My experience is better with Uptown Cheapskate than Platos. They serve the college ages more than the high school. You are safe with most guy stuff, plus size stuff and almost every youth mall brand: Think Buckle, PacSun, Express, Hollister, H&M, Zara, Forever 21. They love handbags and sneakers. I’ve never had luck with vintage unless it’s outerwear. They definitely pay out better than Platos!!! Congrats 😊

I think you will really enjoy Uptown Cheapskate (both selling and sourcing from there). I’d say their target demographic is 20’s and 30’s (at least, I’m in my 30’s and have bought things there, lol). They generally take quite a bit as long as it’s cute and trendy!

Our local Uptown Cheapskate gives us 25% extra if you get store credit instead of cash. Can’t wait until you can shop there! Went to one in Arizona and they had so many good things! Can be pricey but if you trade in could be worth picking up higher ASP items. Congrats on the good payout!

I love selling to Uptown! I always do the store credit because they give me more money for that option. And then I turn around and use that to purchase better inventory that I want to sell myself. And we pay sales tax here in Texas so I get the new stuff tax free when I do that straight trade! So definitely start sourcing there when you can. I’d say they are a mix between Plato’s and Clothes Mentor as far as what they take. Also, try to rip out the year tag from pieces that have them. They look at those and don’t like to take things older than 2 years 😊

I love uptown , they love all the top brands , anthro , free people , Madewell , aerie …..and men’s especially. Great place to buy for yourself 😊Plato’s gives you less for payout . I go to two uptown’s near me every month . It’s fun to sell to them 🎉

I wish we had a UC or Platos. We have a Runway Fashion Exchange, and they are so picky.

We have had our uptown in Lexington Ky for 2 years now. They pay better and ours is a cross between Plato’s and clothes. Mentor. They don’t take the truly mature brands Like Chicos but they do take Ann Taylor, loft, j crew.

Your Plato’s sound like out Clothes Mentor and you have to make appointment ( two weeks ahead) after all that hustle they take one pair of shoes, not doing that anymore

I was wondering if you could talk about how you use the term "consign" because it sounds like you're just talking about flipping stuff to the stores, i.e. they just buy from you and then it's done when you get paid a small percentage of their expected sale price up front. Typically consigning means you retain ownership of the item until it sells, and then you split the proceeds with the selling entity (i.e. they take a commission). Usually only done with high-end fashion, as far as I know, but my main experience as a consignor is with midcentury furniture that I would consign to high end dealers with and without showrooms. I just was wondering if you could clarify why you use that word in this circumstance, because I too flip clothes to stores like UC or Buffalo Exchange, but there's no consignment agreement - they just give me cash on the spot and the transaction is concluded - and I don't refer to it as consignment, because it's just straightforward selling.

Yes I understand the difference and have explained this a few times in past BST/consign videos but I just sometimes use the term consigning sometimes. It is not traditional consigning, just selling. Usually people understand what I’m doing based on where I’m going

@@JackValentine Oh I gotcha. I can almost see you rolling your eyes while reading my comment lol. Do you ever do traditional consigning with higher end stuff in any special boutiques or dealers? Just curious
