It is unfortunate that the learning curve for Latex is steep but there is no comparison between the capabilities of Latex and that of wordpad. The tutorial is to motivate people to learn latex, it does not need to cover the advanced features.
Thank for your tutorial, It's very very good to understand how we can begin with this more beautiful 'language'. I become an addict about LaTeX. Enjoy your life.
Get Scientific Workplace Software and let it code the latex for you. I've never encountered anyone who has used both Scientific Workplace and Latex Coding by-hand who didn't agree. The most common excuse I hear for not using it is that "I like latex code", but I have NEVER heard of anyone printing out the code without LaTeXing it because they really do find the code easy to read. The other nice feature of Scientific Workplace Software is that it has a math engine that can do things like check your algebra, plot functions, ect right from your document, without need to recode your formulas into mathematica. The engine isn't fully-featured like mathematica, but it is still very handy.
Sir, please tell me how to write paper in latex in given springer format... they advise to use smallcondenced format and svjour3 in documentclass for the paper to be in their prescribed format.
I need a suggestion, which laTex editor is best ? My prof recommended WinEdt but it's not free. $40. And you have to pay $20 during every update. Which one is the most popular ?
I've got a simple question. How do you get new chapter on a new page? In Word you can spam enter a lot and the text shove down and spawned on a brand new page. How do you do this in LaTeX?
I created a file using texshop, I saved it then 5 different files are saved. But I want to retrieve my source code so that I could edit it. please tell me how to do it?
can someone people tell me the benefits of using LaTex. why cant i just simply use Microsoft Word to write my document? Latex seems to be so complex and requires some level of coding. what are the benefits of using this software.
The benefits came when you know enough of latex. A) Is free so, you dont have to pay anything. B) Is easy to learn, and once you learn you just type everything you need. You dont need to worry about the output. Latex will do everything for you. 3) also because of being an computing language you can use it with other languages and automate the production of reports (if you make your own template). And of course, just because you can learn it.
Well this video sure did explain how the hell Latex works and what it does, right now there is a big road ahead trying to understand how it works in detail...

Apart from issues that arise from opening Word documents using different versions of MS Word which can be avoided by converting a finished document to pdf, I don't see how this could be considered a better alternative, especially since it's way more complicated and requires some learning and memorization.
Thank you for the very brief and easy introduction to LaTeX ..I would like you to share videos showing how to include graphs figures etc in the LaTeX document or atleast provide with some link which gives the related information
No lengthy introduction, starts typing 18 seconds into the video, and gets us to the first rendered document at 1:41. Love it. Thank you!

Your professors might give you an extra point in your reports and assessments because of being impressed.
Other than that I see no use for this.
