That's good for the pinch and the grip, but you also want the weight loading of a shot bag so that you develop the strength all the way past your shoulder. Grippers, balls and pretty much all that sort of light stuff that's used without dynamic load forces, tends to isolate the strength gains to just the hand and a few muscles in the forearm... but if that's all you have, then it's certainly better than nothing!

The easiest thing you can do is buy latex tourniquets and use them as your band material... barring that, you can use a guillotine type paper cutter or as was mentioned, use cellophane tape (scotch tape), tape the material where you want to cut and use scissors.

Great post. If you don't use it, you lose it. Pinching a small squeesable ball works well also.

It would have been interesting to see what Bruce Lee's grip strength was... I know he worked it a lot and I even made a couple of machines that work on the same concept that he wrote about in The Tao of Jeet Kune Do.
I myself wanted to increase my grip when I started getting heavier into grappling style Martial Arts... and let me tell you, it makes a HUGE difference.

I tried your pull method, I probably need to practice more but my accuracy went from good to wild shots.

There are many situations where it's not easy to practice with the actual weapon you'll be using... in an office environment, living in town can be a hindrance... and now that winter's coming up, the cold affects not only band strength and speed but also many people's desire to be out in the cold.
This is simply one method (one of the best) that can help you develop useful strength for not only the slingshot but other things as well.

Thanks for the interesting video. Why not just practice shooting with your slingshot with increasingly stronger band sets? You would get several benefits for the invested time - increased familiarity with your weapon, improved accuracy and increased hand / pinch strength. You know the old saying - practice until you NEVER get it wrong. Thank's again for your video's. Any developments on the SERE model?

is there any other way to cut flat bands than a rotatory cutting tool?

Daninja42 The cheap hand grips are only 40lbs sometimes less... If you really want to improve grip strength get a starter set of 100lbs, 150lbs, 200lbs from amazon.. Its around $30-... I started at 100lbs and I am up to 350lb grip trainers..

    Thanks Tobias.
I've done quite a bit of farm work in my life as well... lots of chopping with axes and stuff like that can increase your strength substantially as well... but when I started getting interested in increasing my grip strength even more, I found out there's some pretty strong guys out there, with REAL and useful type strength... anybody interesed in this subject should google David Horne and check out his website... good stuff and good advice.
