- I head into the woods with my dog during a wet snowfall to spend the night and cook up some delicious food over a campfire! We have a good time and Rueger spends his first night in the woods in winter under a tarp!

As a fellow northerner I appreciate the challenge of lighting a fire when the environment is all damp and covered in snow. Thank you for showing a great method for getting dry kindling even in the middle of the snow. :) I can also appreciate the fun of setting up shelter and getting a fire started after sundown. :D
This was so fun and seeing dear sweet Rueger out with you and enjoying himself was amazing. Thank you so much for your videos. These are what I watch while taking my Chemo. This had everything, some snow, some S T I C K T H R O W I N G, a ripping fire, Matthew being roasted by ripping hot coals, a massive cheeseburger, a late start, and a pretty fair night under the tarp. Wish we had snow here in South-Africa to go camping in . . .this pretty much sums up my camping, burn my fingers, burn my food, the meal is the main attraction, scratching, bending or breaking something on my car ....and always leaving something behind that i forgot to pack up again. I went winter camping for the first time this week. I would never have thought it to be possible if it weren't from your channel. I even managed to start a fir ! (with a lighter...I'm still learning !)

Even it is cold...my heart is all warm ❤
Pam or generic cooking spray will stop the snow from sticking to Rugers fur. We have a little yorkie poo who doesnt go out a hiking but my girlfriends doggie with long hair does...she swears by it...spray on hands massage in fur and problemed solved, no snow balls on fur always check first to make sure it doesnt cause a reaction to him.
My hubby, my daughter and of course myself, we do so love what you put out there and we all enjoy watching you...and the boys
I just love, love, love, when Funks with you , even though she doesnt want to be on you tube and I cant blame her I just laugh at the both of you when your together you both compliment each other very well and are so humorous.

Hi Matt and family, I just wanted to let you know that we very much appreciate your videos. You mentioned that you were cooking your parents famous potatoes and I thought maybe you would like to try my husband Dan’s famous fire potatoes. The recipe is this, dice the potatoes into pieces and put into a pot and add a lot of butter and a bit of olive oil. Add season salt, pepper, onions minced garlic and Montreal seasoning ( of course). Toss to coat and put a cover on the pot and place on the fire. Stir occasionally to make sure that it doesn’t stick but crunchy on the sides. Add a dollop of sour cream and eat. Enjoy

So the snow was wet, rats nest, mishaps with the cutting, no birch bark, burning hand on a log, the "Break Grate", a little hot fire potato char, a leaning burger tower, and I was laughing several times at the Ruger noises. Great vid!
