2014 Ruddington Christmas steaming

- After last years excellent event we were glad when we were told it would be held again this year.
A very cold frosty but sunny day but it didn't worry us,we took our 5"inch 08,Rosie took charge of this while I tried to get some video.
A very enjoyable day thank you to the Nottingham M.E members for putting this event on again,roll on 2015's
A great video of this aspect of railway modelling! Thanks for the chance to have a look around.

They have a superb set up there Chris, a wonderful collection on show, like the radio controlled duchess, the Deltic, and of course Rosie :o)...Best wishes...Bob
Robert Masterman Yes Bob it's a good place to visit,they always look after you at Ruddington.What I failed to add was the large 00 gauge layout and of course the Standard gauge railway was running Santa specials as well.The duchess was lovely and coal fired as well,just amazing...Best wishes.Chris.

It was good to have such a large variety of locos running on all the tracks. Over 20 locos and owners braving the cold.

Brillaint video! Love the Gauge 1 to! I had planned to visit this one last October but it was closed for obvious reasons so I went to Crich instead!
Looking forward to Monday to see if we are being released from prison,that's when they are reviewing this lockdown..Hopefully we can get back to some normality by May,fingers crossed.
@@wooltman I agree!! We've all got to many railway to visit rather than being stuck at home all the time!

Brilliant fun! They certainly shift along the straight there. It's a lucky person that gets to drive an A4 and a 9F in one day.
AndreiTupolev Hi Andrei,They really do nip along,lovely loco's.Rosie had gone around and around on the 08 until she had no battery left then she started on the steam,she would have took every one for a run if they had let her,she just loves driving any type of loco.Best wishes Chris and Rosie.

Also I have driven a class 20 on the 7 1/4 inch track up to the top station which is quite nice
+Ben McGuinness We have used the top station with our Hunslet,great fun running around the train and leaving again,shame they don't use it more often..We hope to be running again at Ruddington in December......Chris

MI Rail Yes Rosie was driving our 08 battery electric, plus anything else she could get her hands on.Chris.
I'm ashamed to say I have not visited Ruddington (Member at GCR Loughborough) but having watched your excellent coverage Chris it will have to go on my ever increasing long list. A great mix of guage & loco's & some were 'going a bit', especially Rosie on your 08 'Jocko' lol. Does She let you have a go sometimes?? Best Wishes, Brian.
SYKAROST Hi Brian,I do get a drive but not that often LOL,you really are missing out by not visiting Ruddington and GCR North,what I never showed on this video was the Santa specials on the standard gauge,run by a class 2.8.0 class 8 steamer t&t with a class 25 diesel,plus the very large 00 layout and the bus museum.Put this location on top of your list Brian.Best regards Chris.

How do they get the 5 inch locos from the steaming bay to the main track circuit
+Ben McGuinness Hi Ben,If you look again at the video and look at the steaming bays, a transverser joins the end of the steaming bay as required and the loco is transported to the running track,you can see this on the video at 2.27,it moves over the 7 1/4 track when the gates are opened.Hope that helps......Chris
