    Someone did find an explaination for "the whistler". A Redditor recognized it as a call sign for duck hunters, which they use to warn people that they're around without scaring away potential game. That explained why OP heard the same sound years appart in two completely different areas, and arguably why OP's mom was worried at the time (if there are people out hunting, you might not wanna stick around). Note that both times OP heard the sound, it was around bodies of water (a swamp and a river) so yeah, duck hunters makes perfect sense.

Like, I'm sorry, but if anyone's to blame (other than the murderer & abuser herself) then it absolutely is the redditers that decided he wasn't "man enough" and should just divorce her without any forethought. Abusers murder their victims for less -- and in this case, she knew she wouldn't be able to murder him easily, and killing him wouldn't hurt him in the way she wanted, so she went for the obvious next best choice... the kids. Had reddit taken the case seriously and not humiliated an abuse victim, Jason mightve been able to safeguard his kids while he left his abuser.

"Why don't you take control and divorce her" he said why, she's blackmailing him by claiming she's going to use his mental health problems to keep him from getting custody of his kids. She obviously had the upper hand. Why did people have to victim blame? It didn't help anyone to rush him into action before he was ready, and to make him feel like what she was doing to his kids was his fault. God that makes me so angry. This happened once to me. Not over the course of years but one afternoon. I had recently graduated from university this spring but in this dream of mine I was back in school, in a classroom setting. The dream just started there and I was nervous around new people (bad experiences with classmates in the past) but they were very welcoming and kind to me and it felt great. I made a ton of new friends in this class and when class was over we went outside and I saw a combination of my middle school and high school campus, they were both outdoor campuses so most of it was outside. I noticed it looked familiar but ignored it and talked with classmates for a while. But one of them mentioned something and it clicked that this isn’t real. I stood up and said I’m gonna head out, and someone said “alright I’ll see you in class okay?” And I got really sad and said “no I don’t think you will. I don’t know what I’m doing here. I graduated already, I’m not a student anymore, none of this is real.” And I walked away to the parking lot and on the way I saw other students hanging around and I noticed they kept getting younger and eventually I was the only adult. It kicked in that I was on a middle school campus and I continued to the parking lot but then it clicked that the parking lot at this school was for teachers and staff only and my car couldn’t have been there and my brain stopped because it couldn’t figure out what to do next in the dream so it woke me up. I was so sad that I lost the friends that I never had in the first place

      Seriously, like bruh, I still feel guilty about the time my mother went to a friends house in the middle of the night and only came back shortly before midnight. She literally asked me why I didnt call (in a tone that sounded like she was somewhat hurt but trying to play it off like it was no big deal), and truthfully I almost wanted to, but I decided not to because I thought that she would be annoyed that I was treating her like a child.
      What I actually told her was that since she's grown I know she can handle herself and would have let me know if there was an unplanned delay in her return. She accepted that answer, I guess, but since that incident I've wanted to apologize for not being more vigilant about her safety.
      All this is to say that the fact this guy didnt even indicate that he called his wife after she was missing for SEVERAL DAYS is _absolutely_ suspicious, and I hope that woman is alive.

    Two friends of mine actually joined a very similar cult/alternate chapter of the cult mentioned in the video. Heads up, it’s story time. One of the people involved can and will attest to this, while the other has no comment, I’ll explain. Our freshman year of college, I was keeping close with all of my high school friends that went to the same college as me, two of which were two guys, we’ll call them Frank and Steve. (I’m bad at making up names, sorry). Frank was always a quiet guy and kept to himself, so I wasn’t surprised I hadn’t heard much from him after the welcome events at college. Strangely, I hadn’t heard from Steve either. Again, I figured people change in college and maybe he just found new friends or something. A few months go by, and Steve appears one day in my dorm room, we’ll just outside, but I let him in. I had shown him around before, but it was a surprise to see him again after such a while. He explained to me that he was leaving the college, and wasn’t coming back, that he was going to stay at home for a while. He told me that him and frank, who vaguely knew each other and had a class together, were walking there and reminiscing about high school and such, when a guy invited them to some welcome event for new students. I received the same invite, but ignored it. As it turns out, they showed up and began attending meetings, as it was supposedly a student involvement/activity group. He told me at first it was very chill, and fun even. They both really liked everyone in the group, and stuck around for about a month before it started to get weird. He skimped on the details here, but in short it began to get religious and “culty” as he said it. This was fine with them however, as they had established friendships in the group that they didn’t want to give up, so they stuck it out. Apparently, just a day before he came to my dorm room, they were planning to leave on a camping trip, no cell phones or personal belongings, and everyone agreed to leave their friends and family behind to have a group outing, which really made Steve freaked out. He began researching the group, with little result, and then the counselors, which gave plenty of results. As it turns out, the head counselor was using one of many aliases used in the past by leaders of different chapters of the same cult, who had many suspected cases of forced su***** of young adults tied to him. Real Jamestown stuff. Needless to say, Steve packed his things and loaded them into his car, came over to tell me after trying to contact frank, to no avail, and fled for home. He obviously reported this and by the end of the second semester the group no longer existed as far as I can tell, as their people were no longer handing out flyers on campus (they used to be everywhere). For over a year since then I heard nothing of or from frank, despite multiple attempts to contact him, until a random social media post alerted me he was still alive and kicking. From what I can tell, he just continued on his life after the group dissolved, and he was oblivious or in denial the whole time, as Steve raised his suspicions to him many times prior to his fleeing. After the group dissolved, Steve returned to campus and we’re both still going there now. I haven’t had a chance to talk to Frank since however.

    The attic story is suspicious to me for three reasons.
    First, cops didn't investigate the attic even though it's clear OP and friend heard the sound coming from there. That's way too convenient for the story to keep the "yeah no one wants to properly help investigate, not even the authorities".
    Second, the way OP's friend reaction. The friend literally stomped their feet to intimidate whoever it was making those sounds and even offered staying there all night if OP wants to. That's not how you react to something like that. You wouldn't even present the idea of staying there one more night.
    Lastly, it's way too convenient that the day he returned, a neighbor was there to report that somewhere around the time he was away, the neighbor saw two men that climbed over the fences.
    The details in the story are way too convenient that it doesn't sound believable.

    About the Mysterious Stores post, I've seen something similar.
    There's a city I often visit called Half Moon Bay, a coastal town of about 10,000 people at the southern outskirts of the SF Bay Area. They have one main shopping complex surrounding the intersection of the main two streets. One day when I was 7 and my mom drove into the city from San Mateo Road, I'd see an L-shaped block of stores past the cemetery. About 10-12 separate stores in total.
    Twice as Nice. Twice as Nice. Twice as Nice. Twice as Nice. Twice as Nice. Every single store in that building had that exact same name. I would've just assumed the entire building was rented out by one store, but what weirded me out is that the same "Twice as Nice" sign was plastered at every enterance every 20 or so feet, as if they were separate entities. It's been ages since I last remember seeing it, and it isn't that way anymore. I tried searching for Twice as Nice today on Google Maps, and it only shows one of the locations still there, stating that it's a variety store. So I have no idea what happened.

    Most of scary supernatural stories (like the whistler) can be explained by the simple fact that human mind is super malliable and memory is weird. Every time you remember something you are actually remembering the last time you remembered that thing, so the older the memory is the more "noise" it has over it. Also about the sleeptalking bit (Late Night Recordings) I honestly don't really get. The voice doesn't sound low to my ears. I think that voice sounds very similar to the other voice, assumedly op. Is it just me tho?

    • @CanteLizzie
      @CanteLizzie 2 роки тому +14

      These are both things I thought as well. I totally thought the sleep recording story could have been her, it's really not that low pitch. I also thought that the whistling in the video of the whistlers story sounded pretty basic, like a bird, so OP could have easily been mistaken. Especially with OP being primed to be scared by whistling by the mom's weird behavior the first time, any whistling or even birds could be thought of as "the whistler"

    • @shut7353
      @shut7353 2 роки тому +17

      The sleeptalking one was just her speaking imo. I grew up sharing a room with my sister and she talked in her sleep a LOT. She would have entire conversations, and sometimes change her voice. I remember waking up to high pitched singing, like in a baby voice. And got the shit scared out of me until I realized it was her. So its possible.

    Regarding the police not going into the attic, when my mom and I swear someone broke into our home in the middle of the night the police barely searched, the left the entire garage and a closet unsearched, so it weirdly makes sense the police didn’t check the attic.

    the thought of waking up one day, on the sidewalk then figuring out everything you've known for the past 10 years was fake. Waking up surroundeed by random people, then being stalked by nightmares of the life you thought you knew. I feel like that would be absolutely tragic for anyone, and i feel bad for op. i hope he gets better and i hope that he manages to find love and make up for the family that he lost.

    Yo I remember seeing that story about the lady pretending to be a cys worker. That one is wild and it is even scarier to look into it and see how common stuff like that and general infant abduction is
