there’s also a bunch of all-girl spirit groups at UT Austin like Texas Spirits, Texas Sweethearts, and Bluebonnets. they’re so much cheaper than sororities, but the family and structure is still very there and they’re usually more diverse and welcoming than the greek life here. i highlyyyy recommend Texas Spirits!!

And I suggest If you are starting, focus on lighting and quality, make nice thumbnails that's what gets people to look at the video, make sure your video is in the trends, basically most searched, editing takes a lot time so stick to a post a week so it doesnt get stressful, don't worry about people at school seeing it, they won't be laughing when you get big, and if and once you start let me know and I'll add you to my group chat of small UA-camrs! We all subscribe to each other, and support each other and just don't give up, getting subscribers isn't easy and it takes time x

You are not being overdramatic! Starting university is hard enough without a pandemic and terrible political climate! When I went to college (in 2015) I could have better prepared myself and thought about what it was going to be like, and I really admire that that's what you're doing! It's good to think about these things and I wish you the best of luck with your studies and life

the thing about sororities is it being predominantly white upper-class girls. Many girls of color have either been tokenized for branding purposes or seen as not what they're looking for. it isn't just because its a group of girls together

Not everything’s about race in my opinion. A group of girls living together and spending a lot of time together equals disaster, regardless of race.

Unless you are a POC you don’t get to say it isn’t all about race because you aren’t negatively affected by racism and you quite literally can’t experience it for yourself because you can’t change your race.
@@vnssz refusing to see that it's about race does not mean it's not about race. It very much is. The question you should be asking is...why aren't a lot of black girls part of sororities? Is it because we just don't like greek lifestyles or we can't afford it? Now ask why you can't afford it. Is it because you're already on scholarship and student loans that you don't have money for sororities? Wow okay, so why do we have more black people who are on scholarship and student loans such that you can't be wasting money on sororities because you need to repay your student debt? In this case, the sorority groups aren't being racist but if we search deep down as to why a lot of black people aren't part of sororities, it all boils down to racism. In conclusion, it really is always about race but the sororities did nothing wrong here it's just plain old Nixon's institutionalized racism.
Anecia Akeen It’s funny how you’re just assuming I’m white but in reality you have no idea. I don’t get a say in it because I’m not a POC? Isn’t that discrimination and racism too, since it’s only because of my skin color? I think I have freedom of speech and the right to have my own opinion. I know POC face a lot of racism which is very unfortunate and I really hope it’ll change for the better, BUT I still believe that not everything in this world revolves around race, and not everything is because of racism. I’ll definitely read the stories you mentioned because I haven’t heard about it before, but please let me still have my own opinion, which is that the reason why there aren’t that many POC in sororities is much more complex and has more to it than just their race itself.
