Creating an "old school" version of League would be great. I don't see a problem with it. If you look at Jagex with "old school Runescape" they had massive success. Since League is 11 years old, they definitely have the option to go old school. I actually wanted a classic mode ever since they removed the old Twisted Treeline, but I guess the game at that time was still in a "new" state.
I played the heck out of old Karma, plus she was a darker pigment too. Her cone fan blade of Q Healing and damaging at the same time depending upon ally or enemy was great. Her w you could attach to an ally. Ms speed for allies, slows for enemies that pass through it. I honestly didn't care for her rework.

Indeed, I played WoW up to Cata. League of legends just fully released right before Cataclysm, after patch two released for Cataclysm. I strictly played league of legends consistently up to season five. League released at such a good time for those leaving WoW during Cataclysm. It's funny how Riot are incapable of producing it; yet small unknown developers have made private servers so good they received cease and desist and were demanded by riot to hand over the code they created to make it playable.
I honestly loved Wild Rift at the atart. Could have been a LoL Classic+ with updated graphs and sht, I managed to climb to D1 close to Master. But then they started releasing these nextgen worthless trash Champs and added the already reworked Champs. I quit when they added Akshan, now they release Samira I heard.

Actually the reason URF doesn't stay is because it causes a drop in user base. @@antwangr after the assassin reworks, all of them felt clunky and more like mages... i liked the speed and fluid mechanics of the old ones and that's literally why i stopped playing at this point. also i was hella annoyed by the amount of patches, without really "fixing" things, but causing new issues istead, which were way worse. katarina was never just about spamming all buttons at once. you had to react fast enough, when one player did a wrong step and also you had to see your options in exact this moment. people only talk about pentakills in 0,2 sec, but no one mentions how hard it was, to place wards for her jump outs, even before the towers were able to fire at her. no one mentions her harassing and hard working for her needed early lead, to kill things this fast. also no one speaks about her old sinister steel, which you had to space and time correctly, to make full use of the range and her speedbuff to dodge attacks. it kinda pisses me off. not to mention her total ap scaling without counting ult was something like 125%. it was hella fast, e+w nearly instant, but only 65% ap scaling. her ult was always interuptable and escapable... so when people just stayed in range for flash + shunpo with only 60% life or lower, while being squishy as fuck, THEY WERE KILLING THEIR OWN TEAM and not katarina. especially when people always went for the deadball formation with 5 playes on the exact same spot! in order to avoid this, you had to react to enemy positions and move before assassins can position themself to attack, when you can't react to their moves directly. but people just didn't get that.
unfortunately i dont think they would ever want to split their player base like that i was honestly hoping for them bring to do a throwback event though
I don’t know the player base is already pretty split with the casual and ranked players on one side you have ranked players saying the game is fine while casual players have been complaining for quite a while now and then there’s people who play aram, streamers and pro play with being totally different in low elo to high elo so yeah the game is already split
I feel like people would want it, but spend a few days playing it and realize how shit the game is relative now. People forgot all the QoL changes and certain champions/items being absolutely broken.

Started with season 3 (s3 in my heart...best season for me), loved it. I know it would be really hard to make, but I would surely buy a 40/60 dollars/euros version of League that lets me choose in which patch I would like to play. TFT previos sets, old mages, old items it would be a blast
modern league is bloated and overly complicated, there are too many champions and all the new ones/reworks have a small novel of text for each of their abilities. old league in season 0-4 an ability would be 2 sentences. on top of that gutting all the customization for fun builds outside of games like masteries and runes, dumbing down and streamlining item purchases and stats, they've made the game for the esports wannabes and nobody else. old league had a lot more wackyness to it and was a lot more fun for casual players.
They definitely do, they're certainly lying or phrasing it in a way to purposefully mislead people. They had versions back to the beta on their CDN, there was just no server support for them. It was recently taken down after Chronoshift was killed. So, TLDR; They certainly have game file backups, just probably not server support/client support backups.

AFAIK they archive game assets somewhere. You could get access to the old game data (like splash arts) through Internet browser. I did that back in 2016/17 Additionally, there's an open source custom patcher. You could download any patch you wanted, but Riot changed something and it doesn't work anymore
Its a rumor. Also it is illogical If something gets broken or so badly in some season due to an exploit or something, they must make sure of some backup of the old game data. A large company taking care of such big game would never go so illogical as you said. They don't make a LoL Classic (season 4 version) because they don't want to while a huge part of the gameplayer base want.

never rly got to expirience LoL back in 2012 becuz the client wouldn't work, so didnt touch it until 2015 which is fine but never got to play the old map but instead the new one.
I'd prefer season 5. The earlier seasons were no more balanced than the current game, just less flashy. Season 5 was when DFG and the silences on kass/lb/talon were removed, and was the most strategic point in league's history, where power was lowest.
We're not looking for balance, we're searching for classic. This is similar to World of Warcraft classic. Loads of imbalances, but "NO CHANGES" was the motto. It did extremely well.

I played from season 3 to season 6/start of 7, the main reason I stopped playing was because of how much the game had changed and in my opinion deteriorated from what it used to be, I hate the game now a days and haven't played in years and it's nothing like how it used to be and I would love to be able to go and play season 3 again, by far the best versions of the game

this game for me died, when they reworked all the assassins and it started with nidalee in season 3... i was never a fan of the game, but i really liked to play katarina, akali and a few others.

Season 3 would be best. I don't play league since 2018 cuz i don't like new game. If lol classic someday will arrive i will back to the game for sure.
I think it would set an unrealistic standard for current day League. Rather than only a handful of players being able to recall old League, we would instead have a 50-50 split on the playerbase.

Classic isnt complex
I guess we would love it first and then hate it. Also, not only the game has changed but also the community, the attitude and how people play this game. If we would get classic it won't mean that there is no meta. We pretty much would just have to figure it out again. Also, most champions of these days would not exist in classic.
this game for me died, when they reworked all the assassins and it started with nidalee in season 3... i was never a fan of the game, but i really liked to play katarina, akali and a few others.
