Tobias Harris is a scourge. A menace. His box scores are a mirage. In his 5 and a half years in Philly he has not taken over a single game, made one impact play, or just make any impact in any relevant games, all while making the most money on the team 4 of those 5 and a half years, preventing them from ever being able to build a serious roster.
A good portion of this was Kofie having a meltdown over the potential for the pistons to sign Tobias Harris. I am now worried that the pistons might sign Tobias Harris.
if the Sixers can't somehow acquire Bron/Jimmy/Booker via FA or trade, they should use their 60m in cap to focus on signing multiple high-level role players Drummond - 8m Malik Monk - 20m Obi Toppin - 16m KCP - 16m starting lineup: Maxey KCP Oubre Toppin Embiid bench lineup: Payne Monk RC4 Batum Drummond and use the MLE to re-sign Kelly Oubre
Now what? What do you mean now what? Now we watch the Phillies lose in the dumbest way possible until it’s the Eagles turn to collapse. On the positive, cheesesteaks tho? 🤷♂️
As a Celtics fan who has become accustomed to the team choking and underperforming their talent, I'm glad our neighbor buddy Sixers exist to remind me IT COULD ALWAYS BE WORSE
Yeah Maxey’s RFA. The only potential way I see him leaving is in a trade for an old star that asks out like PG or someone but I’m 99% sure he’s staying
The only reason the Sixers didn't extend was to take advantage of some cap rules that gives them more room to sign new players this off-season, before giving Maxey the same level of new contract. There's no way they're letting him go, and I don't think we've seen any rumors implying that Maxey has even considered wanting to be somewhere else.
Adding PG would be dumb. He makes about $50 million a year. After signing Maxey, they would only be able to sign minimum salary players and would be a 2nd apron team, which limits their ability to make trades. They just need rebounding, defense, and shooting. They should sign Monk, Bridges (or Toppin, if available), and Theis (Maybe Bruce Brown since it seems like the Raptors will not pick up his option). I would say DeRozan, but he's not a good 3 point shooter or defender. Bring back Oubre, Payne, Batumn, and Council. Possibly bring back Reed and Lowry (on a vet minimum). If they don't want Theis, try to sign qnd trade for Drummond. A back up center is a need. That team would work around Embiid and Maxey...
embiid hate is weird because, like, he’s the team, who routinely make the playoffs, the team disintegrates without him on the floor and he’s routinely injured, and yet people act like fhey’re starting me, a 5’11” person who’s never played basketball and is the wrong gender for the NBA. Basketball is a toxic circle where people seem more easily convinced that people are bad rather than some teams function better than others. it feels like people wish this game was a solo sport like tennis, and really want to blame everything wrong in a sport inherently interlinked by scheming and grouo chemistry on one guy. it’s depressing.
Well it’s interesting people hate Embiid for not having made the conference finals, and simultaneously hate Trae Young who… has made a conference finals. I think people just enjoy having something to hate; doesn’t matter if it’s sports, politics, or even business.
I think if the Sixers can't land PG or LeBron, they should just go for high-level depth like KCP, Malik Monk and Hartenstein. I know a lot of Sixers fans would want Jimmy back, and Embiid would probably want that too, and it could work out, but personally I am very concerned about his health and his generally poor shooting, so I don't really want to risk those fit issues. If Batum doesn't retire, they should bring him back regardless of whether they bring in a star or not. I'd like them to bring back Oubre as well. In any case, I think they need to fill out the roster with two-way players that will be guarded at the 3pt line and can at least provide some resistance on defense. Ideally a bunch of wing-sized dudes like they had this year because that helps to compensate for Maxey and Embiid's defensive weaknesses. OG Anunoby would have been perfect but he seems perfectly installed in New York so I don't think that's an option. I don't think the Nets are trading away Mikal Bridges but he'd be another ideal fit if he's willing to go back to his Pheonix Suns role.
@@increasearmadillo3032 DeMar led his squad to the conference finals. Tobias has never, ever, EVER, even for one game, meant as much to his team succeeding as DeMar has on average for the last decade, constant playoff drop be damned.
