Well, as a guitarist myself, this is one of those songs that is so overly played that it's banned in some music stores. He did a great job, no doubt, but it's like hearing "Shape of You", "Can't Stop the Feeling", "Uptown Funk" or "Sugar".

50 years ago Deep Purple gave us the masterpiece Machine Head. And to watch this guy playing Smoke on the water is really amazing.

Great stuff. It takes some nerve to cover this song now, because it's been done to death and some people will mock you just because you tried it. Still you gave this something new without ruining it, so extremely well done.

No way! This song popped into my head for no discernible reason a few hours ago.
It's always good to know how to read music. That being said, there are a lot of guitarists who have made a decent living doing it who don't know how to (Slash being one example). Don't stress about it-knowledge is important, but it's only part of the whole package. The most important thing is heart. You need to do the best you can to appreciate yourself, always. Don't ever let anyone get you down. Learn chords, learn rhythm. Just remember to be yourself. Emulate, don't imitate. Be you.

Hey James, I am currently in the process of learning Anastasia by Slash, and I've been watching tons od covers. Just wanted to tell you you have motivated me to keep going cause when you covered that song were just one year younger than I am now, 15. Even though I have to speed up my left hand movement I think that song is perfect. Keep going, keep motivating people to move on while rocking the world. We are the new generation of rockers.
