Dude, I spent an hour watching videos and trying to make paper clip jigs. Found your video and was done in 15 minutes . Appreciate this, it was a much easier way to get it done without destroying your pins.
I just lost my jig, and I was installing some mods which made my Switch crash and reboot into sysnand. I just went to the kitchen and made this, and it worked! Thank you so much.
I stupidly did my nails yesterday so they were long, but this worked like a charm! I'm stationed overseas and my RCM jig wont be here for a bit so I wanted to try this- easy! Good explanation also!
I tried a lot with the paper clip method, but it didn´t worked, so I looked for an alternative and your video popped out. It worked 1st try, thank you very much :D
wanted to hack my switch but couldnt be bothered to wait like a day for an rcm jig to ship lol so i tried this and i somehow managed to get it to work and now my switch is hacked, btw, for anyone curious; you can get the width to 3mm (mine was like this) just fine; at the end of the day it worked!
I tried your way and paperclip and from what i learnt is that the paper clip is way more reliable the paper clip can be used many times but the foil can only be used once or twice and i havent got it to work once with the foil and you have to be very precise in conclusion use paperclip method guys😊
Thanks, worked first time once I'd actually read the payload instructions. I'm a little concerned I've flattened the 9 and 10 pins on the joycon but will know for sure once I remove the foil
ok well i wrote this comment too fast. After i sent a first payload, the switch screen is black and cant even be booted normally. Maybe this version was patched.
Worked like a CHARM! I was trying every different method, until I considered that the problem might be my JIG. And it was! Never have been happier that something I bought was faulty! Also, I managed to get it to work on first try, so its not difficult at all.
Lost my jig.. and was looking for free work around was gonna tried the paper clip mode until I saw your tutorial... Thanks for the video.. it's a very simple solution and I did it in first try!! thanks again!!
I had some struggle, didnt have any tape, i was eventually able to get it to work by placing the foil on the pins of the switch itself and then carefully sliding the joycon into place
One thing not mentioned is how the tin foil CAN touch more than the last 2 pins. I think you should make the foil less than 1/2 an inch wide also. I was having trouble with that. I probably just have some thick foil as is. When I folded the long skinny strip in half, it was too thick to slide into the joycon rail. Found another video where the guy said to keep the foil to the one side as much as possible. I tried it, worked. So no, you don't need to worry about it touching more than the furthest 2 pins. The tin foil on my controller had 3 obvious pin indents meaning it was touching 3 pins. Then DON'T shut down unless you plan on shorting the pins again. You can reboot and inject payloads but if you shut down, might as well buy a jig for a few bucks or 3d print one with a paperclip.
Cannot get it to work at all, it won't turn on for certain atm, but I get the sense it's not necessarily from recovery mode because nothing is working and I've had it do that today without the foil. I feel it's more likely to be something I'm doing than that. There needs to be some kind of close up (and uninterrupted) footage of the placement process, rather than a before and after with some close up shots between that. I understand that may be impossible, but I'm just putting it out there in case it's something feasible to attempt. I might just buy a jigrig at this point :/ Nice video though! Got the gist, just didn't work for me this time... Edit: Oh and it's not broken, it's new (as in out of box, not the most recent models) and it turns on sometimes with a press of POWER after I connect different cords as well - like it resets it's position on what it thinks it could be doing??? And now I'm crosseyed... I'm thinking it's something to do with the controller not registering because I believe I'm unfortunately unable to avoid hitting the wrong pins Edit II: Figured out the problem, I think. It's been working, but my firmware is in the "maybe patched" list so I was trying to verify with TegraRcmGUI. That was the problem, I believe - oh and *PSA* by the way: *TegraRcmGUI doesn't properly work with Windows 11.* I have no way of verifying whether my Switch is JB-able or not without massive hassle that may ultimately end up in a bunch of undesirable programs downloaded in a vain attempt to achieve a simple check that in truth, could very well end in negative results after all that effort, unfortunately :( Any fixes are immensely appreciated that don't involve changing OS or running VMs, as I know how to use them, but live in a place that incurs the 'oh so special' irritation of alot of data restriction and dropped speeds with an ISP in the year 2022.
@@rr2308 use this custom rig and the downloads are free, just time to be wasted bro. Rather waste an hour and play any switch game than pay 100s for games
I bought a jig for few bucks just few days ago and this wasn't working. I panicked until i found ur video, and within 15 minutes or so i was able to enter in Hekate. Thank you very very much dude!
OH MY GOD. I WAS TRYING THE PAPERCLIP THING FOR SO LONG AND APPARENTLY GOT IT A FEW TIMES??? I DIDNT KNOW THAT THE SWITCH DOESNT BOOT WHEN YOU GET IT (CRYING). THANKS FOR SAVING ME HOURS LMAO
I don't think you're supposed to Short 10 and 9, it's just 10 and then any ground pin (1, 2, or 7). Doing 9 and 10 may work but is more dangerous to the switch than it needs to be
i did this and it doesn't turn on, like it's in rcm mode. But when I try to connect it to the pc to inject the payload it does and it boots to the default switch menu. What am i doing wrong?

Was wary while doing it but worked perfectly! Got the success screen from rekado so now I'm moving forward. Thanks for the tutorial!
Rekado + AutoRCM!
Worked like a charm! Thank you! I didn't have a ruler so I didn't measure but it worked from the first try!
I bought 3 RCM jigs and they did not work, then I tried this method and works on first try. Thanks alot.
This worked like a charm on the first try and only took about 30 minutes to get going! Thanks!
Incredible, got this to work in just 2 tries. Thanks for the step by step and being thorough!
I was a bit risky and just did it without tape but it worked first try after trying the paper clip for an hour ty !
yeah same
Thank you so much, no other methods were working, and here I am at 2:18 AM, with the perfect tutorial!

Worked first try😅, had no ruler for measurements so I went off of instinct
Same
So do you need to put the mod on there beforehand? Seems this video just goes in media res.
Saved me 8 bucks! Thanks a million man!
props dude.
i eyeballed everything and jammed it in. got it first try
thank you for making this amazing guide. I was able to get it into rcm mode within 30 minutes. worked first try
Thanks for your tutorial. It worked for me. Unfortunately I got to the point to where i found out my switch was patched and couldn't go any further 😞

How did you find out

This Method Totally Worked. Thanks Buds!
First try did this didn’t think this would work but yup it worked was finally able to activate autorcm! Thank you!
AutoRCM!
I spent soooo long trying the paperclip method but this one worked first try! 👍👍👍👍
Thank you man! I tried with paperclip method and it didn't work. This one is simpler and easier to do! Thank you!

THANK YOU SMM 😭😭 u don’t know how many different tutorials I’ve watched!
worked perfectly. I just eyeballed it and used the flat end of a spare hard drive as a straight edge.
Thanks, saved me a ton of messing around with paperclips, this went as smooth as butter
worked perfectly thanks :)
Great Video, it worked first try for me. I absolutely suck at folding and desipte that i managed to do it!
still works was so easy to boot using this methoded thank you so much

So it can touch 2-3 pins and still work right?
thanks brother, that part stressed me out a bit
@@matthewlopez00 You're welcome. Glad it helped someone.
Been tryna get my hands on a jig for like a week, thank you so much holy shit

Thanks, I tried twice with a paperclip and following another tinfoil video to no avail but this one worked first try :)
of course I see this after I bought a jig
Instructions clear, it worked 🎉
oh my god, thank you so much. for me worked only with your method, no paperclip, no jig, only tinfoil!
Just did it twice. Cheers from Down Under mate.
I've heard the foil does longterm damage to the switch...

Thanks man really helped!
Appreciate the feedback Xft! Subscribe of you want more helpful videos out! I post new videos every week 😁
Why with paper clip it's fist and last pin but with foil its 9 and 10?
This is amazing! Thanks!
thanks! It worked first try
this gets in my recomended just as i ordered an rcm jig 💀
Saved me so much time from the paper clip method
omg, you are the man, thank you so much, thats a sub :)
how do you turn on nintendo to acses rcm mode cause my nintendo aint turnin on...
you need to plug your switch into a pc or laptop
It really worked second try 🎉🎉

Thank you my brother much more efficient than the paper clip method at least for me lolz
Been trying for hours, I don't think I can get this to work
Thank you bro its work
I love you bro 🥳❤❤
You didn't say what side of the tin foil to use and now my Switch has fried and won't turn on!
Is this not dangerous while you can burn out stuff on the circuit board and destroy your console
Just never touch Pin 4 or you will fuck your switch. Usable pins for RCM are: 1,2 and 9.
1:01 How do you enter that screen??

is it fine if the foil is touching the 8th pin as well?
nope. i know from experience
i did it for the second try tnx
it worked on my first try, without tape
Would this work with EXTRA's gum wrapper?
Is there a way that I don’t have to inject the payload every time?
@@procalc5 You still need a payload with auto rcm
Yes
But why on pin 9 and 10? If I use a RCM JIG it is on pin 1 an 10.
1 and 10 arent the only ones that work
FIRST TRY thank you very much
I installed Hekate onto the sd card. How do I run it now?
Nintendo wants to find your location sir
I use pins 1 and 10 or 1 and 9 but 9 and 10 is an easier jump.
what happeens if the foil touches pin 8 a bit?
Thankyou you are a god!!!
does this work in 2024 or do I need to do pin 1 and 10
Can I mod my switch with this ?
