I have this machine and am sewing jar openers with rubber drawer lining. How do I adjust the tension on the pressure foot, so that it will sew and move smoothly along with the rubber side up?
Thats a good question , But there will be a way to dial the pressure way back on or near the pressure foot itself . If you can use an embroidery pressure foot otherwise . Good Luck ...John
I just got this machine from my mother. I am having issues with the top thread not catching in the middle of sewing. It the needle is shredding and snapping my top thread. I have already tried replacing the needle. Any suggestions? My mother has also looked at it and was unable to solve it.
Assuming its threaded correctly . Tensions are not too tight or snagging on something . If so then the timing could be a little late and needs to be advanced a little . Only make one change at a time then recheck everything first . So you will know what helps and what change doesn't help . Assuming all else is fine see if you can find the set screw that adjusts the needle bar depth . You usually have to remove the inspection cover on the left side of the machine to find it ( Near the light bulb ) . Loosen it to drop the needle bar/needle a small adjustment lower and keep it aligned cause it'll also try and spin a bit . Retighten and they , remember all VERY small adjustments then retry . ( usually 1/32 an inch at a time ). Hope this helps . John
Jane hi , It sounds like its been sitting for years without use and bound up . You should remove the base cover and left end cap covering the needle bar pressure foot lift are and really saturate all the insides especially behind the control dials on the upright portion and ket them sit . Try and work the controls back and forth several times manually . Re lube and turn the controls several times again to free them up . Letting lube saturated all the mechanical control dials . Try to avoid this lube getting into the motor or switches or any electrical components as you don't want the lube in there . Stick to the mechanical components that metal on metal rub together . I use an aerosol called Super Slick Stuff in a 11oz. can I buy at Lowes . Try that . Hopefully you have a manual cause some stitches will only be accessed through certain settings . I no longer have this machine so have to guess on the settings without one to look at and study . In other words many times on knob has to be in a certain position before the stitch setting knob can be changed . The reverse button not working worries me though .Generally the longer the stitches the more this reverse knob will activate moving backwards . So if you can lie this action inside from the bottom the better off you will be . I don't recommend taking the two machine cases apart for a novice . It's very difficult to separate them then get it all back together properly without breaking something unless you are a sewing machine mechanic versed in that model . Hope this helps . Good Luck . Thats a very nice machine when it works right . Hard to service the very core though when it doesn't . They didn't build that type of machine with the serviceman in mind . So features full , but repairing access not so much . John
Make sure the reverse lever is free to move inside machine . That machine is very hard to get into so I would recommend a professional . please like and subscribe to my You Tube Channel . Thanks John
Hey John. Pressure foot will not lift. Any suggestions other than oil?
