  • Aged care has been another “flop” from the Labor party as the fast-tracking of visas from people overseas has only seen “155 workers” brought into the country for work, Sky News host Paul Murray says.
“Amazingly today … just two per cent of visas have been granted under the scheme almost a year after it was established,” Mr Murray said.
“We are now just talking about 155 workers that have been brought into the country to work in our aged care facilities.
“After the government said they were planning to fast-track those people into our country.
“What a surprise, another Labor fail.”

I saw the most disturbing video two days ago of an elderly care home resident being abused by care staff. The family had a camera hidden and it was a compilation of different days and the one thing they had in common was they were all foreigners. They are NOT trained or caring but the lack of respect is something I can’t unsee

Yes this is happening ...In my MIL nursing home they are hiring workers from Asia I think Vietnam to work in the nursing home and what is worse they are building housing units to house these workers on the Nursing home premises....This is wrong train Australians to work in Nursing homes not bring in overseas workers its disgusting

Maybe Australian leadership might consider devoting these resources to assist current Australian citizens to become fully qualified as nurses and carers, rather than discounting our population (with record unemployment) for a quicker band aid fix.

Imagine the same principle being applied to paediatrics, there would be anarchy.

Agree, rushed through courses, poor management, lack of English and a lot of bullying in aged care, unfortunately also by management. There are a lot of Christian facilities, behaving in non Christian way.
I have worked more than 20 years in aged care
Surely there are some nice facilities & good managers, but it is rare. As I am getting older I will do everything in my power not to end in the nursing home.

@user-pq2ob1rd6r in Victoria, it seems centers are being encouraged/paid to take on Somalians.
Residents getting cold showers or no help, left laying in excrement.. etc etc

I have reported many incidents to management, as I couldn't watch how human beings are treated. Things improved temporarily, but it always came down to unsuportive management, unrealistic work load, financial issues, lack of enjoyment at work and mainly unprofessional staff.
I thoroughly enjoyed working in aged care, but often had to work with lazy or disrespectful staff

@@KT-bb1tb So were Hayden, Crean, Beazley, Rudd and Gillard but at least Hawke got eight years at the top. Keating and Shorten by contrast weren't booted out. (Latham is a special case) Your post means nothing.

Albo is just continuing Hawkes legacy...
To quote Bob Hawke “the Fabian Society acknowledges the principal tenet of Marxism, the abolition of private property, in this case to own land”.

They could also remove the requirement to be jabbed and they would have plenty of applicants. Coercion doesn't work with most thinking people.

Why can't we look after our own elderly? Do you mean that aussie nurses don't want these jobs?

    • @wyattfamily8997
      @wyattfamily8997 Рік тому

Thousands of nurses ( Paramedics and Police) were sacked after the attempted coescion into taking the jab. Wisley they decided their ongoing health was more important than a job. They were entitled to do this under the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, even though the then Federal Government disgustingly "SUSPENDED" the human rights of its citizens. The majority found alternative employment and the majority decided NOT to ever expose themselves to such dictatorial actions ever again. I know of a Vistoraian Firefighter of longstanding who was dismissed from the brigade for hsi stand, is still not permitted to rejoin, but is welcome to "volunteer" as they are shorthanded. Disgusting persecution as they are determined to still refuse him a lving wage but want him to do the saem job without payment.

Hard job, not very well paid, shift work, working in dementia unit could be dangerous, dying residents, demanding relatives, high turnover over of staff, frequent change of management (in 7 years I had 7 different managers), often dysfunctional management unable to support staff.

Good grief aging is becoming a strain on everybody. No wonder we are all on depression tablets.
As for Cricket I say to them how proud are they to wear that baggy green hat. It's an Australian hat. Are they Australian or not. Word is people are boycotting cricket this year. Not backing anyone if we cant wave our flag at cricket. What about England vs Australia? Will cricket ban flags next?
