Seriously thinking about KuneKune pigs. Have been doing my research on the breed and have to say that this is the best site on raising these pigs that I have found. YOU DESERVE MORE LIKES!
You seem to have more pig than you can possibly put in your freezer. Do you sell some for meat and/or sell the babies for extra money? Also, have you researched "Idaho Pasture Pigs ( IPP's). If so, what do you think?
Thanks so much for all this information! My husband has been talking to me about wanting to get Kunekune pigs for meat, but we have no experience with pigs. So this was a very helpful overview, and I look forward to watching your other videos on Kunekunes.
We never raised pigs before these. They are a great pig to start with. The only downside for raising them for meat is if you are looking for a quick turnaround on the meat. Kunes usually take around 16-18 months till we butcher. Thanks is for following along
@@KCFarms Well it seems like having such dolice, friendly pigs are worth the longer turn around. We have 5 kids ages 6 & under so we tend to pick the most dolice breeds of animals.
Please consider keeping the volume steady in your videos. I have to lower the volume when the music plays and raise it when you talk... In otherwise don't mind the music too much as long as I can hear you clearly over it... Thanks
Hi John....nice job on the video. Looking forward to the rest of the series. How well is your grass recovering? It seems the pigs rooted the pastures up pretty good over the winter. Did you get a new golf cart?
Grass is doing ok some spots are pretty rough and I didn’t get anything planted. No it is my mother in laws cart something is wrong with ours gotta figure it out
Thanks for the video. Really enjoy all of your videos! Is there a minimum number you started with? Can you get just one or do you suggest getting more than one. Thanks
Great video! We are new to your channel and Kune Kune's. We get our first piglets in 3 weeks. I was wondering where you got your shelters for the pigs? You videos are very helpful and very informative. Looking forward to learning more from you.
Great video! We got a KuneKune pig as a pet & she really is just like one of the dogs 😁 Although we did think she’d be smaller than she is 😂 She’s huge compared to yours, she weighs in at 300lb! She has 1.5 acres to herself, do you think that’s why she’s so big? What food do you feed them?
Kind of like finger nails. The clear ones are easier because you can see the quick. You don’t want them to curl up and they also form cups at the bottom.
I want to add my comment to pigs...they are clean, they never poop in their house, they have one spot in the yard to poop! Their poop does smell, but it is dirty on the part of the owner that allows the awful smell! You MUSY clean the poop up on ALL pets & it should be done on a daily basis. If you don't & there is odor, it's your own fault. I don't even have flies in my hen house. I only have four, but if I had more I would clean it every hour if necessary to keep the odor down. Cows are dirty. They will poop anyplace & that includes their stall & their feed pan! I know these things I have said I have experienced it! Everything else he says is also 100% true!
I just got a KuneKune boar for the first time, my cousin and I are starting a breeding business. This video was very helpful

Totally agree
How often do you have a clear the manure? How large is each paddock? How do you minimize the smell?
Oh how I wish I had enough space for pigs. You do such a good job with them John. Blessings always, g.
Thank you Gail
I grew up in Minnesota and I'm looking to move and start a homestead
YES! I Love my 2 pet Kune Kunes and they are like dogs, even smarter...mine sit for their treats :)
Definitely very smart

Hey thanks for following along! We get out mobile pigloos from tractor supply. They are just water storage tanks.
@@KCFarms Thank you so much!!!!
Where do you purchase your pig housing. The white water tank ones. Thanks!
We got those at TSC but the prices have over doubled since we got ours
@@KCFarms yeah they are like $950 near me. Was shocked

We feed 16% feed. Most of ours put young we only have one that’s over 3yrs old
How do I know when to trim their hooves?

Where could I find one of those pig loos? We’re getting 4 kunekune in March
Tractor supply but they have over doubled in price since we purchased ours
Very good video
Thank you

What is a "butchering weight" for kunes?
We’ve only had five butchered and they ranged from 150-200 lbs. people butcher them at all sizes
killin pigs for food IS NOT HEALTHY!
