if i have to check a bag i always make sure i have important items in my carryon bag! 1-2 pairs of clothes, my medication, things that I would be super sad to lose!
i learned this the very hard way & try to tell everyone i know!!!
Yeah, I didn’t understand how she ended up with nothing? Even when I check my bag, I carry a crossbody bag with my documents and wallet and a backpack or big tote with my electronics, medication, toiletries, and at the least a change of underwear, but must of the time I carry one full change of clothes. I thought that was basic travel knowledge 😂
There are only two types of luggage: carry-on and lost.
She said on insta that she tried to take it as a carry on but they made her check it :(
Air Canada does that a lot! For some reason they don’t seem to have enough space for carry ons on the plane go figure? So they offer to check it for free. Then they lose it. Happened to me as well. But I do keep prescriptions , cell phone in my purse. But I would have been fine wearing the same stuff another day and I don’t wear jammies to bed 😉😂. What a fun adventure nevertheless eh? Had she said no, she would never have experienced that awesome view, delicious chocolate confections and got to make pottery! 👍🏻

Also, pottery IS hard, and it can take a long time to learn how to center your clay and everything. And yes, it does takes a toll on your hands! I think you did amazing for your first try ❤

Your bowls turned out great! I took a pottery class years ago and none of mine looked that good. I always say pottery is worth every penny. It’s much harder to do than it looks.
That big church is the Sainte-Anne de Beaupré Basilica, legend says quite a few miracles happened there - it's a popular pilgrimage spot!

I saw a video about the A-frame tree house that you stayed in on the Exploring Alternatives channel a while ago. That video was mostly the builder talking about and showing off its features and amenities. Interesting to see the place again from the perspective of someone actually staying there as a guest.

Ooh I miss pottery so much. I took an intro class in college and we only used the wheel the last month of class. It took me like 9 straight hours to throw something decent on the wheel 😅

The luggage thing is such a pain! I once had that happen on a train when they sent my luggage to the station earlier in the day, but the train I ended up taking got in after hours, so my luggage was stuck inside the train station overnight. It sucked!
But I loved the pottery! It's always fun to try new things

This is why I always pack at least 1 spare outfit outfits pjs and underwear in my carryon and put essentials like face wash & skincare & makeup in my carry on. Just in case man anxiety makes you so mad things lol.
I have a very artistic daughter and when she was about 10, she asked for a pottery wheel. So, $ 50.00 later, she had a pottery wheel and clay. Messed with it for about an hour and that was it. It was incredibly hard and she gave up. Thats the way kids are sometimes. Anyway, i commend you for at least making something that resembles a bowl.

as someone who has been taking pottery for almost 2 years now, it is one of the most frustrating yet rewarding things ever. definitely takes a lot of patience! some days I can do it very easily and other days it is very difficult - definitely takes a calm state of mind!
What great trip and exciting experience. I’ve never thrown a pot either, I heard it requires strength. That church was the Sanctuaire Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre’, Anne is the mother of The Virgin Mary. ❤

I now have an extreme and sudden desire to stay in a treehouse cabin and do pottery in Quebec.
My credit card insurance straight up gives me $500 if my bag is delayed more than 12 hours! but I'm glad you got your bag.

Forest pottery? Heck yeah!!!!!! Btw, depending on the airline, if they lose ur bag or mess up so u go a day without it, u can show them the recipes for the makeup and clothes you had to buy and they have to reimburse you for like $300 worth or something like that.

I liked the trip and everything, but I feel like you could've introduced your friend to us or something, and maybe told a bit more about the trip or how it came to be. But looks like you had a good time exploring pottery making for a bit.

I took a pottery course eons ago and the thing I remember is you need to steady your arm from wobbling the bowls, by pressing it tight against your body. Not to worry, I was doing it for you here hahahaha!
I go on 2-3 week trips with only a backpack full of clothes. You wear the bulkiest things on the flight and carry on the rest in hand luggage. They charge $70-100 per checked bag now anyways for intl. flights so the only excuse to have a checked bag is if you're moving or a business owner going to set up your booth or something.
OK..... chocolate asparagus??? AND you got to stay in a tree house. SO COOL!!

I'm going to school for ceramics and wheel throwing is deceptively extremely difficult. Your first 200 pieces you make on the wheel will look absolutely terrible lol, so it's really an exercise in patience
