In the midst of COVID-19, I just had to return to this happy moment when our Edwin had that great 3-homer hat trick! No matter what uniform he wears, he'll always be a Blue Jay! Loved seeing the hats flying onto the field and Edwin not quite sure why! The hat trick has an interesting tradition and although normally attributed to hockey, it was a lovely sight when it was recognized by the Jays fans! We miss you Edwin and that amazing 2015 team!
I was at my Grandma's house when this happened. She loved the Jays so much. She was absolutely stunned when this happened. But afterwards, we celebrated! One of my happiest memories of her. RIP, Grandma. I miss you every day.
Man that 2015 team was so good offensively and we had a very good shot at going to the World Series 😩 I don't know when is the next time we'll see a Blue Jays team this good again 😟
Was visiting Canada for my first time with my dad after taking the train from NYC. Decided to go see a game at the last minute and ended up witnessing this awesome event!
Ahhh man. Just made me tear up a little bit. One of my favourite moments in baseball history. So Canadian. Miss EE every season. Still my favourite Jay.
+David Lemieux I was also bud!!! made 20 last season, initially the loudest one for me was the KC-Jays brawl..THEN this one took the cake, THEN the loudest for me was the last regular season home game when Donaldson hit the walk off but nothing and I mean nothing was louder than the game 5 ALDS when Bats hit that bomb. My ears were ringing for 3 days LOL
That team was special. Such a stacked lineup. Too bad we couldn't finish it off with a World Series, but that August run was something else. Ben Revere in the leadoff spot was a key addition. Never got why we traded him away for nothing
Came here to see how the "three homers = hat trick" tradition started after the Donaldson 3 homer night yesterday. Was not disappointed, what an amazing moment.
Edwin... So about the team, so classy... He didn’t go out for a curtain call in a 13-1 game when the fans were DYING for it and his teammates were encouraging him. Seriously underrated class act man.
I am so jealous of Toronto fan as I was one of the very few huge Edwin backers while with my Cincinnati Reds. His adventures at third base were full of throwing into the 9th row first bases seats but his bat was suited as a DH. Saw his last Reds HR and it still hasn't landed in those upper deck seats in left. And as a hockey fan, this is one baseball game I wished I had attended. Go cyclones!!!
That was an amazing moment. Edwin was completely caught off guard by the passionate reaction from the fans, and then completely overwhelmed by the pause in play, almost expecting him to walk off the dugout to tip his cap to them. A great moment for sure.
Great to see the Edwin love. Was blessed to have him an Indian. The man just produces. Hate seeing him bouncing around from team to team though, would have been rather special to have kept him in Toronto for good...but that's sports these days. It's a business more than it is a sport anymore. Sad. And we're about to be losing Lindor too. Smh, wish there were a fix for these things. Generations of fans need these icons to stay put where they should be. Cal Ripkin an Oriole, Johnny Bench a Red, Ozzie Smith a Cardinal, and Mike Schmidt a Phillie. That's how it should be. All time greats sticking with their teams.
Love this tradition. I know it's done at all hockey games when a guy scores 3 goals, but I'd love to see this done at every baseball game when a guy hits 3 home runs or at a football game when a guy scores 3 touchdowns. Probably would be hard to do in basketball since almost everyone on the floor will hit 3 shots lol.
I think Raptors fans should do the hat trick celebration when one of their players gets a triple-double (get at least 10 in three statistics) or better.
thanks for screwing it up (blue Jay front office) we could have had him at a number just north of what he wanted. Great job. Best of all he in a rivals dugout
Just love this clip, and David Price's reaction to us canucks and our hat trick tradition. That was when I knew it would be a special season last year. So close, a good fight. Thanks for that year, boys.
As awesome as the hat trick was, (and it was) did you see Navarro's face beside Edwin in the dugout? He is embarassed for him, its great! and the fact that Edwin is signing them and giving them back to fans - hats off to this team- once a jays fan, always a jays fan!
I was at this game! I remember seeing guys throw caps from the 500 level, only to land back in the stands in the 100s. There was like a 10 minute stoppage for the grounds crew to pick up all the caps
My favorite power hitter - Edwin was an absolute beast. I watched him hit a ball way over the left field wall at Fenway that hit a building across the street on the fly! I tried to find out the distance but could never even find any record of it.
I was there that day in the 500s, that August thru October was just magic and this game is one of my favourite memories. The curtain call still gives me chills
Ok i have to ask -- why does the sound of the catchers mitt and bat sound so satisfying ONLY on blue jays tv -- like theres a huge difference in the noise
+Zee Dee dude I'm a long time Jays fan and Rogers centre is properly deemed as one of the worst fields along with Tropicana because the structure is awful, and most of the diamond is Astro-turf, fake grass isn't true baseball and it makes people very prone to injury, until they change the look and install real grass and a dirt infield it will be proper, their "grass" is a fucking carpet and grabs ground balls like glue go educate urself ur probably a proud Jays fan since October 2015
epic I had to pull over... I ended up in a Tim Hortons parking lot.. so many people looked over while I layed on the horn hanging out the window hollering... just amazing!!!
I was there in the upperdeck once he hit that 3rd homerun omg that stadium was defining I couldn't hear myself talk nor my friends next to me cause it was so loud
Killer Creamstar it is mostly believed that adner doubleday from new york invented baseball, but he actually witnessed it being played in beachville ontario (canada.) He actually intended to spread the word of its existance rather than be known as its creator.
Rail Fanning Ontario chill out. You guys need to win 4 games, royals only need to win 2 more games, and you guys used your best pitchers already. It may not be over bit it's damn near close.
Are you crazy? 2015 and 2016 teams were fun to watch. But they were not even close to as good as those world series teams in 1992 and 1993. Those teams could do everything. They could hit, pitch, play small ball, plus had one of the greatest bullpens of all time.
Man I miss this 2015 team😔
did we just become best friends

OwO Butter_bean-_- 64 people did
but he is always a red too. Xd
Came here today for the same reason. All those people smiling and laughing and sharing a joyous collective moment. Seems like a different era.
@@alanblack306 Yes, Alan, it certainly does. Wondering if we'll ever see the likes of that again i.e. thousands of fans together, no masks.

if it is anything like the leafs, we all will be dead when it happens.
@ were they stealing signs? lol
don't forget our elite pitching rotation as well as roberto osuna
SkyMC I wouldn’t say elite pitching
t- milt elite pitching was the Astros rotation last year
Man, these were sure the days. I miss this team so much…

Always the most humble dude. Super quiet in front of the media, but he was a giant on the field. We miss you Edwin.
i was there, fucken loudest crowd I had ever heard.
me too
same
+David Lemieux I was at that game as well! Traveled across the country to see it!
+David Lemieux Same! Got on TV and am in the video at 1:35

It was hard to hate Edwin
Edwin is everyone's kind and cuddly Dominican uncle.
He was a solo homerun away from the home run cycle which never happened in mlb history. He had a chance in his last AB btw.
Abu Lahab thanks
If I remember correctly, he was pretty close to hitting that HR too - and his first AB in the next game was a solo HR.
Robert Encarnacion
ñ
I only threw a $45 hat..not even sure it made it all the way down lol
Lol
Hahahahaha! I laughed hard at your comment
I assure you my brother keep all those hats Lol on his Home of DR
What hat costs $45?
This gets you automatically thrown out of Yankee Stadium
ver esto me da una sensación enorme y orgullo de ser dominicano
The crowd was spectacular! Really great fans!

My brother it is one of the best up there now and still been a simple person . just keep it like that. thanks
Say hi too him
For real? You're Edwin's brother? One of my favourite players today, love seeing that Edwing.
You clearly speak good English. he doesn't how that happen?
quiero ver en español
mi hermano es uno de los mejores allá afuera y sigue siendo una persona humilde.
Not gonna be the same without EE.

I was at that game at the third base line omg best day of my life the crowd was SO LOUD! :D
After 30 years still one of the top 5 MLB parks when she's packed with fans.
he didnt do the curtain call until jose said "ok do it" RESPECT!!!!!
doubleplay1919 he's a discipline guy.
I was at that game. It’s going to be a while before we see the blue Jays this good again. 😥
yep. i was in the 5th deck first row. best game i’ve ever seen and i’ve gone to about a hundred
dw man the good days are coming back, Biggio, Bichette, Vladdy, Pearson. Hopefully we'll be a dynasty soon

JC Techspot because sportsnet. Buck martinez is also the best baseball commentator out there.
Do Bap nooooooooooooooo its Michael Kay
JC Techspot lets agree to disagree?
Microphone placement..
Goddamn, brings a tear to my eye :')
scarletrobin still does for me in 2018!
Gay
Martin West no u
I cant imagine him in an Indians jersey now lol
And now White Sox 😭😭😭😭
Legend. Sad he is gone from the team but he will always be a Blue Jay. Edwin rules!
You couldn’t get Edwin out in his prime. He was deadly and my all time favourite from this era.
Coming from a lifelong Yankee fan, this team was incredibly scary. They honestly should've gotten to the World Series, but the pitching fell short.
i heard david price said holy shit lol
K?
And Donaldson just had his own bat-trick today. Would have been awesome if it was one year exactly.
go figure when hockey and baseball fans mix, a hat trick on sports' most beautiful diamond.
Rogers centre is one of the worst diamonds fuck r u talking about

I honestly like Rogers Centrer. Maybe that's because I grew up with the god awful olympic stadium in Montreal...
+Austin Jackson doesn’t hurt that the Air Canada Centre is a 5 minute walk away
Man do I wish it was 2015 again
that poor little Tigers fan 3:46
Fuck him
the game turned into a nightmare... all the time he took to get here from michigan, ruined
He was just like FML
Man this team was electric
What lineup! That 2015 team was amazing to watch.
An awesome game, awesom player !! A joy to watch. WTG Edwin.!!!! Keep 'em comin'. lol
I was at this game. On vacation in Canada it was crazy to see
I was at this game, in the upper deck.....I picked a great day to take my daughter to her first Blue Jays' game!
My birthday... Aug-29, 2015! I was there with my wife and son!
You can see David price. "Look at all the hats now! Holy shit!"
This game was amazing and Michael Saunders just had a 3 home run game when they were playing against Baltimore Orioles in June
edwin encarnación merecía el mas valioso de la grandes ligas
The glory days 😥
Ya 🙁🙁
epic
I had to pull over... I ended up in a Tim Hortons parking lot.. so many people looked over while I layed on the horn hanging out the window hollering... just amazing!!!
Encarnacion was happier in Toronto. Great baseball player!! 🇩🇴
The broadcasts aren't the same without Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler
Tabler sucks. Dan clears
I miss this team so much

What about the other two? Seriously please include the other two
That time Edwin made the Tigers his bitch
fistfights
This is what today's team needs players like him and Bautista hitting
Was at that game in right field. It was fantastic.
Kudos to the cutaway at 1:42 of the dude clapping with half a hand 😕

Haven't seen that many blue Jays fans in a long time
Was at this game! So awesome!
You cherish things like this soo much more in covid times, if only Vladdy got to do it in front of the greats fans at Rogers Center
The 2015 season was crazy; it seemed like there was nothing the Jays couldn't do.

That game was amazing? Go Jays Go
Isnt the hat trick where you strike out 3 times..
Please tell me ur joking.
My god I miss this amazing team. Baseball today just feels sterile in comparison.
We miss him in Cleveland
I love Edwin
To anyone who says that a hat trick isnt a baseball tradition... Baseball was invented in Ontario, our game our rules.
