Great tier list, i honestly agree on everyone of them picks so your spot on there mate.
Ret is required for any good 3x DPS comp. It’s the only burst heal on someone below 25%. Offers more utility than any other class. Has amazing survival every 45s with sacred shield. … yeah, it’s F Tier. What was this streamer thinking?
Now individually 1v1 this doesn’t really apply. Any good mage with kite you till you die. Hunter keeps his pet off you and kite, you die… its also pretty hard to solo a healer
@@Jimmy-oo5yl I think you we will be seing a few different comps, i have heard that Ret Ele sham and restro sham/holy pala is going to be very viable and seen it played myself on the cata private servers. Its lowkey o.p

Good job on a tier list. Its a hard job to predict fully cause people remember end of cata comps or s9 comps with s9 talents.
Here are my thoughts, as both s9 and S10 ret gladiator as ret-dk-rdruid at glad range (2600-3000 enemies):
*Frost mage was very dominant spec, mainly in RMP, fire whas nowhere to be seen
*feral-hunter-rshammy were very popular and good
*some RLS, rest melee cleaves
For me Ret had best synergy with DK, with strategy 80% time training healer. Ret counter Dk weak spots, mainly survival. With BOP, SaC and word of glory pala will keep his Unholy DK safe.
I also find Druid as best healer for this comp cause is not about healing. Healer focuses mainly on CCing more distruptive DPS, like lock or rogue (distruptive in a sense that can peel dpsers from his healer easier).
Played a bit with ARMS and he needed all my freedoms, DK does not care. He puts dots and double pet on enemy and deathcoil from range, big chunk od dmg stays on healer if DK is stunned or slowed. If enemy focus ret, DK left alone can train healer with all interrupts and necrotic that ret need to connect later for 3secs to finish him.
Comp is an absolute Hammer for Rshammies - they are trained hard and easy, with priest being most durable healer as enemy for this comp.

I played holy priest during original cata and the main issue I remember facing was that it was out of mana way faster than disc.
It has been a really long time, but I think there is a trinket on dragon soul that solves this issue.
Forgot one thing about Ret. The rework of sacred shield. Sacred proc + WOG for a self heal is crazy. Ret doesn’t have to hide when bubble is on CD anymore. Now you just monitor your sacred shield CD.

I think that blizzard releasing cata on a later patch will make a difference for some classes a bit more than we may think.
Yep, for example 60% crit chance on hammer of wrath for ret pala in talents got changed to 6% or so.
Arcane is actually great. Polymorph stun into imp cs any healer is dead without bubble. Rogue arcane, which a bunch got glad with in wotlk, is even stronger in cata with their new tools. Its super slept on cause the other 2 specs are so obviously good.
I remember playing disc boomy arcane and it went crazy. Especially when the priest gave the arcane PI. I do think arcanes burst is slept on the problem is you don’t get cold snap or deep freeze which are game changers too
the problem is you surviving as arcane lol and you got more CC, dmg, survability and mobility as fire. Why would you even go arcane?
@@aic20 that's not even the issue. Fire doesn't get Cold Snap or DF either but they got other tools. They get dragon's breath on a 20 seconds cooldown, they got a shitton of mobility, slows and more survability and burst than arcane.
@andrecardoso6941 arcane has a stronger spammable slow, more single target damage, and a knock back on a 12sec cd along with poly stun and instant invisible to batch incoming spell, sprint with blink, impact, blazing speed, and 2min evo. There's more defensive than you think. 2600xp

I might just play Feral in PVP instead of Enhance. I have an 80 Sham and Druid. I was gonna do Arms, but eh maybe not.
Holy priest does not have the convenient tools disc has which makes holy to be outclassed. Boomkins don't need to cast almost nothing other than cyclone as you get enhaced stacking initial dmg of moonfire, instant star surges prof + star fire procs. In regards to DK do not forget the 30% cast time debuff on necrotic strike which makes you take less dmg from focused caster (defensive) and easier kill time of a focused healer (offensive).

feral/disc, hunter/rogue, hunter/ret are S tier to me. Then warr/hpal, fmage/disc, rogue/disc, affli/rshaman, feral/rshaman come close.
32:02 wrong - this doesn’t work in Cata Classic.
The MS nerf + Unrelenting Assault removal from Arms is pretty fair tbh because they obviously anticipated that people would just run TSG (Unh/awar/healer) and with the beautiful Necrotic Strike ability being introduced to DKs in this xpac, that would've just been op if they could have 75% reduced healing TAKEN on TOP OF just having all the healing in the world just succ'd dry and absorbed.
Healers would be useless in arena lol. I say this as an Unholy main too who has a best friend that mains warrior, as lovely as that sight could be with me and him, that would just be too broken and basically an unrewarded feeling of free glad more so than MLS.

So, the take home message is, run a comp with 2-3 kicks that are 10s cd each and just bully the healer to gladiator.

I can see Holy Priest being a good partner to classes who really need to stick to their target and might otherwise be kite-able. Ret maybe? Enhance? Both of those can make up for the lack of healing/defensive CDs with their own kits. Seems like a good add to all-in melee comps, given their dispels and respectable damage for a healer. Chastise is a real nice boon for melee comps. Spirit of Redemption is a nice disincentive against getting tunneled.
One of Holy Priests biggest drawbacks was that it had no real counterplay against strong burst, but that's much less common in Cata. Certainly an off-meta choice, and maybe even more aggressive than Disc, but I think it could work quite well in the right hands ;)

Kinda a loaded question, arena is so in depth and there are so many layers that it's hard to say that. At a low level melees are way easier than casters because you don't need to fake etc.

Anyone know if servers matter in Cata PvP, do I need to boost someone on a specific server for BGs and Arenas? Ty!
If you are trying to PvP like arena then you should be alliance because the arena ladder is 90% alliance. Benediction for alliance and faerlina for horde
While disc is definetely the better off the two specs compared to Holy, Holy has a much easier time CC'ing opponents with the 60% movement speed buff into fear or Chastice (3 second incap) into fear into mind control.
How viable do you think ferals and mm hunters are past season 9?
R1 viable every season easily, super strong
Which 2s comp do you think will be stronger for S9, Disc/Feral or Disc/Sub? I'm assuminng sub pulls ahead regardless after S9, just curious about that first season of 2s

I dont remember if it was season 9 or 10 but i got 1850 in og cata as a fury warrior and i want to see if i can do it again because i love the fantasy of a warrior running two handed dualwield weapons

Unholy DK / Feral Druid is too broken in Cata. Necrotic strike was probably one of the most broken abilities ever in the game.
im surprised to see resto druid so low. I remember it being OP back in 2011, i was unkillable in battlegrounds and made it to top rankings in arena. What gives? when did they nerf druids so we couldnt shift outof roots?

In S9 you are using PvP gear for just about every slot on every class to my knowledge, later in the expansion PvE gear becomes more relevant

I'll tell you a fun Tripple Dps cheese comp I used to run was...
Frost Mage/ Ret Pally/ Arms Warrior
The Mage just has to prioritize CC on as many targets as they can (Polly, Ring of Frost, Deep Freeze, CS) and the Warrior & Ret just blows someone up lol the Ret Pally off healing is no joke plus no one is taking that much damage because they're CC'd.
The Mage can Cold Snap to Double Ring of Frost + Double Deep Freeze.
+ you have the Pally stun and Warrior Fear.
Plus all the Damage can catch people off guard.
Is more good Ret/Frost/Rogue or hunt. Because he can start invi and have alto CC. Warrior un cata is so trash
With a Rogue in stealth the enemy team might open on your Mage making it not a guarantee that the Mage will be able to get their cc off clean.
Idk a Warrior being fed Freedoms by a Pally is pretty strong.
I think a lot of people will be surprised by Warriors in Cata.
I know Fury is kind of a meme in pvp but Cata was the only expansion I can remember where some Warriors actually played it in pvp.
I think Fury Warriors might have the highest burst potential in Cata. Idk about season 9 though. I don't know what season my memory is pulling from...
But I remember I went SM Fury with Fist Weapons as a meme after I got my other gear and was beating Titans Grip Warriors lol.
They just need to build up their Rage bar then release it and someone dies.
But Arms for serious play.

Ret/Frost/Rogue BEST comp they start invi and made a lot damage and CC. Rogue, Frost and hunt have a spell can reset his offensive CDs. Is like 2 burst in 1 min.
Ret/Rogue/hunt is almost same. This comp is more good for CC single target. Mage is multi targets like dks, warlocls pets etc
Ret/Rogue/Dk is the more hard comp to play. Dk eat healers but his movility is trash. If the other healers run and escape you have 80% of lose.

Many people forget that Ret was horribly dogshit before the rework around the mid point of Cata. Then they became God lvl. And would be even more busted today had Blizzard not nerfed HoW crit from... like 60% to 6% in the talents.
Still, all Ret really needed in the end was a healing nerf, and by that I mean healing on others due to SH talent which made it op.

@@jdstko1 oh dude I’m not a good player by any means. It revolves around landing a polymorph onto a pally stun on heal or dps whoever u decide. And your combustion burst. And if u fail the first time it’s okay cuz fire mage has insane sustain dps and hpal having seemingly infinite mana and op healing. It’s just a really fun comp for sure

Ferals are S tier in season 9 then they fall down a bit. Resto shamans are the best healers in cata throughout the whole expansion.

@@BamsenSlagbjornsince powershifting doesnt break roots in cata, wizard cleaves just focus them and force them to fall behind in bear. Its really hard to push higher rating with them once casters get haste. Theyll do great at lower ratings though

Warrior with a pocket heal IS the most dangerous melee and Will always be.

Frost is better, Fire is easier, which will make people go for Fire more often. But they are insanely close in strength.
warlocks can fel dom double CS currently on pre patch? Because currently mages cannot "Fel dom" their frost ele for a double freeze and im wondering if thats a bug or what.
it gives you a new pet so yes, it works the same as wrath in that regard.

Fake news, I hit 2300 in 3s at age 12 in cata season 9 running shadow priest enhance resto Druid , we never played a single mirror match, it was great
Ya rdruid got giga nerfed by the time the last patch hits, rejuvs healing got cut in half. Went from ticking for like 6k+ to 2.3 sadge

It’s a slow decline but they always stay stier or top of a tier because of just how viable they are for support reasons. Word of glory and party cds are so good

Blood DK not viable? lol 😜, ok the damage is lower than Unholy and Frost but still higher than other tank specs and they are pretty much unkillable! If played correctly they can neutralize almost 90% of all damage received for quite a while! And the selfhealing and healthpool are really high!
