Saved by the Résistance - [Roleplay] [French Accent] [WWII] [F4M]

Your plane was shot and crashed in occupied France, not far from a combat zone. A group of Resistance fighters saves you and takes you to their head quarters. You're here for a while.
Back to some historical roleplay! I didn't think I would miss it that much and as always I've had a lot of fun recording this one :)
So... after this I should definitely watch Masters of the Air, right? Oh and I'm saving you again here! Hope you're not too tired of these...

It was the battle of France in 1940 that got their cowardice reputation but the battle of bir harkim in 1942 rebuild their reputation as "the fighting french"

Well, actually, the coward reputation was pushed forward by the american pro-war faction during the early 2000s, following the refusal by then french president Chirac to involve the UN security concil in Irak and Afghanistan.
Another initiative to target France's reputation was to rename french fries to "liberty fries".

Outstanding job with this one. As the descendant of an American WWII Air force pilot this was an amazing listen. I can only image the stories that were passed down about the war.

So for the record, I am french but my Great Grandfather was British in the Royal Airforce, during one of his missions in a Mosquito over the south of France, his plane crashed, it took about 2 months to get back with the help of the French Resistance, at least it's what I was told, so I am paying great respect to both of these sides.

That was really sweet when she asked us to be her guide.
Reminded me of when I met a survivor years ago (I think she was from Poland), and she talked about how she met an American soldier and the two of them got married after the war.

C'est vrai, il n'y a qu'à voir le cas du juge-maire de Lyon, qui a été dans la résistance avec son fils dès 1940 dans deux réseaux séparés, il était dans le réseau du coq enchaîné, le juge-maire a même fini par être remplacé à la tête de la ville car les allemands et Pétain commençaient à avoir des doutes quant à sa loyauté, il y'a eu des tentatives d'assassinat planifiées à son encontre en 1944 par la milice pétainiste, bah malgré ces faisceaux de preuves que c'était pas un collabo, il a fallut qu'un unique communiste caractériel pleure en disant que c'était un collabo, pour qu'il passe le reste de sa vie avec une réputation de collabo. Même si ça sent aussi la tentative du parti communiste d'épurer la gauche à son profit, car il était de gauche dans le parti radical...
Le côté marrant, c'est qu'il a continué à être juge après guerre, et que les militants des deux spectres politiques extrémistes ont cherché à attenter à sa vie... Faudra m'expliquer aussi comment un "collabo" peut être ennemi à la fois de la "gauche" et des pétainistes...
Les deux seules choses qui témoignent de son combat, c'est une plaque qui prend la poussière au-dessus d'une porte dans un ancien tribunal fermé, et un chapitre sur lui dans un bouquin que seuls les fonctionnaires du ministère de la justice peuvent acheter.... Autant dire qu'à part moi et 3 gars qui ont lu le livre, personne ne se souviendra du maire résistant de la "ville de la résistance".

Merci pour ce cours d'histoire impromptu ! Je ne connaissais pas du tout ce personnage. Malheureusement, c'est dans des moments pareils que beaucoup utilisent les évènements à leur avantage. Certains étaient accusés d'être collabo juste pour qu'on se débarrasse d'eux après-guerre... On a vu ça aussi durant la Révolution. Des dénonciations pour gagner un pécule sur la vie d'autrui.
