- In order to celebrate hitting 2 million views on my video about toilet paper getting crushed by a hydraulic press, I do it again! Only this time I do the fan suggestions. So, after I crush the toilet paper in a hydraulic press, then I drill it, nail it, and soak it in water to see if it gets soft again. Then I crush the wet toilet paper in a hydraulic press and see if I can get all the water out of it. Then I concentrate the power of the hydraulic press again to make the toilet paper hard as stone! Then I nail that hard toilet paper rock and drill it after I crush it in the hydraulic press.

The toilet paper inside the nut actually isn't any harder. It just seems that way because it's still under compression from the sides of the nut itself. If you want to make the paper harder, you need to use two solid anvils to increase the pressure instead of a hollow one, but to prevent it from blowing out you'd need to confine it temporarily to maintain that pressure.

The hydraulic pump mechanism is reciprocated by air pressure. Very common.
If it's liquid pushing the piston down, then it's hydraulic. A pneumatic one would certainly be much noisier, why do you claim it's not hydraulic?
Pneumatics are limited by the compressibility of air. That limits the maximum pressure.

That is far from being solid wood, you really should clarify because that is much more like fiberboard. You prove this when you get it wet, wood holds up in water.

Last test was a complete failure. the material BELOW the nut (Ring-shaped area) would have been the most concentrated force. The only reason you had resistance with the nail was because the nut wrapped around it to where there was no place for the toilet paper to expand. If you want to see just how tough of a material you can make, use a SOLID point of concentration.
His method would be right (to some extent only though), if toilet paper was a liquid. In fact, I recon he did work under the assumption that it is, given the fact that he was surprised that, when pressed, it "got" solid.
Don't you just hate these days you mix up your solids and your liquids?
I think you misunderstood, my point was that his method created a weak point for his Nail Test in the center of his crushed toilet paper.

The paper in the nut would not be able to be penetrated because of the paper not been able to displace due to the inner walls of the nut not moving.If you had pushed the wad of paper out of the nut you would have been able to hammer the nail through it as it would allow displacement and there for would be able to be penetrated.

Even if it stayed hard/dry when submerged in water, it would still be more accurate to call it a block of wood or something- but even that wouldn’t be accurate since a solid piece of wood wouldn’t turn swishy upon being submerged in water for a minute or two.
