The issue with sitting at the board calculating without rest is not only mental exhaustion but also that it gives no opportunity for _intuition_ to kick in. Intellectual processing subdues intuition, which works when one _isn't thinking about something_ . By calculating 100% of the time, the Botes are neglecting a vital faculty.

Please don't rush back to the US before enjoying Sardinia! I'm Italian and I've never been to Sardinia, you're basically in the best time of the year to enjoy it: low tourists, in theory warm weather (in practice we're under a cold spell, ugh) and clean waters! The sea should be a bit chilly but the Mediterranean is a closed sea it never gets too cold!

@stevenhubbs8004 I was wondering why she claimed that Italy is a poor country. Yes, GDP per capita is a bit lower than in some Western European and Nordic countries like Germany, Finland, and Sweden, but it's not that far behind. For example, just a couple of thousand behind Great Britain. If we don't include those small 'countries' like Monaco, Italy is about 15th in Europe by GDP, so it's not even on the mid-level, let alone the poorest ones. And to clarify, Hammer: 30,000 / 12 = 2,500. So Dina's 1,500 wasn't even close. And yes, Hammer, you are a bit spoiled in that way because Norway's GDP per capita is among the highest ones in the world.
Italian here, we've got some of the lowest salaries in Europe for the major EU founding countries sadly. 1500€ is very much common it depends on region, Sardinia is not particularly rich so that would be more common than 1700€. 2400€ is seen as amazing salary here.
On the plus side life tends to be really cheap (except for cars and housing) as long as you stay south of Rome (and avoid tourist traps)

Here in Finland, the monthly wage is something like 3700 euros or a bit more (the median is around 3300). Of course, the price level is important to take into account. Nominal wages are just nominal wages. But the difference between Finland and Italy in GDP is just about 4000 euros (60,851-56,905). GDP is not exactly the same thing as wages but closely related. So you are claiming that wages in Italy would be about half of Finnish wages... I don't believe it."
