I like to do this a lot. For no particular reason I put a large attractor, ie Royal Coachman, on the end of my tippet ant then tie 6-8” onto the shank with the smaller, ie Blue Dunn, on the end of that. Is this wrong? It seems to work well and is very easy. I get about the same number of hits on each fly.🤔 Lots of good information THX
@Tom ,Thank you for being so clean, and not throwing that strand of tippet on the surrounding area, see Alot of UA-cam fishing channel's doing just That soon ignorence
what’s the difference between wet flies, nymphs, soft hackles and streamers? When you say nymphs i imagine prince nymphs and copper johns, when you say streamers i think of wolly buggers and zonkers, but what’s a “wet fly” or “soft hackle”?
A nymph is a type of wet fly specifically meant to imitate an insect nymph. Generally they’re going to be dead drifted. Wet flies are the larger category, but most people these days say wet flies and picture flies that look more like adult insects or are at least impressionistic. Soft hackles are a style of fly that has swept back hackle are the collar. They’re most commonly fished as impressionistic wet flies and most classically swung. The hackling often traps air, and as they rise at the end of a swing, they do a great job of imitating an adult insect emerging from the bottom up to the water’s surface.
Absolutely a joy opening UA-cam and seeing a new video from Orvis and Tom! Thank you all for all you do to provide us this resource!
Tom Rosenbauer is the best.
I love swinging soft hackles! Thanks as always for the great content.
Really enjoy your segments. Thank you
Very helpful video Tom. Thanks for sharing.
Great information Tom. You are the best.
Good video. Love wet flies for trout. My go to any time anywhere
Nice, looks like the Simpson with the ever-present wind. Thanks for that.
TR at his finest!
Wet fly fishing....very enjoyable. Endless dropper possibilities and type of casts. Let them hook themselves. The tug is the drug.

Yep, don’t use your teeth. Just finally got my front tooth replaced, formed a groove over 20 years then it finally cracked.
