A better, more honest way to phrase this is to say that Leung Ting is a founder of his own distinct branch or sub-system derived from the Yip Man lineage of Wing Chun. But it sounds more impressive to call yourself "founder" I suppose.
??? This is a video about Leung Ting, he hasn't so called hinself nothing. He is actually the founder of Wing Tsun wich is a branch of Wing Tsun. Why all the fuss about it? Isn't Bruce Lee the founder of Jet Kune Do? Isn't Kano the founder of Judo? Isn't Yeoung Yee the founder of Kyokushin? Why so much fiss about this man having founded his own way of teaching a combat system!?
No comments on his kung fu other than that he made it a money driven shit show that went to shit. Imho he sullied the name of his master because he was greedy.
He created the name 'wing tsun' because the abbreviation of 'wing chun' (the proper spelling in English) is 'wc' which people could mistake for 'water closet' (toilet). This is what I heard ... not sure how true this is. But is not the 'founder' of the wing chun style which originated over 250 years ago . There are a few oral histories (stories) of its origins .
Not true, actually Leun Ting deveolped the WT for an easier aproach to Western students mentality (being them not as patient as "Easterner" students). Wing Chun recent founder was Yip Man or Ip Man as you better wich to spell and he was more of a formal Wing Chun schoolar. As for the history, Wing Chun goea back much more than 250 years, but it's not clearly registred when it started who was rhe first creator. The oral tradition gives us many stories, being the Wing Chun legend the most spread and accepted one.
@@KOMBATPedia Pff ok. So you are saying 'Wing Tsun' was a easier-to-understand version of wing chun which Leung Ting made exclusively for Westerners, and not for locals in Hong Kong? That makes no sense. I have heard that lots of Ip Man students like Leung Ting and William Cheung (and others) later developed very organized and very structured learning syllabuses of their wing chun so they can operate their schools with more success...like Karate, Judo, and Take kwon Do schools worldwide; which had belt systems; and this helped retain students who enjoyed setting clear goals belt by belt.
By piecing together the few stories we have (extrapolating for gaps) you can come close to its origins. Some have theorized a 36th Chamber type origin, a straight forward quick to learn style using techniques from other styles put together to train non-secular students to aid in the fight against the tyrannical regime who were in power. But wait, there's more...but that's for another time. 😁
Honestly the content is great but the crap music in the background made me give the thumbs down. I had to mute the video just to watch. Detest it when content creator do this.
He’s not the founder. He was one of the last students accepted by Ip Man. At that time Ip was very old and didn’t teach individuals directly. He would have observed and directed only. Leung Tings skills still appear to be quite good in these videos. 🙏.
I think they mean he's the founder of his own lineage which is spelled 'Wing tsun' because usually its Wing Chun. But theres no difference in the actual art so I guess its Leung Ting trying to market his own Wing Chun.
Yeah back in the day before Photoshop he tried to photos so his image over another image in a photo of all the main Sifu’s. And it’s so obvious. Search it.

Depending on which version you choose to believe, Ng Mui was the founder and she died long before Leung Ting came along.
Sadly, once martial arts came to the West, and efforts to franchise and pack gyms with bug-eyed, hungry students... traditional styles became washed out and over-simplied for the sake of fattening pockets !

Be careful of the word "founders", gang ! Leung Ting is awesome, but so many take photos with Yip Man and claim to be "closed-door" students, who get exclusive "meat-and-potatoes" instruction ! THEREFORE causing a "feeding frenzy" of book and video sales !
Founder ? What a joke, met him in person, he's an egotistical bully who looks down on foreign students. Wears a karate style uniform & wants his students to call him Sensei instead of master or Shifu. Tried to knock me down with strikes to the shoulder but I kept on bouncing back. By the 3rd time I said stop so when he did it a 4th time I sarcastically said ow & he jumped on it telling everyone loudly that I'd said ow. I'm Gen X, got hit harder by a bat.
He is not the founder of wing chun. There are much better teachers than him. At the end of the video look at how he pushed down the old man. That's not fair. You shouldn't harm old students just to show off. He doesn't know any CHI.
There is a distiction between Wing Chun (modern founder is Yip Man) and Wing tsun (wich was founded by Leun Ting)... 2 differente things. Same origin, but different paths!!
