sky Elements has done many drone shows. I wonder if someone was deliberately intefering with their signal. Things can happen no what kind of show. I hope the little boy is ok soon.
There was also a drone swarm accident similar to this in Folly Beach, SC. Sounds like a ripe condition for regulatory to jump in. Public safety and aerospace rarely drift very far apart.
Fireworks shows cost 1000 dollars a minute or more and total cost can easily be in the tens of thousands for big shows. It's really not much of an increase considering how much more involved a coordinated drone show is.
Who cares if they were over the water or not. You yourselves have post footage of those drones crashing at speed at like a 45° angle from the ground. They'd be a danger any way
FAA rules say no hovering over people but commercial companies and government agencies like NYPD are allowed to break them. FAA why do you let them do it ?? It's sad the kid got hit by one.😢😢
Computers using sophisticated algorithms fly them. You think there are 5000 people standing there at night controlling each individual drone? It's nearly impossible to fly quadcopters at night at that distance with that type of coordination without the help of computers and high technology.
Drone company not at fault.. news implies wasn't over water negligent.. and they WEREN'T.. DRONES DON'T COLLIDE WHEN CONTROLLED.. so unknown mistake caused it.. new rules set for wind gusts over such an such, farther distance from shore or cancel show.. gusts too high caused collisions and blew them to shore being unexpected high speed.. owe significant settlement to family, but no penalties, but establish for similar possibilities from nationwide drone usage in large numbers..
@guineapigzed only if intent was to do that, and obviously wasn't, and take away the money to easily make it safer that it still won't be that way.. and you obviously are the problem wanting free wealth without working for it ... ALL win is they ONLY CORRECT ANSWER..
@@KevinDShortBoBe wind gusts are not what caused them to fall, they would of never performed if the wind gusts were too strong. They are still “investigating” why they fell. Also news said shot boy in stomach is false. It shot down into his chest & he needed emergency open heart surgery.
This is so hard to believe from Sky Elements. They had just made the Guinness Book of World Records again just the day before. They are the gold standard in drone shows and companies. Something terrible must have gone wrong or it was sabotaged.
So my question is...y'all trusting this drone company still?? Cause I'm still questioning from a computer engineer and nerd what exactly went wrong if the programming was correct?

The problem is people needing to go out and watch drone shows LOL if people didn't need so much to go out and watch things maybe accidents like that wouldn't have happened but people have a need to go out and watch and the cities have a need to make money from it so there you have accidents

I love how the contract that city of Orlando reps signed states the contractor is "supposed" to have liability insurance. Yeap, this is first world amerrrrica. Meantime school teachers pay more taxes than cooporation CEOs.

Wow while China is using 10x more and actually putting on a show with multiple drones displaying Chinese culture 😂 and we can cant even do a simple show wow China 🇨🇳 is actually ahead drone wise 😂

The city is paying 75 THOUSAND for only 2 shows? A show is what??? 20 minutes, or so?

Why companies are allowed to fly those things over crowded public areas and Rc hobby lovers can’t-even fly a fomie park flyer on a field ?
You have to be certified to meet all FAA standards, the tests are difficult for many and it's expensive.
Because companies have more rights and less responsibilities than citizens, in waiting for them to make it an amendment.
That's part of the 107 pilots training for UAV. The people flying them are in some trouble with the FAA now.
