I don’t know why everyone is so indignant about cutting off the cuticle, I live in Russia and every master here cuts off the cuticle. If a person has completed the course, then everything will be okay. And this is the first time I’ve heard about an infection; I’ve never met a person who had an infection because of this

    • @catmomther

I've definitely given myself an infection a couple of times doing this at home. That being said I'm not a professional and I don't sterilize my tools frequently because it's only me using them. I think to prevent future issues, I'll have to soak my cuticle trimmers in disinfectant

chill girls, if the person, who is cutting you cuticle, actually took courses on how to do that correctly and if they disinfect everything, you'll be fine, no infection. thousands of russian girls go through it every month and we are all still alive

The thing is what they cut is NOT the cuticles, it’s the eponychium & it’s living skin! According to the State Board Laws , we aren’t permitted to cut or trim any living skin. A lot of nail techs have had their license suspended or have been fined for doing so. Stray far from a nail tech who performs illegal services.

@@daniellorenzo3085 she wouldn't let to cut her "living skin" that easily. try to cut your finger, it's not a nice feeling. whatever is off your body cant be considered "living". otherwise skin pilling of your body after you got sunburned would also be considered "living" and so sin could be lawsuitted. cutting cuticle is defo not a crime against humanity, let them manicure girls be.

In Russia, we are all getting this kind of manicure, and instruments are being sterilized (pushers, nails bits and scissors), there is no chance you will be getting the same pack of instruments that were used on previous clients, even nail file is going to be brand new
Personally I do manicure for 5 years like this, and I’ve never experienced any infection, it is important to go to an educated person

A professional would understand proper cuticle care would eliminate the need to cut it off because over time they would shrink as you push them down. It’s like shaving your head because your hair got dirty. It’s unnecessary. Medical professionals advise against it. I’ll trust someone with 12+ years of medical school/residency than a nail tech.

This specific method is called a Russian manicure. Just because it’s called that, doesn’t mean it’s not done everywhere.

Cuticles are the sealant between your nails and your skin, they prevent bacteria and fungus from taking root there. Cutting cuticles actually risks you to infections and is very much similar to the habit of nail biting, in a way. It's healthier to just oil them and push them gently if you want to get your nail polish as close to the base as possible. If you really want to cut it, make sure you're either disinfecting and sanitizing your nippers or going to nail techs who you trust to disinfect their tools after every client PROPERLY.

I love my cuticles. With just a microscopic amount of tlc, they get SO pretty. When I worked retail, my cuticles got effed and were pretty much non-existent, which made my cuticles area so quick to inflame. A year later and they've all grown back, and my cuticle area never gets inflamed. Cuticles are important for your health, and no one can convince me otherwise. Customers are paying for a service and potentially harming clients more when doing this by putting them at an increased risk for infection. Just like a surgeon is monitored or a police officer. Who wants experts that aren't being monitored for safety? Just because there are homeless and thieves, that doesn't take away from the fact that every field needs regulations. Correction: cuticle is the skin stuck on your nails. The little ledge you see above the cuticle is called the nail fold which should not be cut! Which unfortunately is mistaken for the cuticle which is always cut. Which may cause further damage and problems. 🫤

You can achieve that close to the cuticle look by using a small liner brush towards the cuticle

If cuticles are part of the human body it’s because they have a function. They protect your nails, just like hairs protect your skin among many other functions. This is why removing cuticles regularly during manicures is not advised.

no but fr i stopped cutting my cuticles couple months ago and they went from being crusty and ugly to looking nice
i used to have many hangnails that's why i started removing my cuticles but just moisturizing with oil and pushing them back feels so much better

@@extrasagrada I know that's how some people feel, but there are some of us with short attention spans or who don't have or want too tok that these shorts are perfect for. I've been introduced to a few youtubers that I do end up subscribing to and watching longer videos when I can.
