It’s a nice place, that cost them a butt load. He didn’t say what the cost/night is…so I know it’s high. I guess if 3 couples wanted to go and split the cost it could be do-able.
I live about 2 hrs from here. I wouldn’t have known it existed except for this video. I am ok that it’s informative and a bit of an ad. He is also a proud owner and I can tell this was no easy build. I’m actually going to see if our friends have any interest in staying here with us.
First and foremost, I love his shoes! This build is wild! What a totally brilliant mind to think so far out of the box to create this amazing "box of boxes." I love everything about it and even though it's 900+ sq ft, it still has all the qualities of a tiny home. AND...It has been given the perfect name! Thanks for this fabulous tour! 💗
I really like what people are doing with container homes. The creativity that goes into the designs is beautiful. What a great way to re purpose material. Really nice.
Not really. Corten steel has been tried before for homes. "Trailer" homes in the midwest have went through the problems already. It's not a new idea. Already been done.
This is truly an amazing space. And clearly this got all kinds of upgrades, creative touches and such. But for a home to take three years to come together and cost over $600,000 in a scrubby desert using shipping containers is a major example of the housing insanity we're in now. These alternative homes are getting as unaffordable as the typical homes.
Considering the timeline they'd have been able to put this together much faster and at a fraction of the cost by using flatpacks and SIPS or EPS as opposed to containers...
NEIL!!!! Used to see you at the car shows all the time!!! Small world! I had an R32 and a S15 back in mid 2000s to 2015ish! My kids have them now. Guess I have been out of the car scene for so long! Doing something similar to this in colorado, but with single units cut in half, and sliding door ended, we are hoping to be online by next summer, and offer affordable living to former HOMELESS Veterans, great to randomly see you again! I think the last time I saw you, we were at D1 talking about your 4dr gtr! I had a yellow s2000 widebody by mastergrade back then, has an LS7 turbo swap? Now I am spending all my money on building alternative private tiny home communities around the u.s. and elsewhere!
It's stupid for you, but not to him. If he can afford it, and want it, then it makes sense to him. Whatever kind of living makes sense to each individual, you get whatever you can afford and want. Everything does not, and is not 399 sq ft, for 30k to 70k. Whatever people want to spend their money on is Their business. He also used some quality material/items, which is also nice, if you can afford it. Who set the rules here for everyone, you ? Apparently this is what he wanted and worked hard for three years to accomplish it. Could he have built a regular home, got the land, furnished it, and everything else for this price in California ?
This one is a “getaway/short term rental” home in a super touristy area. Even if he charges only 300$ a night, he’s easily making 50K a year at the low end. Add to that no electricity or a/c costs (solar), plus land value increase. This project will pay for itself easily

I’d love to be this owner’s friend so I could hang out here. This layout is amazing and the whole compound is beautiful!! Three simple letters- WOW!!!!
He is a really nice communicator, know exactly what he is talking about and when and what to say. I wish i had that confidence. I would binge watch him if he had his own youtube channel. I love jow cool this container home looks and plus the swimming pool ?? He really knew what he was doing
The truth is very beautiful, your design and choice of colors are amazing and beautiful, and also the intelligence in the way you distribute the rooms or the design in general is awesome, may God bless you in this house.
Original piece of art. Bedrooms seem small, cramped up against the walls and the containers are too narrow. Way to hot to live there. Don't think the the ac would be effective enough to cool down 115-120 heat! Global warming is here! No shade! $650k is a lot to live in a barren desert!
Neil you did a Great job.. Followed your dreams and came out to be amazing, I’m planing to do something similar in Puerto Rico . Moving from NY. I was a contractor 40 years my specialty interior renovation residential an commercial in Manhattan. I always wanted to build my own house , container style in a beach front property. You gave me lots of ideas. I’ll keep you posted with my project Airbnb. David
Really amazing result. Very high end quality and wonderful design. Since it must get hot there, I would probably add a pergola or umbrellas over the outdoor seating and dining areas. I've never understood the double head showers in a bathroom. Do people actually take showers together where that's necessary? But again, an amazing result. Very luxurious home.
Thank you for sharing this build. Some great ideas, and the pool is marvelous. Also, thank you for sharing what it took to financially make this happen.
Amazing house! But one major thing you have missed out on is adding live green plants both inside and out. This will make your house so much more alive. Besides that you have created an amazing house.
the purpose of a tiny house is to get away from debt. 💰🤑 This land was cheap..but, the home was wayyyy to much money. It's cheaper to build with stick or cement blocks then having to have these containers crane lifted in place.
Great build, I think its important for some people to understand is that not everyone goes into tiny living for financial reasons, many go into it to live a more minimalistic lifestyle and get away from the hustle and bustle ❤
I love the house. I could happily live there forever. Although I agree it needs some shade but the house is new. Landscaping takes time and big money. We did it from dirt too. So give the folks time to settle in.
I love this… Mad kudos! Great ideas! My wife and I are looking at ideas for a getaway place, with a minimalist lifestyle- without going overboard. This is a great balance!

I would have done a bunk room in that 2nd bedroom with maybe 4 pullman-style bunks with individual privacy curtains, lights, power stations - and with the option of raising the upper bunks to create a second living space with l-shaped daybed sofas across the bottom and a big tv/gaming system. Because the inherent problem with shipping container guest houses is there's a lack of common living spaces for guests to hang out in. You would create the option of a DEN.
A very purist approach to container homes. I love that they kept the aesthetic and embraced the narrow nature of the containers. 3 bedrooms in 960 square feet is really good! Building in CA is stupidly expensive - no getting around that, but they really did an amazing job.

Hands down, one of the best Container designs I've ever seen!!

Love this layout and it's a truly beautiful amazing home especially the pool
My only concern is there is no shaded areas 😮
Should add those giant shade triangles in the patio area.
Ya. The could easily put in two of those three corner ‘sail’ covers and that would help.

$650,000? That’s stupid for so little house. Small living doesn’t make sense anymore. You pay more to get less.

It doesn’t get that hot in Joshua Tree. Palm Springs yes but not in the high desert.
Global warming? I live in a desert in Australia, and the summers aren't any hotter, and it still snows once a year in the hills south of here

Beautiful. Well done. A big contribution to the local economy.
I don't know how they have a pool out where the wind blows 90%of the time. I lived out there, nice view but this is a no for me. And very expensive.
Is it really that windy? We've been thinking of moving out there but if it's always windy and dusty I dunno
WOW! The heat must be brutal in the summer.
Clearly, he loves this place and wants to share the joy. How they arranged the containers to create the courtyard and room layout is clever.
He wants to make money..
This is an Airbnb. He’s selling you or something?
Thank you for sharing this build. Some great ideas, and the pool is marvelous. Also, thank you for sharing what it took to financially make this happen.
Amazing design. I really like the design and the making of things such as the pool inside a container. Really Creative.
Excited to watch!
It is incredible! And incredibly expensive!
Most of us cant afford a $650,000 PRIMARY residence, much less a SECOND home that's just a vacation "get-away" spot. Very depressing.
It's stunning building a home out of a shipping container,it's beautiful living in a container home,
Great AirBB Ad! I would definitely stay especially during winter.
This house is great, and “of course” it’s amazing because they’ve “thought of everything!” 😄😉

Because he's trying to make money off of it. If he didn't need his money back then he wouldn't have to make this a long commercial for his AIR B&B.

That's probably the biggest and best looking bathroom I've seen in a container unit home I see why he said it was his favorite room in the house.
I want something like this but have the solar panels acting like a roof in the center to shade the center.

Appreciate someone been honest about the expense, if I'm spending 650k I don't wanna have to have any blood and sweat
While it's fun to create playgrounds for holidaymakers, surely it's a massive waste of water to have that pool in an actual desert. WTF, dude.
