I've had some stupidly fast cars (stage 5 tuned 9-5 Aero, Chrysler 200 SRT, Boxster S etc), but at the ed of the day there will ALWAYS be someone faster, unless you're in a Rimac. My first MX5 was a NB2.5. Brilliant little car which taught me more about car control than anything I'd previously owned, and it gave me a taste for more, so it was traded for a NC1. I can't agree with the MX5 purists who hate the NC; it was better than the NB in just about every metric. Then in March I moved on to a 2017 ND RF, which again is a big leap forward from the NC. I get to hear the usual hairdresser jokes, but it's always from people driving SUVs or pickups, ie people who have no interest in driving. The MX5 is the antidote to modern cars.
Just looking at a 1.8 Mk2 and its last MOT it failed on all of the valve stems. Therefore, im wondering if i should avoid this as im assuming it had little to no oil in it at one point?
hey, good video, I'm about to get one, 1.8lr 2006, rust been treated a fair bit as checked it out and test drove. One thing I noticed was on idle, the gear lever was vibrating a fair bit. Seller said thats normal but I don't think so, what do you think? Also, have you got your own garage?
With £40 you can get a gearstick rebuild kit and bushing which will improve this a lot. Otherwise its normal because the stick goes straight into the gearbox unlike FWD cars

Not all late Mk2.5s had a 6 speed most still had the 5 speed box

I have an '08 and the gear shifter does vibrate on idle. Currently on a second engine, from a 2012 nc2, and still vibrates.
