Such a brilliant video. The video plays from the end to the beginning with the actual hidden ending playing at the end, while the song plays from the beginning to the end. Love it!
Well, I'm gonna assume she gets a life-threatening disease such as cancer, and if you see the beginning of the video, you can see them both crying over the news. Then at the end of the video, you see the dramatic result, which is that she dies. It's not actually a hidden ending, it was just excluded out from the beginning of the video and shown at the end of the video. I played this song at my nans funeral and it made the funeral director cry for the first time in his 30 year career just proves how strong this song is
I heard the first two lines of the song and I started crying. So much emotion in those words, in the way it was sung. Still in tears. This is life reflected there, that's why it touches our hearts so much. Congratulations on this beautiful song.
I can't. I literally can't watch this video or listen to this song without crying. It hurts to lose someone really close to you. Great song. Captured all of the feelings literally. Beautiful.
Although the older version was good this version of the video was in my opinion better. Like at 0:46 she appears as an older lady but then as he looks at her she turns into a younger woman, meaning that he sees her for her eternal beauty (similar to what Shakespeare did in shall i compare thee to a summers day), and that he will never not see her for that. The underlying themes in this song are amazing. Really beautiful song
+littleredkeeper Shakespeare didn't write "I wandered Lonely as a Cloud", William Wordsworth did. That poem isn't about this topic, either. The Shakespearean sonnet you're talking about is "Sonnet XVIII" or sometimes called "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day".
I saw that too. I'm so glad there are other people in the world who think like me, and properly look into the deep things of seemingly unimportant things.
This video for sure is not as sad as u may think. Its life bois and grills. They were happy whole their life, but sometimes it has to end, as u see in this video, just smile and reconize how many time u have to spend ur life wisely :)
+Faith Adlawan It's not luck as much as it is effort. You gotta commit to this if you really want it. Trust me it works for everybody, it's just the matter of how ready you are for that kind of commitment.
+Carlito Brigante yeah, but see I'm just saying lucky because effort isa two way street. And so people who get the chance to have that and actually last for a lifetime is how they are "lucky", but I know what you mean :)
Curse u James Lawson. 😡😭💔 Never in my life have I had an emotional reaction to a song. And have never been able to understand people when they say that they do...until now. U have literally just written my mum and dads life. Literally. Childhood sweethearts. Married in spring. 3 kids. Mum got cancer. Recovered. Then came back and she passed away from it. This song is LITERALLY about them. It's honestly like u have had a spy camera on their lives and wrote this song from the footage. Incredibly beautiful heartbreaking song. 👏👏👏
+Caz B Caz, this has been my life. From the viewpoint of your father. It's broken me... and also made me strong enough enough to carry on... Jamie missed a last verse. It's been over five years, and I guess I'm still here. I wasn't expecting that. Thought I'd follow you on, quite soon after you'd gone. I sort of expected that. I know now love is a lifelong thing, seems we're all just passing through. Hope your waiting somewhere for me... 'cause I'm still missing you. Your still here in my head, I feel your warmth in our bed. I wasn't expecting that. So now it's my turn to rest? Is that your head on my chest? I wasn't expecting that. Respect. Paul.
+Paul Whitfield aw I'm so sorry for ur loss. But I'm glad ur finding the strength to #alwayskeepfighting Thank you for sharing and ur last verse is beautiful. Take care. X
+Paul Whitfield My heart just aches for you. Your beautiful wife was a wise woman for she fell in love with a remarkable man....I am deeply saddened by your loss but knowing you shared a lifetime of memories with her fills me with joy as well. I hope you are at peace and know that she will be resting her head on your chest one day, waiting for you to join her. When my dad passed, I felt my moms presence in the room. I am the most non-believing, skeptical, logical, just the facts please, person *ever*, so feeling her "there" was truly shocking. They were a month shy of 50 yrs married when she passed and a month shy of 58 yrs when he did. I haven't a clue what happens after we die...but I DO know that she was with him as he left this world and I assume that they are together now..and that helps ease the pain of loosing them. I wrote down your verse so I don't forget it. Thank you for sharing such a personal, heartbreaking part of your life. It has touched me deeply. I wasn't expecting that....Leah
I don't think I've ever heard such a blissful song end on such a somber note. It's magnificent. It tears your heart out, gently pulling you through the exact emotions on how surprising a happy romance can be at every turn, whilst still reminding you that even the purest hearts and best intentions will eventually surprise you to the and in the end. No other song out there blended simplicity, beauty, and sorrow in such a poetic manner.
So jealous of Jamie being signed to Ed's Label.. I would kill for an opportunity like that! This video is beautiful too! Have known this song for years now but good to see a video to it :)
This is probably one of the best yet underrated songs of all time... :( From the lyrics to the music video, the message and the emotion of the song, everything is spot on. It's heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
This song has a deep meaning, which is every time I'm lonely I like to listen to, it makes me think of my mother, and my family, this song will be with me forever.

If you'd not took a chance
On a little romance
When I wasn't expecting that

At the end of the song a got a bit teary eyed. I wasn't expecting that
yeah
This is now seriously one of my favorite songs.
Beautiful song and video too. Portraits the best of life. All the best to all of you out there
Brings tears to my eyes everytime:(
This song never ceases to make me cry
This song always makes me cry. Always.
A month turned into a year and I'm still obsessed with this song 😍
Oh good Lord this is the sweetest saddest song!!! And wonderful video. Shows how life is too short to focus on anything but love.
This video for sure is not as sad as u may think. Its life bois and grills. They were happy whole their life, but sometimes it has to end, as u see in this video, just smile and reconize how many time u have to spend ur life wisely :)
Well, not everyone is as lucky to have that kind of 'real' thing. And so it is kinda emotional watching it, that you know, true love still exist..
+Faith Adlawan It's not luck as much as it is effort. You gotta commit to this if you really want it. Trust me it works for everybody, it's just the matter of how ready you are for that kind of commitment.
***** True. I agree completely
+Carlito Brigante yeah, but see I'm just saying lucky because effort isa two way street. And so people who get the chance to have that and actually last for a lifetime is how they are "lucky", but I know what you mean :)
Grills
Curse u James Lawson. 😡😭💔
Never in my life have I had an emotional reaction to a song.
+Caz B
Caz, this has been my life.
But I'm glad ur finding the strength to #alwayskeepfighting
Thank you for sharing and ur last verse is beautiful. Take care.
+Caz B then there you were, beautifler than before
Oh..
A breathtaking song about the depths of grief that only some of us will experience, and the rest of us must envy.
Beautiful song. Saddest ending to a music video ever.

This song just goes right through my heart and straight in to my soul. It hurts like hell losing you mom but at least you are not suffering any more
ed brought me here. this is magic
+JadesOfficial . ed brought me here too. thanks ed :)
so was I.... and its totally worth it !!
Ed sheeran actually signed this singer
+Caroline Cutie He was one of Ed's friends when he used play small gigs and wasn't that popular
JadesOfficial . Today Jamie is pre-band for Ed here in Sweden.
I'm a songwriter too :)
+LukeDunleavyMusic im sure you can make it to a label
+LukeDunleavyMusic I like your cover who Who Knew.
+LukeDunleavyMusic I thought this was sung by the guy who sang pompeii xD. So who is this guy? and what does he have to do with ed sheeran?
Jamie is much older than you Luke, I'm sure you will have your chance soon :) saw your covers you are really great!
Finally! I've been listening to this song for years and I'm so glad it's finally getting the recognition it deserves. :)
I've just lost someone very dear and this song make me remember life's to short so just sing, smile and be happy with what you've got.xx

So, I guess this has been said before. But that ending..........
I wasn’t expecting that.
Holding back tears.
This is probably one of the best yet underrated songs of all time... :(
From the lyrics to the music video, the message and the emotion of the song, everything is spot on. It's heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
I know this is a year ago. 22mil, not underrated anymore (:
This song has a deep meaning, which is every time I'm lonely I like to listen to, it makes me think of my mother, and my family, this song will be with me forever.

That empowers so many emotions and feelings
And I just wanna say thank you for this truly great song !!!!! If we ever meet I owe you a beer man
I feel like this is such a good take on the love story of Carl and Ellie in UP!!!! Both so cute at the beginning and so heartbreaking in the end
Wow...
For my innocent beautiful mom always....
She had her life stolen from her....
She was the most beautiful person ever....
A true Angel....
I saw him and omg he looks so cute even if he's so shy. His voice is so precious, live aswell
I love how the order of the video is backwards to the lyrics. Somehow makes it more powerful.
Saw him sing this live on a morning show 7 years ago almost to the day while sitting in the hospice room with my husband of 30 years (& we had 3 kids). Within a few days he was gone. This song says everything.
So glad, this song is very healing. CJ x 💋
I think that was the most beautiful music video I've ever seen....
