  • In this video I walkthrough how to use CO2 to transfer beer that I fermented in a ball lock corny or cornelius keg using the liquid ball locks and gas ball locks plus some tubing.

Might want to try a spunding valve instead of the blow off tube I would set the spending valve at 10psi and let it transfer at a less violent speed.

Thanks for the simple video. I was trying a keg to keg (1st keg was actually more of a bright tank/ no o2 dryhop method) co2 transfer for the first time and it just wasn't moving. Thought the PRV valve being open on the receiving keg would do it, but nope! Had to connect to the gas in to bleed off as you showed, and it worked just fine.

Jeffrey Cierniak Glad you got it working. I agree with you. The best way is bleeding off the gas QD. Thanks for the comment!

Interesting. I’m in the same boat and was wondering why not just open the PRV?

You completely botched this up by pressuring your receiving keg to 30 psi and then connecting to your beer keg blowing 30 psi of co2 straight down the tube to mess up all the yeast at the bottom. Completely unnecessary. Then you over charge your primary keg and blast it through to the secondary. A tip for next time. Cut an inch off your tube if you brew in the keg,it will keep you from sucking up the yeast cake. Fill you secondary keg with no rinse sanitizer first and push it out with co2 and you will have zero oxygen in there. Use way less pressure and be gentle.

Just watching this now as about to embark on this process this week, so not sure I'll receive any replies but here goes. I presume it's best to cold crash in the primary first before dumping the trub? I also have a bouncer filter, is it worth using this inline to catch any floaty hop bits too?
    Thanks!

Excellent. Say I want to transfer from a 5gal corny to a mini keg. How do you know when the mini keg is full. Does it just stop, or will be start coming out of the bleed off hose?

Fill up your mini keg with water at the very beginning and add a few steps of star san to sanitize the mini keg. Then weigh the full keg using a standard scale and record the weight (X). Close up the mini keg and purge it into another vessel. Place the empty keg on the scale follow the instructions in the video. As you begin reaching X weight, you will know when to stop the transfer. Cheers!
