He doesn't. He just messed his vocals up from years of improper screaming and has been afraid to ruin his voice. He recently said in an interview that he's been taking vocal lessons to learn how to scream properly just within the past year.
Here's the proof that Danny is pretty much the most complete vocalist in the metal scene and he can even perform Breathless live without ruining his voice, he had help from Paul but it was just to emulate the voice overlaps from the studio version. He even ahs his breath control on key for the final verses with crazy change of pace and tone.
His wife is going blind again and can't drive. So he's being an amazing husband and father. Good dude. good man. He will always be a part of aa if it's just writing or music videos it doesn't really matter
