His is a separate genrè in Mrudhangam percussion. There's one downside to his play, though. The addiction gets quite invasive such that, other conventional Mrudhangam percussions don't appeal to you anymore..!

Yes, b/w 39:30 to 41:10 it is Khandam. The reason why many people sing khandam swaras for this song is, pazhani malai urayum muruga is 10 matras in 5+5 pattern. So singing khandam and bringing to that place is very aesthetic ; of course you have to sing well too :)

Thank you for getting us these wonderful concerts. My only request is to get the audio glitches sorted. The violin and mridangam are dominating over the vocals. Its hard to even listen to Sornalatha.
you may be right; but it is possible to concentrate on one person sometimes i concenrate only on mridangam eply when guruvyur dorai plays for sanjay in u tube.

In the days of "yagya valka" there was no violin , after hearing Akkarai -sisters concerts either violin or vocal , for the remarkable control ,on vocal strings aswell as strings of the violin , yagya valka , would have reframed his thoughts as " violin vadhana , tatwa-gyana , shruthi -jathi visharadha ,taala gyanastha, prayasena moksha maargani nischayate ." my humble opinion. exhilarating concert.! .
